I'd laugh if a Marvel movie flopped as well.  All these superhero movies had it coming.  They've been so successful for so long and as a result they're being oversaturated in the marketplace.  They deserve to be knocked down a few pegs.

They're saving Hollywood.

People used to eat shit like Bayformers 2 and ask for seconds.

Since the golden age of superhero movies and the emergence of streaming people want more bang for their buck and check RottenTomatoes before they waste precious time and money.

Entertainment isn't getting worse, it's getting more efficient so the consumer is king.

Gone are the days where people starved for entertainment reward Hollywood for most sub-standard trash because there wasn't much to warn them. Gone are the days the public reward Hollywood for complete trash because there's nothing better to do.

Is that really any better?

yes.  dumpsters are useful.  they take the trash out, which is what valerian is doing by taking away all the trash superhero garbage and shining on its own right.  no one appreciates the dumpster though because they're too focused on the trash (superhero garbage), despite the fact that the dumpster is doing god's work and keeping the streets from becoming polluted.

So... Valerian is full of trash.

If only your average consumer would have better taste / interests...

If your Marvels, Fast and Furioses, Jurrassic Worlds, your next CGI cartoons etc (yes, it also includes Transformers), if all that would go away, i wouldn't miss any...
