You think China and Japan will gross less than 50 mill combined?

Japan might be struggling to get 5m the way that market is going, 10m is kinda high end. China maybe 35-40m (I think IM3 will be releasing soon after?) and rest about 5m.

why? As long as it reaches 250m overseas I would say that would be a fine total. Anything more is just gravy

Fine?... okay... but excellent/great/amazing?.... no.And I don't think it is gonna go much higher than 250m.

Considering what the first made I'm not expecting great numbers either, and while Japan is a very hit or miss kind of market It's not as bad as people make out to be. We just had Les Mis make 60M+ and Ted make 45M+, and WIR just opened well and had a good second weekend drop.

Lets wait and see how much the second does before we say that.

There will be more and more Hollywood movies make more in China than in NA in the next few years.

China film market will maintain a high growth rate in next 10 years.

80mill overseas is about what was expected, 3D movies in foreign markets are big. The gross is always inflated because of the cost of a ticket. The first movie was not 3D, so it's hard to say which movie did better. However, domestically the first movie did 54.7mill in 3 days, while the second movie did only 51.7mill in 4 1/2 days.Since this movie is crap I can see a 60% or more fall next weekend

GI Joe 3 in 3D would make more in China than in NA.   B)

I think you have to much faith in american blockbusters making huge numbers in general.

The trend is Chinese movies are making more money.. Not so much hollywood ones.. Outside a few franchises..

I doubt GI Joe will make more in China in 2-3 years

Protectionism, lack of promotions, stolen gross and so on.

Overestimating and underestimating movies' box office are common things.

Hollywood blockbusters in 2013 are weaker than in the past few years.

In 2014 or 2015, hollywood movies will make a comeback.
