As for Snoke, he's, pardon me, WAS just the typical overconfident, self-righteous antagonist who thought he would be untouchable. Also he was busy reading Kylo's mind atm. What pisses me off much more is that he has,... HAD this dozen of elite-elite-sentries around him and not one of them notices the movement of the lightsaber. Elite-guards my ass.

I mean their masks covered their eyes. What's a Red Boy to do in that situation?

Though i adore TLJ, I struggle to put it above Empire, because i consider ESB to be a flawless movie. TLJ has some flaws, but also some the best moments of all SW movies.

I think I'll have it a little under Empire Strikes Back for now.  It's just really hard to beat that movie.  Regardless, the fact that it's a week from release and I like it this much says a lot.

The movie was a lot to take in my first viewing, but once I took it all in and watched it again it was evident how brilliant of a movie Johnson made.

Yeah, I just got out of my second time seeing it and I think I’m putting it above empire. It’s a fantastic film, and sure thee are some downsides but they really aren’t that bad (the casino scene them to me isn’t bad, I don’t really get all the hate). I just loved this film. And even after a second time I want to see it again, am I not mistaken but does the boy at the very end lift the broom using the force? Or is that just my imagination? My rankings:

1. ANH

2. TLJ

3. ESB

4. TFA

5. ROTJ

6. RO

7. ROTS

8. AOTC

9. TPM

It's not your imagination, it does happen.

I noticed it first time, but so far 2/3 of my viewing compatriots did not. I think it's quite neat they made it so subtle.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Overall, it's a bit messy but works really well when everything's clicking. Certainly the best of the new films. Putting it over Empire, though? Whatever floats your boat. I don't think it's anywhere in the ballpark.

Count me as someone who liked Luke's arc and thought the Canto Bight sequence was a bit of a dud.

Saw it again and I think its problems stand out a bit more.

The worst one is the entire subplot with Finn and Rose.  Its fucking tedious and pointless.  Rose is a stupid and pointless character.

What is the point of Laura Dern's character?  To appear on set in purple hair and to say she was in a Star Wars movie?

Almost all the humor in this felt forced and falls completely flat, worst examples is the early stuff with Hux talking to Poe and Luke drinking mothers milk from Mad Max Fury Road out of sea moose tits.  Not sure why this movie needs stuff like that but okay.

Leia's superman moment was the most WTF part of the movie to me.   So she survives in space for like 10 minutes?  Lol thats silly even for Star Wars.  That whole sequence was just jarring.

And I don't have a problem subverting expectations, but if you're gonna do that at least be creative and not lazy.  Rey's parents being nobodies selling her for money is lazy.  And no, that doesn't mean they had to be people we knew or even heard of.  Luke being some weird unlikeable recluse was just a bad creative decision.  And Snoke dying early on by itself isn't a problem, but we didn't learn jack shit about him like who we was or where he came from or how he turned Kylo.

After all the hoopla about who Rey's parents would be, I loved that choice. They're fucking nobodies. What did people want them to be?

I loved it, it enforces that the force isn’t just a thing owned by the Skywalkers. Any random person can learn the force. Why it gravitates to some is a mystery, of which I’m fine with.

By the way, I rewatched both ANH and ESB. ANH clearly is still my fav. ESB I still love, but it’s like I remembered: ESB’s beginning back to me takes a bit long for it to get going. You really don’t get into the great stuff till Luke meets Yoda.

Don’t get me wrong, ESB is an amazng film and an all time classic, but for me it’s not flawless. For me TLJ didn’t really have any lull moments. Even Finn and Roses scene after I rewatched it weren’t that bad to me. Were they necessary? No, and perhaps cutting them out to make the film slightly shorter would of helped, but to me it’s nit picky. I actually loved the horse like creatures, they were adorable.

All in all, I put TLJ above ESB, which is a huge and shocking move. I just feel like for me there were a lot of highs with both films, but the highs in TJL were so epic and just jaw dropping (especially with the fight scenes and visuals, I mean that image of a ship crashing through another through light speed......I need a big poster of that, and hang it up on my wall please, like.....right now. )
