Dunkirk's UK box office run was more impressive than Get out/wonder womans domestic run. It made the equivalent of a film making 560m in the US

Tons of amazing runs last year. The fact that WW may not even be in the top 3 DOM BO runs of the year is insane. I would go with Get Out though, absolutely no one saw that coming.

WW is still a CB movie.  The 400 is awesome, and surprising, but not shocking.

I think the legs were certainly surprising and incredibly impressive. Although I do know that some predicted higher OW and (obviously) shorter legs and weren't that far off the total.

Get Out gets my vote. Number wise, that really came out of "nowhere" in some ways. Legs were incredible. Runner up would be IT.

Paddington 1 was huge so Paddington didnt surprise anyone with its gross  did it 😉. No-one expected Dunkirk to open anywhere near as high as it did and have the tremendous legs it had

IT i wouldnt even consider surprising. The moment those trailers broke viewing records everyone knew it was going to be huge.

For me, Get Out had the most surprising run. For a small horror film like that, that just doesn't happen.

 

To put it in perspective, Don't Breathe was considered a massive horror hit, and it made about half as much as Get Out.

It, Get Out, Justice League, Wonder Woman, and Jumanji. If I were forced to pick one, I'd probably have to coin toss between Get Out and Justice League.

I voted for Get Out. Really impressive legs and total considering it's budget and the fact that was sold basically on the quality alone.

I feel like, to be fair, I had to pick a movie pre-Movie Pass explosion b/c that's just helping box office right now, I have no doubt (and eventually, they'll release some numbers, and not just rankings, to show it:)...so, I went with August or earlier releases (or Jumanji would have been there for me)...I was between Get Out and Wonder Woman, but ultimately picked Wonder Woman b/c I was like a soul in the wilderness when I said it could still reach a huge figure after OW, whereas I remember Han and a few others saying Get Out was gonna explode after OW...so "most surprising" would have to be the one where the least folks saw it...and that's WW...

Dunkirk in the UK sort of makes sense as Dunkirk is a landmark moment in the nation's history.

I agree. Wonder Woman has very nice legs. They are the best bit about her.

Wonder Woman's 4.0 multiplier is 2nd on my list. That was completely unexpected even if a $400m gross in the superhero genre is not too shocking.

 

But Get Out had a stunning performance all the way around for such a little movie. The opening was completely unexpected and the legs were great.
