Can't believe it took until fucking late March/beginning of April for us to get our 2nd 40M+ opener. But Ready Player One pulled it off, thank God

 

Right now, this is how the top 5 OW's of the looks like:

1. Black Panther - 202M
2. Ready Player One - 41.2M
3. Fifty Shades Freed - 38.6M
4. A Wrinkle In Time - 33.1M
5. Insidious: The Last Key - 29.6M (can't believe this has held on in the top 5 since the 1st weekend of January)

Comparatively, this how last year's top 5 was like at the same point in time:

1. Beauty And The Beast - 174.6M
2. Logan - 88.4M
3. Kong: Skull Island - 61M
4. The Lego Batman Movie - 53M
5. The Boss Baby - 50.2M

Eek, that's quite a nasty drop. Besides those five, Fifty Shades Darker, Split and Power Rangers had also crossed 40M, and Get Out and John Wick 2 were both higher and close to A Wrinkle In Time respectively as well. Not a very good start for 2018, it seems.

 

Still, it's not too late for the year to rally back up:
