What a terrible release date. No film festival premiere either. What's happening with this film?

Last minute TIFF addition, maybe? Two Zazie Beetz films opening on Oct 4 is still better than no Zazie Beetz films opening on Oct 4

Putting it against Joker that's gonna take all attention, plus less than a month after another space movie (Ad Astra) whose studio seems more confident, plus 2 weeks before its studio's main contender Jojo Rabbit seems like dumping ground to me. If they thought it had potential surely they'd position it better?

The film is too big for that (by that I mean it is mid-budget film made by one of the big studios). Smaller, indie films usually get into TIFF after the main lineup is announced (outside of midnight madness where films like The Predator can get a slot).

I smell another "First Man" when it comes to box office: A busted Oscar Contender.

But what I want to know is:

Will Natalie Portman go down to a bridge by a fountain
Where rocking-horse people eat marshmallow pies?

That's a lot of big films lol. Haven't seen so many of them enter late for some time.

This TIFF lineup is something else man. An embarrassment of riches to the highest degree

This movie had the most boring trailer of all times. Absolutely no hook, and same drivel like that awful pretentious bomb Annihilation minus action: bored wife cheats on her hubby, feels guilty, cheats some more, feels guiltier, takes some wacky mission to make life-altering decision: dump hubby? dump boyfriend? get progressive and dump both? get more progressive and hook up with Zazie? BOT won't stick around to find out cause they'll be watching The Joker like the rest of the world. this is First Man 2.0 with lesser acclaim and lesser boxoffice (translation: even bigger bomb).

Doesn't matter. It won't expand well. No hook, looks dull, lead is unlikable (not Nat but her dour wishy washy character). in the shadow of superior looking Ad Astra (which I don't expect to be big either but at least it has the "what's the secret" hook). Tons of movies that will have better buzz and better boxoffice coming out.
