Hm so not only is he a poor actor with very little drawing power and an obnoxious public persona, but he also is credibly accused of sexual assault. Seems like the next guy that Hollywood should keep trying to make a star for sure!

No worries, right now Sasha Stone seems to be offering up some sort of "It’s ephebophile, actually," defense on Twitter, always a winning argument when the subject is predatory behavior towards teenagers.  

 

Not everyone who has allegations gets cancelled for good but selling this while sidestepping Ansel's presence is going to be difficult.

They can recast him with Alden Ehrenreich. I can't see Disney keeping him after being repeatedly accused of pedophilia.

The mainstream media doesn't seem to pick up the story. Maybe they think if they ignore it will go away. I don't think WSS will get canceled or anything like that

COVID pushing Top Gun: Maverick back to December has already killed this film anyway unless Disney delays this film to next year so Spielberg can do an All the Money in the World that replaces Engort with Chalamet or whoever.

Better to remake a musical whose film version left a lot to be desired;"South Pacific" and "Man Of La Mancha" are example of great stage musicals whose film versions were a long,long, way from doing them justice.

Christopher Plummer aside, and even then he was only in the movie for about 30 minutes, has there ever been an instance where an actor, a lead actor mind you, full on gets replaced after filming was done?

He's the lead in an already shot movie. They can't cancel the movie. It's directed by Spielberg and reshooting the film seems impossible with the corona wrecking havoc

It might not be given first place because of all the other stuff going on but it ain't gonna blow over soon.

They would have to reshoot the whole freaking movie, as anybody familiar with West Side Story could tell you.
