Krissykins
I see the Emmys just announced they’re no longer doing DVD screeners and will be fully digital by 2020. Hopefully the Academy follow this and can find away to reduce piracy.
Morieris
Most people in the Academy can hardly operate a DVD player, wonder how they're going to do that....if they make it like a private Netflix-like platform. Use a similar base code. Put in your Membership #, there you go. It could work. It might reduce piracy but it also might reduce viewership. A lot of those movies don't get decent releases until after the show. If most casuals can't see them until it's too late, why bother watching the show and rooting for random stuff? Unless they fill it with popular shlock .... let's see what happens on Tuesday. Edited January 18, 2019 by Morieris
CoolioD1
i'd say it's a benefit of getting rid of DVD screeners that all the 90 year old fogeys who vote for stuff like darkest hour won't be able to figure out how to get the digital screeners to work lol. this was the first year the oscar voting was entirely digital w/ zero paper ballots and i honestly wonder how that's effected the vote.
