WrathOfHan
I was just going to make a thread about this! I'm assuming this is the March 18 movie they have going wide, because from what I've read (trying to go in blind on this), it sounds like a much more accessible film to the GA than The Witch and ICAN. This could be sticking around into awards season like Get Out tbh

Mr Impossible
Toni Colette is such an amazing actress. Anyways I hope they don't hype this movie too much. We've had other A24 horror movies that had amazing early word but didn't really manage to break out in terms of box office or awards. (The Witch, It Comes At Night)

(The Witch, It Comes At Night) The Witch didn't break out by any means, but it made 40M on a 4M budget and in the US had a near 3x multiplier which is great for a horror movie. As for awards, no it wasn't winning oscars but it's a horror movie, why would it? It was very well liked. even if some people on this forum were disappointed Accolades[edit] List of awards and nominations Award Date of ceremony Category Recipient(s) Result Ref(s) Austin Film Critics Association December 28, 2016 Best First Film The Witch Won [48][49] Breakthrough Artist Award Anya Taylor-Joy Nominated Boston Society of Film Critics December 11, 2016 Best New Filmmaker Robert Eggers Won [50] Bram Stoker Awards April 29, 2017 Superior Achievement in a Screenplay Robert Eggers Won [51] Chicago Film Critics Association December 15, 2016 Best Art Direction The Witch Nominated [52] Most Promising Filmmaker Robert Eggers Won Critics Choice Awards December 11, 2016 Best Sci-Fi/Horror Movie The Witch Nominated [53] Empire Awards March 19, 2017 Best Horror The Witch Won [54] Best Female Newcomer Anya Taylor-Joy Won Fangoria Chainsaw Awards October 2, 2017 [1] Best Film The Witch Won [55] Best Actress Anya Taylor-Joy Won Best Supporting Actor Ralph Ineson Nominated Best Score Mark Korven Nominated Golden Tomato Awards January 12, 2017 Best Horror Movie 2016 The Witch Won [56] Golden Trailer Awards May 4, 2016 Best Horror "Family" Won [57] Best Horror TV Spot "Life" Nominated Best Sound Editing in a TV Spot "Paranoia" Won Gotham Awards November 28, 2016 Breakthrough Actor Anya Taylor-Joy Won [58] Bingham Ray Breakthrough Director Award Robert Eggers Nominated Independent Spirit Awards February 25, 2017 Best First Screenplay Robert Eggers Won [59] Best First Feature The Witch London Film Critics' Circle January 22, 2017 Young British/Irish Performer of the Year Anya Taylor-Joy (also for Morgan and Split) Nominated [60] London Film Festival October 18, 2015 Sutherland Award Robert Eggers Won [61] New York Film Critics Online December 11, 2016 Best Debut Director Robert Eggers Won [62] Online Film Critics Society January 3, 2017 Best Picture The Witch Nominated [63] San Diego Film Critics Society December 12, 2016 Breakthrough Artist Anya Taylor-Joy Nominated [64][65] San Francisco Film Critics Circle December 11, 2016 Best Production Design Craig Lathrop Nominated [66][67] Saturn Awards June 28, 2017 Best Horror Film The Witch Nominated [68] Best Performance by a Younger Actor Anya Taylor-Joy Nominated Seattle Film Critics Society January 5, 2017 Best Picture of the Year The Witch Nominated [69][70] Best Director Robert Eggers Nominated Best Cinematography Jarin Blaschke Nominated Best Costume Design Linda Muir Nominated Best Youth Performance Anya Taylor-Joy Won Harvey Scrimshaw Nominated Best Villain Charlie and Wahab Chaudary (as Black Phillip) Nominated St. Louis Gateway Film Critics Association December 18, 2016 Best Horror/Science-Fiction Film The Witch Won [71] Sundance Film Festival February 1, 2015 Directing Award Robert Eggers Won [72] Grand Jury Prize Robert Eggers Nominated Toronto Film Critics Association December 11, 2016 Best First Feature The Witch Won [73] Washington D.C. This one might be worth keeping an eye on.
Jayhawk the Hutt
I'm super excited for this. Hadn't heard about until yesterday, spent some time looking at review blurbs and Twitter reactions. I really hope it is as terrifying as people are making it seem. Haven't had a movie scare the shit out of me at a really high level in awhile.

CoolioD1
Maybe it's the cold air but sundance is by far the worst festival for critics rushing to declare they've seen the "_____ FILM EVER!" so i'll wait and see

Avatree
I'm with Coolio, sundance movies are usually overrated.
Jayhawk the Hutt
This sounds like a a much bigger crowd-pleaser than either TW or ICAN, but I'm still skeptical if it's actually as scary to the GA as it is to critics. If it is, than this should do extremely well. Hopefully this the A24 movie that actually breaks out into the mainstream. March/April seems pretty weak so if does have great WOM it'll have plenty of room for a long run. Krissykins
This sounds promising. I love Toni Collette. I didn’t like The Witch, but it's not the same creative people involved here.
