I wonder if they are gonna use digitally de-aged Jack Nicholson in Danny's nightmare sequences.

I could see do what they did with Blade Runner 2049 and Rogue One and put Nicholson's face on another actor but I don't see Jack Nicholson himself reprising the role of Jack Torrance.

Yes, most likely it'll be a digital model.

If the director attempts to honor the artistry of the first, I'll be fine with this. If it's a tropy horror slog, I'll be boycotting and encouraging others to do the same. This'll either be grear or atrocious, and it'll come down to how much respect and trust that those involved with this have in Kubrick's masterwork. We'll see.

Edit: I did a quick check to see who the director was. With a resume including Oculus, that Ouija prequel, Hush, and Gerald's Game, I feel like they got the one of best directors possible. Hopefully the studio executives let him stay true to his vision.

So...are they going to try and make it a sequel to Kubrick's Shining? or...what?

Intresting question since it's no secret that King was not toally happy with what Kubrick did with his book. King thought it was a good movie on it's own merits, but not his book.

The book, imo, was fantastic.  I hope they stick close to the story within it.

I agree.it's the best thing King has written in a long time.

Intresitng think it's a sequel to the novel, not the Kubrick movie, and some of "DR Sleep" will not fit in well with the many changes Kubrick made to "The Shining"/

I am in a minority since I am not crazy about the Kubrick film, the novel was much better.

My hunch is that it'll be a bit of both, as much as King disliked the film adaptation of The Shining, it was a huge hit and WB would probably want some elements from the Kubrick film in Doctor Sleep.

The book wasn’t that good and could barely be called horror. I don’t know how the movie will handle the plot, maybe spice it up a bit to come off as more “scary” or whatever but I found the book really low key compared to the orgy of terror that was the shining (the book not the watered down, butchered  and incomprehensible movie version) .

Too bad that all the king movie adoption announcements leave me cold, as a big king fan. Really don’t care about pet cemetery (the first film was decent enough and nothing can beat Bobby from dead of night) and I can’t believe that an It-like adoption of salem’s Lot (the closest thing to IT) hasn’t been announced yet.
