Ewan MacGregor is one of my favourite actors. And Tremblay is my favourite up-and-comer. I really hope this is a hit.

no it won't, similar to Shutter Island maybe if good reviews, but could easily underperform

But the original The Shining and the book has a huge following. And Flanagan has proved that he can make crowd pleasing horror multiple times. This could easily breakout.

IT made over 100m ow and over 300m domestic. The most this opens to is 50m ow with great reviews. But still too early to tell.

Successful King adaptations are more the exception than the rule. Doubt the connection to The Shining will mean much in terms of draw (The Shining adjusts to $147m). My guess is sub-$100m w/o seeing the trailer.

This is WB we are talling about. Doubting them on a horror movie is not wise. That being said, this is not approaching IT levels. That one had out of this world hype. Still, I could see 150m DOM if it is great movie.

 

And speaking of WB horror, this year is packed for them. This, The Conjuring and La Llorona. I can see all of them over 100m dom.

Can't see La Llorona making anything close to $100m unless it moves

La Llorona faces Endgame in its 2nd weekend. Zero shot at 100M.

 

They do have Annabelle and It, though. And this, of course.

Tremblay really annoyed me in Room but he was great in Wonder. 

 

This director is great, the only film of his I haven’t liked was Gerald’s Game.
