Is Ferrari the bad guy?

there is no "bad guy", if anything Ford behave worse than Ferrari.

the story is essentially: Ford wanted to buy Ferrari. They almost closed the deal then Ferrari pulled out. Ford was angry that they couldn't buy Ferrari so they decided to build a car to beat Ferrari in racing. (ferrari was long time champions year-on-year)

thisfilm depicts them building the car and racing it at Le Mans to try to beat Ferrari.

Wtf are you talking about that will upset "Woke twitter SJWs" ?

Ford was a Nazi sympathizer and anti-semite.

He even financed them.

Where are you from?

Le Mans is the most famous motor race, at least in Europe. Most adults will have heard of Le Mans here. (in the UK)

As its had a ton of media coverage and also people are aware of the infamous crash which killed 100 odd spectators.

Cough Monaco Cough

They'll probably skip over the fact that Ford failed to finish a single car 3 consecutive years before they actually beat Ferrari.

Ford die in 1947, the movie is quite after that.

But yes, specially when they say in the trailer, this is war we know how to do it, it is a bit of an invitation to remind people for who Ford rooted for during WW2.

That said Ford company infrastructure during WW2 was a big part of the Allied war effort and success.

I doubt it, the movie will try sell how extraordinary the challenge was and for how far they come from to make it spectacular the trailer moment when he said, I have how many days to beat Ferrari ? With a Ford !?! Do seem to point out they consider starting from far behind.

What's the buzz? TIFF organizers on the films that will get audiences talking

TORONTO — Cinephiles and Oscars prognosticators, it’s time to start your engines.

The Toronto International Film Festival kicks off Sept. 5 with another slew of star-studded titles predicted to get awards season love — from a high-octane look at rivalling car companies on the racing circuit, to a powerful true story of a civil rights defence lawyer, and a slick murder mystery.

Here are some 2019 festival titles that will likely get much buzz, according to co-head/artistic director Cameron Bailey and senior director of film Diana Sanchez.

“Ford v Ferrari”

Both Bailey and Sanchez predict big things for this biographical drama starring Matt Damon as American car designer Carroll Shelby and Christian Bale as British driver Ken Miles.

James Mangold directed the story, which follows the two as they build a revolutionary Ford Motor Company racing car to rival that of the Enzo Ferrari team at a prestigious race in France in 1966.

“Matt Damon and Christian Bale play so well off each other in the story that’s two and a half hours yet you’re watching it and you’re like, ‘I could stay here forever,'” says Sanchez.
