I think the nature of CBMs, like with animation, paint a world of endless opportunities. So no fatigue anytime soon or ever.

Looking at the superhero films from this year and next, they're all quite different, Deadpool 2 and Ant-Man 2 is are action comedy, Aquaman is set in Atlantis offering a world not really touched upon in films, CM is likely going to be a space film and Shazam looks to be more family friendly with the kid turning into a superhero aspect

so if Civil War wasn't a real Avengers film, then the lukewarm reception on AOU will affect IW right?

I'm sorry but everyone here is being two sided. If there's a positive thing about Civil War, then it'll boost Infinity War, but if there's a negative thing about Civil War, then its not a real Avengers movie and won't affect Infinity War... make up yo mind.

Well Civil War existed in a grey area where it wasn't fully an Avengers or Cap movie while feeling like a squel to both AOU and Winter Soldier.

Either way it opened slightly less than AOU despite being officially Cap 3.

But it's not the best comp for IW because of the gray areas.

What do you guys think the internal multiplier will be like for the weekend? CIVIL WAR's Thursday preview number was also $25M. Are we expecting roughly the same number for the weekend (over/under $179M)?

Well the IMDB score went from 6.6 to 7.6 and its till going up.

True. But regardless of what happens with online scores (which ultimately don’t matter), this movie is a success and I’m so happy about that! Hopefully Deadline confirms the numbers soon...

It seems like it'll at least match CW since the Sunday drop should be lighter (also with presales more Sat/Sun focused compared to other superheroes per Deep Wang).

CIVIL WAR was a threequel.

BP is original and first film in the BP series. Also it has galvanized the African American/Black community in a big way....so multiplier will be better.

Dunno if it's been said, but in http://deadline.com/2018/02/black-panther-thursday-night-preview-box-office-1202291093/ there's this lovely quote:

These early estimates for Black Panther are exclusively from Deadline, so if you see them reported by a rival trade, they got them from us.

Any chance Deadline could be any more sassy? :redcapes:

Civil War was a sequel so it will be more frontloaded.

Plus cultural phenomenons and novelty films tend to keep momentum much longer.

Hopefully their projections are accurate. Don't want a Last Jedi part 2. :sparta:

I have a feeling this film won't (in-general) disappoint fans though... unlike the film you mentioned :hahaha:

All very diverse indeed. Even DP2 and AM2 are very different type of funnies. I hope Sony CBMs lives up to their promise of being R-rated, dark and all.
