These are good starts considering that T’Challa is expected to take in more than $104M in weekend two. Through yesterday, he’s made close to $292M and he’ll be the fastest Mavel title to $300M in 8 days, beating The Avengers’ 9 days.

Thursday figure should be around (292-277.7)=14.3 million.

This would be the highest MCU Thursday ever, beating out all the May and summer releases!

Behind It are The Avengers $12.4m and Homecoming at $8.9m.

its also the fourth best superhero movie behind Spider-Man 2 at $23.8m (July and 2nd day), The dark knight at $16.5m (July) and The Amazing Spider-Man at $15.8m (July and 3rd day).

It also bested Beauty and the Beast's pitiful $10.9m!

Wow, amazing run for T'Challa so far! It will be very interesting to see how Infinity War does after this. Does Marvel pull a WB and put together one last Black-Panther-centric IW trailer before May? :)  j/k As Marvel is nowhere near as desperate as DC was going into JL... Marvel's characters are an embarrassment of riches at this point.  I knew BP would be big but certainly didn't expect it to be The Avengers big!

Maybe BOM was onto something with that 120 weekend prediction

Comparing to Beauty and the Beast, who only dropped 5.5% on Thursday (compared to BP's 3.5%), Beauty and the following weekend:

T - $10,905,961 (-5.5%)

F - $23,602,097 (+116.4%)

S - $38,292,423 (+62.2%)

S - $28,532,197 (-25.5%)

2nd Weekend - $90,426,717 (-48.3%)

If we use those increases as a baseline for BP, since BP is also regarded as a 4-quad family film now:

T - $14.2m

F - $30.7m

S - $49.8m

S - $37.1m

2nd Weekend - $117.6m (-41.8%)

Perhaps BOM really does know its stuff?? (Although I'm thinking more like 35+45+35 as I don't think Saturday will be that big)

We will see. Multiple reports from users here about large population cities on the east coast having kids out of school the entire week, not just Monday. If this has been going on for years, it might explain why Deadpool did not jump on Friday as much as some of these other non-summer films. Deadpool had better legs than some of them too (Ultron/Civil War for example).
