Using GITS as a comp for weekdays actually is pretty good. I expect the weekend to fare better than that did, though

It looks like BP is not gonna be #1 this weekend. PR:U is getting surprisingly passable reviews (well, reviews that say it's bland but are marked green) and tracking has it at around 25M (I read some post saying 20-30M).

It came "close" this past weekend. Tomb Raider wasn't that far behind it after all. 

Even with its great holds a drop of at least 45% would see BP at about $14m +/- 

I think PR:U is going to flop but at least those initial fans will show up strong enough that it scores at least $20m.

 

It would be funny at this point if BP repeats for a sixth weekend. I'm game for it though!

We're only 16 reviews in for Pacific Rim: Uprising, so I think it is too soon to say what the level of reviews will be.

 

Might be worth noting that the "Top Critics" RT score is more or less what one would expect (43% at this moment). 

 

Unless one was expecting an RT score under 25, I suppose.

PR;U was made pretty much made with the China Market in mind anyway. That is where they expect to make their dough.

Though the China market might get very interesting if a full scale trade war breaks out between China and the US...which will happen If Trump really does slap a 60 Billion dollar tariff on Chinese Productis. They might well cut down on the quota of US movies allowing in as a retaliation....

Since it looks like your typical under 25% TF movie, those expectations were realistic.

BP and ICOI both had shows start a few minutes ago at one of my local suburban theaters. ICOI won this admissions battle 42 - 21. Granted, BP is on two screens whereas ICOI only has one.
