SOTM 1 - The Regionals

 

In recognition of number of players coming from different areas throughout the world, here is a way to gain something from your local knowledge.  Select 1 region from the following list of Regions (as listed on BOM) :

  • United Kingdom
  • Australia
  • Russia - CIS
  • Germany
  • France
  • South Korea
  • Japan
  • Brazil
  • Mexico

(I have deliberately excluded China as it's already covered by the China question in the Pre-season.)

 

Predict the Top 3 Films in that region that are eligible for both the top 15 Domestic preseason chart & Top 12 Worldwide Chart.  Also predict their grosses in USD for that region.

 

Scoring is as follows:

Film is not in the top 3 = -10k

 

If the film is in the top 3 :

In top 3 = 20k

In Exact Position = 10k (in addition to being in the top 3)

Gross is within 2% of Actual = 25k 

Gross is within 5% of Actual = 15k

Gross is within 10% of Actual = 5k

Gross is within 15% of Actual = 0

Gross is > 15% of Actual = -10k

 

If the film is not in the top 3 :

Not in Top 3 = -10k

Gross is within 15% of Actual = 0

Gross is > 15% of Actual = -20k

 

Bonus Scores :

If you pick the top 3 films in any order you get 50k

If you pick the top 3 films in order (in addition to above) you get another 100k.

If you predict the grosses for all 3 films to be within 5%, you get 50k

If you predict the gross for all 3 films to be within 2% you get another 50k

If you are god and predict the top 3 in order + all 3 grosses within 2% then you get another 200k.

 

You can choose to abstain for a score of 0.

If you do not answer this question you get a score of -10k.

 

Remember like the main pre-season, all grosses are bounded by the 4/20 and 9/3.
