YouTube views are useful to get a general idea about the buzz, but this seems a bit too optimistic.

 

It would mean Venom would make more than SM:H.

It looks so freaking childish. Like childish edgelord garbage. Then again that's kinda what the Venom character is so the film should look like that. If people don't like it, the sequel will suffer.

If they did the marketing sure isn't showing it. Wouldn't surprise me if they ultimately decided on a PG-13 movie instead.

Why? After the success of Deadpool you’d think an R rated would be the way to go, even Suicide Squad didn’t make as much as Deadpool with its PG-13 rating.

Suicide Squad didn't do worse than Deadpool because it was PG:13, it did worse because it's a much worse film. If R rated comic book movies automatically did better then every comicbook movie would be R rated.

Regardless, Suicide Squad would be a fantastic target for Venom. That is more than both TASM movies. But Venom doesn't need to make as much as Suicide Squad to be a success and get a sequel.

Suicide Squad and Deadpool were both big hits. I don’t think their ratings had much to do with it. 

 

Unless that explains the domestic drop off from Deadpool 1 to 2.
