Y'all realize that Friday bump is basically exactly in line with BP's Friday bump which led to an amazing second weekend.

 

MCU films are HUGE Saturday and Sunday players.

Black Panther was during winter break for many schools. A jump like this in May is kind of strange

I've never heard of school having winter break in February...

 

Re episode 9, I'm 50/50 on whether it'll drop from TLJ or not. SW trilogy finishers always go up from the middle chapter, but the lack of a hook is going to be a problem. I could see 200M OW/550M US/1.1B though.

IDK how big of a factor a "winter break" played into BP but if it's worth mentioning this week was the start of summer break for a ton of college students around the country.

I've had university break go 1 week into February, but BP was squarely in the middle of it. You have a point about President's Day though.

I think people should be extremely conservative in their expectations for the Saturday number. After this horrible Friday number a relatively bad Saturday number wouldn’t surprise me one bit.

I don't think it will.  It'll still open strongly and if JJ can fix what Rian messed up, then it might do better than Jedi.  I've been on record from the beginning saying that all they need to do is fix a couple of things and the SW loonies will come out in full force.

I am not sure why people were expecting a sub 50% drop for IW with a record-breaking weekend.

 

Many said this was a fanboy jerkoff event and no casual audience will get the mess of a movie that IW would be.
