The Horror of Lucas Films
I wonder if it has a chance at getting good reviews? The trailer is quite solid.
DAJK
This looks like crap. Would rather watch Gentlemen, Last Full Measure, or even Dolittle to be honest.
Boxofficerules
Has anyone seen this yet? You’d normally have some reviews on letterboxd by now.

Why would you disrespect The Gentlemen and Last Full Measure by grouping them with Dolittle. Shame on you!

I said "or even" Dolittle, just to make sure they're not counted in the same category

I’m sure people have seen it but if there is an embargo then not sure they can say much anyways.

If it has a chance, Universal probably ignores it...lol This movie is getting dumped.
Nova
Completely shocked that Finn wasn’t able to get some of the Stranger Things fans to watch this especially since its PG13 cause the tracking thread....YIKES

It's a bit early to tell. But even adult TV stars in general have always found it difficult to get (lead) roles in successful movies. So nobody expects kids to carry blockbusters. If RDJ couldn't help Dolittle...
filmlover
Yeah, TV stardom has always been difficult to translate to movie stardom. But no one's gonna hold the failures of the movies against the Stranger Things kids at all because they're, well, kids.
Blaze Heatnix
I watched the trailer again and I still don't get why doesn't the girl simply leaves the house, once weird stuff starts happening... The whole thing looks dumb and badly planned.

The Horror of Lucas Films
Nobody's blaming them for the failure of these movies, we're just saying that there isn't a correlation between popularity in internet and in the real life. As @Krissykins would say, those teen fanbases are loud, but cheap.

Critics tend to be pretty tough on modernized versions of classic novels.
JB33
Just ordered a book containing two Henry James novellas, The Turn of the Screw and In the Cage. Looking forward to reading the former specifically and getting to know the basis of this film. Can't help but feel, even with the existence of The Innocents, that a straight up adaptation of the story would have been better than this modern take.

Blaze Heatnix
There's a fresh review on RT now ( guy probably broke the embargo ). He's a top critic who also gave a fresh review to The Grudge, so that probably doesn't mean much. Other than that, movie is invisible. It's a film that was supposed to come out last February and the studio could have rescheduled it for anywhere but they chose to stick it in January.
Boxofficerules
Reviews are pretty poor so far. From what I can gather, the narrative is incoherent and the ending is confusing.
