TombRaider
i love how most horrors are low budget and very profitable
DAJK
Feel like this'll do something like 6.5 OD, and around 14.5 for the weekend. 35 total. Maybe 40-50 OS

Eric the Creator
I personally thought Insidious 4 was the best out of all the sequels, so I was confident the movie wouldn't be total trash. Don't know if I'll go to the theaters for this, but I'll probably give this a rental.
WrathOfHan
If this is still playing at the beginning of February after I've seen everything from December, maybe I'll give it a go if I'm bored.

MovieGuyKyle17
Still hanging on in the 60's. We might have our first ever Fresh January Horror film on the first weekend of the year. That's amazing

TombRaider
so you're telling me critics are biased and always hate these kind of movies?

TombRaider
From BOM: Sony's horror/thriller Escape Room brought in an impressive $2.345 million from Thursday previews last night with showings beginning at 4PM in 2,386 locations. While the studio is still projecting a $10 million performance this weekend this more than doubles the $1 million in previews Slender Manbrought in from previews before a $11.37 million opening and almost five times the preview gross for The Forest, which delivered $515k from previews in January 2016 ahead of a $12.7 million debut. At this point we'd be surprised if Escape Room fell short of that gross by the end of the weekend. Good. it looks extremely appealing to me

estebanJ
Saw Escape Room today. Don't let the meh Tomatometer rating fool you - this is a suspenseful film, it captured my attention immediately with charismatic characters and the drama and intensity of the escape room adventure never let up. Entertaining film ... B+ .... 768/1000
JB33
Great to read the positive reactions. It's always easy to assume the yearly first weekend of January horror film is just a cheap dump by the studio. Was tempted to see it yesterday but saw THE FAVOURITE instead. Looks like I'll be going to see this next. I also enjoyed INSIDIOUS: THE LAST KEY last year. Maybe it should be a yearly thing to have an Adam Robitel movie on the first weekend of January!
That One Girl
Had a lot of fun with this. It's not great, but it's a perfectly fine way to start the year off.
