AVENGERS ENDGAME | 1939.4 M overseas ● 2797.8 M worldwide

Recommended Posts

This re-release news is literally the best thing that could have happened no matter which side you are rooting for.

For the EG folks it's pretty self-explanatory - it gives EG a chance to take the #1 worldwide spot and to let Cameron know what its like to lose.

For the Avatar folks, if EG doesn't end up passing Avatar even with a re-release, then it removes the "it's only #1 because of a re-release!" excuse and further cements Avatar's place on top. Furthermore, if theaters start playing the new extended edition of EG on 6/28 as planned and the grosses are tabulated as a re-release, then EG actually might not take the "#1 first release crown".  There is some debate over whether it needs 2.750b or 2.755b for the first release crown, but 2.755b is the number that removes all debate on that title. EG would likely have cleared that with the help of the July 4th holiday, but currently it doesn't look like EG can reach that by 6/28 and will end up around 2.752-2.753b on that date. If the showings afterward are the re-release edition, then those would no longer be added to the first run. So this gives a situation where Avatar possibly remains first run champion as well as overall champion.

Either way, we are looking at an exciting next couple of weeks.

what this thing will make will get added , to its total for sure, endgame will be at 2751-2752 by this sunday so the first run of avatar is locked , without the push, as of now excluding the boost/re release, endgame will finish with 2765-2773

Of course the re-release is added to the total. Just not the first run total.

Edit to your edit:

Yes, that's what it would have made if they had not announced a re-release and just let it play out. However, if theaters playing EG switch to playing the extended version on 6/28, then why would that count as the original release? You're going to have the original release at 2753 or so which ends on 6/27, and then whatever it makes from the extended version counted as a re-release.

#AvengersEndgame is trending for hours on Brazil’s Twitter.

I can see this re-release or whatever it is being a lot bigger than many here are expecting. This plus the Far From Home boost will be a killer combo. Now people REALLY have a reason to see it a final time before Spider-Man. It also depends on what the bonus content is.

Why can't people just understand the basic principle of economy?

Poor exchange rate > Higher inflation rate

Good exchange rate > Lower inflation rate.

Not necessary. The inflation that matter is in terms of ticket rates, which hasn't been par in majority of country, including Brazil, Japan, UK, Europe, Russia etc.

And that's where admissions count come, where Endgame is ahead by margin.

It would be silly for Disney not to release in every country they can (obviously some, like China, they have no control over).

Not just because it will likely give it the push it needs to #1, but they literally have nothing to lose. It will cost them next to nothing to add these few scenes and sent out new digital prints. Marketing will be mostly social/word of mouth. It's all gravy, and gets people primed for FFH, which while not a Disney film, is part of the MCU and apparently going by early reactions is a superb follow up to Endgame. They want FFH to succeed just as much as Sony does, as it will keep the fans primed for the MCU 2020 releases.

So who cares if it only makes a small amount in some European countries. It'll still add to the total and cost them next to nothing to do so. 1-2 million from small European countries is still 1-2 million.

The bulk of the money will come from DOM/Latin America and Asia.

I do wonder if it will release again in Japan.

It's still making some coins there, but this could certainly give it a boost.

Also, I know it's incidental, BUT Lincoln Square AMC in New York has an interesting schedule for IMAX at the moment.

This weekend Toy Story 4 takes over the IMAX, but Annabelle takes over the next weekend. However, Annabelle presale tickets for that Friday/Saturday/Sunday IMAX shows are for 10pm shows only. This makes me think that they've left the earlier slots open for Endgame. They could easily fit in a 2pm and 6pm AEG show for Friday, and a 10am/2pm/6pm AEG show for Sat/Sun.

Again, it could just be a co-incidence, but it seems likely to be the case since if Annabelle is only at 10pm shows, then by default the movie with IMAX the previous weekend (Toy Story) would have probably continued during the day show under normal circumstances, however since both are Disney, they could easily give those day shows to AEG.

Will certainly make for an exciting lead up to FFH.

Internet is up for disappointment man. I mean my TL is certain that Endgame will beat Avatar the weekend it re-release. Poor chaps don't know, it barely gonna add $5-10mn by that over 2-4 weeks.

What do you mean?
