Difference between Titanic and Avatar on one side and EG on another is that EG will take only WW crown and maaaybe OS too, not the triple one. TFA is, sadly, not falling dom. So there won't be a triple crown winner since, well, Avatar. everyone should be happy. Marvel gets #1 WW but Cameron remains the last one with 3 wins and back to back no less (since Avatar dethroned previous triple crown holder Titanic).

This is like comparing Titanic to gone with the wind. That era was totally different, so is this.

 

No streaming, no Netflix, no Twitter, no Facebook, computers sucked (I built and overclocked a PC to 450 mhz that year) and there was so much less media wise to keep one occupied. Online gaming was barely relevant at all.

 

Avatar and Titanic stans wish to belittle what EG has done. Why? I have no idea. Titanic was incredible what it did, earth shattering. Would it do the inflation adjusted numbers like that now? I seriously doubt it. However it would still absolutely kill it, no question of that.

I want that level of optimism because that won't be happening, if that actually would happen than there wouldn't be any discussion about the WW crown.

You ignore the fact that EG leverage on the technology advancement. How EG trailer resulted a whole social media phenomenon., how GIF and MEME such as “Thanos on google"  online keep it relevant, how the whole record-breaking run of online ticket presale helped to build up the hype way before the premiere, how the good reaction from the EG audience spread and intensified across the world through internet. 

 

Technology wise, there is no way to claim that Titanic possess an advantage over EG or the other way. The cinematic world adapt accordingly to the new environment faster than you think.

That is completely backwards. Technology has hurt the cinema market and destroyed the attention span of the bulk of the younger audience and in many cases older folks as well. It's not even disputable.
