Avatar, Avengers, Titanic are the trifecta in terms of box office. Probably Star Wars too brecause of DOM, but not WW yet.

Star Wars should also be i think .. only weakness of the franchise is Asia (Bar Japan)

Yet Titanic was also only beaten due to inflation. It sold far more tickets than Avatar. Actually Endgame sold more tickets than Avatar too. So how is it not impressive again?

in his mind nowhere counts admissions globally only locally

Obviously I don't have an exact count. But given how close Endgame's gross is to Avatar along with where they made their money (Endgame made a lot of money in countries with very low ATP, opposite for Avatar), seems pretty clear that it did

i dont think so .. apart from few Asian markets & might be few American region countries (counting whole) .. Avatar still leading with fair margin in admissions ..

Plus factor in 3D prices for Avatar, I think EG wins fairly easy admissions wise.

It beat Avatar's admissions by a lot in pretty much all Asia and Latin American markets (SK was close, Japan it lost by a lot, maybe a couple others I'm missing). Avatar beat it in Europe/Australia but they have higher ATP so the same dollar difference = a lower admissions difference. USA was essentially a wash.

This is veering into fan war territory. I know Charlie is planning a global admissions breakdown for all 2B movies at end of month, that will be in its own thread. Let’s table this for now.

yeah ... he will do it at the end of this month .. so we should wait ..

But let's look at how many major BO regions there are. Basically domestic, Europe, Latin America, Asia, Oceania. EG wins in 2, basically ties in 1, loses in 1. And the 2 regions EG wins have a lot of people. But as @Thanos Legion says we can put this aside for now.

A chart should have been there ... $2 Billion films comps admissions-wise ...

charlie will do it ...

But not worldwide, Avatar was the more successful movie than Titanic adjusted for inflation worldwide.

And this is about the worldwide figure. If this movie is going to get shoehorned over Avatar, because there's no way it could do it naturally, then it doesn't deserve to pass Avatar.

Endgame would pass Avatar if it did not have to deal with record-low exchange rates. Give it last year’s rates and it would have already passed it. Give it 2009’s and god knows what it would achieve. Because of that, a re-release or push to get it over is totally fair. Especially when you consider Avatar got one, and Endgame’s first run is going to be higher than Avatar’s first. Endgame has even sold substantially more tickets worldwide. It absolutely deserves to pass Avatar.
