An announcement of the record during SDCC is unlikely but within the realm of possibility, right?

1)Show Endgame in Hall H.

2) Count the SDCC ticket of everyone there as Endgame box office.

3) Boom, announce the broken record immediately after the showing ;)

@captainwondyful said roughly 6500 people in Hall H. I don’t actually have any idea on price.

Digging up my post on @Porthos about this..

The short answer is No.

The long answer is: You LEGIT ASKED ABOUT ONE OF MY FAVORITE TOPICS

San Diego is too small for the Comic Con.  It's why SDCC has been trying to leave San Diego for Los Angeles for the past few years.  (Which, is the worst idea ever. No one wants this. The only place you could move it to is Las Vegas, which, an even worst idea.)

There's no space in the Gaslamp district for a screening that's large enough to make the numbers work for the studios.  We have Horton Theater, but it only fits like 200 people.  Spreckels Theater houses 1915 seats and it the HQ of Conan all week.  So you'd have to logistically find a way to do both. I think Conan tapes around like 3PM.  So, it could work, depending on how long it would take to strike the stage.  But the Spreckels doesn't have a projector; so even though it has the space, it doesn't have the equipment.

Everyone asks why we can't take over PetCo.  The numbers are insane.  I think it was like 2.5M to build a screening room for just 2,000 people -- which is not enough for Hall H on Saturday.

And that brings up to Hall H.

San Diego has space inside for showrooms with 2,000, 4,000, and 6,500 seating.  WB always shows their pilots and new DC Comics Animated Film in Ballroom 20 during the Con, usually Wednesday Preview Night as a "perk".  They COULD show films there.  They COULD do a Special Screening.  They just choose not to.

Bestie and I think it's because you can't charge for the screening since you're doing it on site.  They'd be a first for the convention (and could set a nasty precedent of people a la carting events).  They also don't want people without badges on the Convention grounds during the Con.  It's why they refuse to host an "off-site" event like a massive movie screening on site.  And this does not even bring into account the line up nightmare.

Cause the MOST LOGICAL thing would be to Open Hall H, charge $30-$50 dollars, and have that include some type of swag and a food voucher.  (You could honestly price it at $75-100 if the swag was GOOD and there was like a Q&A after.)

(Or they do it by the evil L Word.  *whispers* Lotto)

So, like I said,

No ;)

I’m just happy that our confidence in Endgame paid off. While I always thought it had a shot, my faith in it did falter a few times when the numbers looked bleak. Glad to see that it was able to make it after all. A while ago I said I would die on the hill that Endgame is going to pass Avatar somehow. I guess I picked a good hill to die on.

What have you cooked up for your celebratory thread on ERA :Gaga:

I feel like Disney would be obligated to push it over $2.8 billion if it got that close. The plot twist is that they do a Labor Day expansion not for Avatar, but for $2.8 billion.

Why would Disney do a Labor Day expansion for Avatar when the sequel is still 2.5 years away?

Edit: I am stupid, I thought you were talking about them re-releasing Avatar on Labor Day.
