Will break:

Total gross in:

Paraguay – IW ($1.1M) ???

Probably a lot of other Asian markets, probably in South American and Africa.

No idea:

Serbia and Monenegro – Montevideo, bog te video ($2.2M) – IW ($??)

OW wise:

The picture looks way better.

There I’d say it won’t break records in:

UK (Spectre 7-day, though that is kinda cheating, TFA OW could be close $50.7M)

Japan (Opening decreased in size, SW EPIII 19M, TFA 10M, despite higher final gross for TFA)

Germany (TFA $27.2M – IW $15.3M)

France (Ch’tis $31.6M – IW 17.6M)

Maybe India

Some other European countries

Too lazy to find OW everywhere.

But I guess there are some others where it won’t break OW but not many, in Sweden, for example, IW and TFA OWs are basically the same, but totals are worlds apart.

Two aspects for avatar and Europe. Of course the hype for it , being Cameron’s next movie after titanic, was huge BUT....the euro was extremely strong at that time (maybe 1.5$) and so was the british pound. Also the 3d factor was gigantic at the time.

Yeah 3D Factor Was Gigantic At that time ... But James Cameron Brand Also Worked ..  Admissions-wise Avatar Still the 2nd Most Watched Film in Europe After Titanic ... Picture Will Clear After Avatar 2 ..

I don't think american posters on here understand how big Titanic and Avatar were in France when they see that AE OW up above and already talking about taking those down.

Titanic sold 20,6M tickets in 1997/98. Avatar sold 14,6M tickets in 2009/10.

Avengers: Infinity War? 5,1M in 2018...

$2 billion OS on the table?

Would require a massive Chinese over performance.

1.5 billion is locked overseas, 1.6 billion likely.

Exactly the same applies to Spain:

Titanic: 11.2 million admissions

Avatar: 9.5

Infinity War: 3.4

And the same applies to some other European countries. For this reason it is so hard to beat Avatar.

We're not talking about taking Avatar down in France. The OW is way over IW, and Asian/Latin American overperformance is the path to beating Avatar WW, so Europe just needs that significant increase over IW to match. (I don't think it's likely, but that's the path, and it's far from impossible).

I think we should look at EG performance against other Superhero movie.

I think in Europe it looks like it be the best ever or near the best.

Has a chance to be the highest Superhero ever (let's ignore Men In Black), €/$ it would probably happen as that in most places I think already is IW, adm. is not so certain.

But wouldn't count on it everywhere.

Germany: Spider-Man 5.2M adm., IW 3.4M adm.

France: Spider-Man 6.48M adm, IW 5.1M (this is possible)

For Russia it is

Avatar: 14.2m

IW: 7.8m

But with the current ER, a movie with 14m admissions would only gross around 70m$.

Comicbook movies will never break records in Europe, many people love these movies over here but they're not as universally appealing as Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter,Marvel/DC are very typically American products so it's gonna clash with European tastes.

Latin America is a more fertile ground for these movies.

RTH says OD in Australia is A$10.2m, breaking the record held by TFA by 9%. Tomorrow is a public holiday and will in his words be, "huge".

The (admittedly early) numbers out of France are the most impressive so far imo. Since CM didn't do great there I thought Endgame wouldn't increase much from IW
