Why wouldn't she come back? The movie's going to be a huge hit. Reviews may be mixed by Marvel standards but they praise a lot of elements including her direction. As others pointed out, the script is the villain which isn't unusual for Marvel.

I'm not blaming her.  It will be a "mutual decision."  Many of these MCU directors are one-and-done.  This really wouldn't be surprising.

Reminds me as a Bond fan of OHMSS. EON wouldn’t try to make a Bond picture like that again until maybe arguably License to Kill 20 years later and we didn’t have a downer 007 ending until Casino Royale nearly 40 years later.

Could happen, but I'd wager they'll just exert tighter control on the script. Now that might cause her to want to leave, so maybe.

Plus there is talks of diversity and inclusion, there will be some buffers in reviews.. the critics won't be so harsh.

 

But I think WoM will be mixed - average / poor WoM from G.A but many fans will say it is the best MCU film anf that the studio took risks etc..

and those MCs are final so we don't know whether they were going up and down, down and up, etc. Eternals has just started on MC and RT and we should also expect that both might freeze at some point until the release when we will get a second wave.

professional critics reviews have 0 effect on blockbusters ' box office btw, this will still open to 90-105M next week despite critics being low on it. 

 

Venom 2 was more panned and opened to 90M few weeks ago.

 

and iirc TSS is best reviewed CBM of the year and it's the biggest superhero bomb since 2017 Justice League. 

 

imo when it comes to blockbusters critics reviews don't effect WoM/BO. when good box office correlates with good reviews it's more likely to be a coincidence than a direct causation.
