I bet Marvel wasn’t really expecting this reaction or they wouldn’t have dropped the embargo this early.

Die was cast for early review embargo once Eternals was slated for a festival release.  Even if Marvel suspected there might be problems it was too late to stop the train from exiting the station.

It's interesting looking back at the Best Picture winners and their followups:

2020: Nomadland (Eternals)

2017: The Shape of Water (Nightmare Alley)

2016: Moonlight (Beale Street)

2015: Spotlight (Timmy Failure lol)

2014: Birdman (The Revenant)

2013: 12 Years a Slave (Widows)

2012: Argo (Live By Night)

2011: The Artist (The Search)

2010: The King's Speech (Les Mis)

Lol I still haven't gotten over King's Speech winning!

At least 2 of the nominated films that year  "Black Swan"and "True Grit" were much better then the King's Speech.

Of course, I still don't get how the hell "Shakespear In Love" an enjoyable but not really great film..won over "Saving Private Ryan" and "Elizabeth".

Wow, the dancing on the grave began before the film even released.

Not seeing so much of that as overreaction by the MCU fans to a MCU movie not getting a home run reception.

Let's put it this way: in a world where a movie that got ripped like Venom 2 got ripped was still a hit, I don't see any problem with "Eternals" doing very well at the box office.

Peter Farrelly will be ruling the Oscar race again next year with the Zac Efron/Russell Crowe/Bill Murray movie that will do for beer brands what Green Book did for KFC.

I enjoy AoU though I do see the problems it scores seem fine to me.

TDW should be so damn rotten and not like high 50's but like 40% it's just bad tbh.

CM,BW,Drstrange,AM&tW,ironman 2 should be in the 60's.

Ironman 3 is one I enjoy but it's just like AOU for me.

Even though eternals falls in the TDW critical range I don't think it will be bad as it and mediocre as some others I have mentioned.

The fact that this will end up with the lowest average RT rating (currently 6.10/10) of all MCU films is astounding to me. If you had made a poll 2 months ago on the odds that Eternals would "achieve" such a feat, literally no one would pick it.

Yeah reviews will end up around Thor 2 on both RT and Metacritic. If the movie is as boring as they say then WOM will be awful.

bruh you were literally doing this for Dune for months

And Dune made basically half what it would have without HBO Max. And the second weekend will likely be a substantial dropoff like all Max releases have been. People predicting this will be a huge bomb two weeks out from release based off of a 70 percent RT range is ludicrous.

So what is your expectations for Eternals now?

Will it gross more domestically than Dune WW?
