Damn even ultron did 100 million more after a 3 million third Wednesday , IW really has to crumble (for real) under the weight of competition to miss 700 million. Overseas is contributing to the overall gross that Warner Brothers had counted on when green-lighting the budget. They certainly made a better calculation than sad sacks that greenlit PRU with hopes of 500M in China. No, seriously, Rampage OS of over 300M is solid as the Rock.

I think the hero versus hero concept and esp. the last 10-15 minutes, which were brutal with ca and WS beating the crap out of iron man really left a bad taste at the GA.

Captain America: Civil War did not crater it. It's a CAPTAIN AMERICA film that went over and beyond what a Captain America film should rightfully make based on the first and second film numbers. It was not Avengers 2.5, and if anything, Infinity War has proved that. Civil War performed over and beyond the expectations of a CAPTAIN AMERICA film. GA clearly loved it, but it's still a freaking Captain America film.

Keep in mind, I'm not saying it bombed and I'm not talking about overall gross. I'm simply saying the drops were baaaad. It's not a dig at the movie or anything, it's just the truth. So very close to BP (that has done almost 190 million after) and far above avengers (that did 140 million after) . Seems like 700 million is coming closer, let’s see how it will react to the upcoming competition. They compare them because they opened around similar numbers, which definitely doesn't make this any better (as TFA opened $10M below and now is $199.5M ahead) but the comparison get's slightly better by today, as TFA and TLJ lose the advantage of Christmas and New Year days, though the comparison will only be okay for IW for the next two to three weeks as Summer then will start to help IW. And most other movies just opened a lot lower. Edited May 16, 2018 by Taruseth
