Lego Movie and Ninjago count. Roger Rabbit doesn't.

I’m pretty content with my list at the moment. I haven’t seen THAT many animated films to make a definitive Top 100. If I did, it would include a lot of movies I’d give a 6 or a 7 and that just doesn’t feel right to me.

 

So, I’m good with 50, thanks!

 I am not going to get into a quality based argument here, because neither of us are changing our minds. 

 

I will say though that regardless of its eligibility in this vote or not, for me personally I do not see it as an animated film. A CGI film yes but not animated. 

I do also accept that this is a line getting blurred more and more with motion capture CGI animation and so forth. 

So for me, even if I considered Avatar the greatest film of all time, I would not vote for it because I do not consider it animated. 

 

Same goes for something like the new Jungle Book, which I believed could have qualified to lobby for best animated feature at the Oscars even,and is one of my top 100 films of all time.

It will not make my list however because under my personal view of what is animation. It is not. 

 

Puppets however... puppets are clearly fair game to vote for

The line is really tuff actually, if you look at Spongebob movie it has some live actions scenes with the HOFF, why is Spongebob movie and animation and not Avatar?

 

I don't really understand the line myself but based off feel Avatar isn't an animation.

 

Maybe it's whether or not it's shot with a camera? but then stop-motion doesn't count.. confusing

I agree with a lot of this, and it almost seems like the feel is whether Hollywood tells me the film is animated or not. 

 

Kubo and the Two Strings and Team america are both sold as animated films despite predominantly being films with cameras (and I will vote for them as animations). 

 

Avatar and The Jungle Book were not pushed in such a way therefore it (personally to me) feel ridiculous to vote for them as animations. Even if there is an ironclad argument for why they are,
