BOT's Top 100 Movie Characters ... Absolute Final Deadline August 4th. Do not be late

I think this list is too subjective.  Your #1 character isn’t even from a film in the top 150 films worldwide.

I’m disappointed that’s very unobjective of you.  You should go with something exact, and not prone to bias, like this list!

Don't worry folks. That's just my "current" list and by no means final! Please also note that a list can be objective without using the criterion of box office gross. So long as the criterion being used is quantifiable it can still be objective. We're all adults here, no need for me to start gushing about epistemology again.

@chasmmi would you be able to give me a working definition of 'Cinematic Universe'? Are the Alien movies counted in this as they share the 'AVP Cinematic universe?' or do they fall under the 'franchise' heading? Another question also, is Godzilla from the 1954 movie classed as a unique character, and the same for the 1998 movie, and the 2014 movie?

Could I have a list that went:

1. Godzilla (1954)

2. Godzilla (1998)

3. Godzilla (2014)

Or do I simply list 'Godzilla'?

Cinematic Universe is really just to deal with Marvel and the Avengers because those 3 films connect so many otherwise major characters in their own films.

Same Deal with Bond because there are 57 films there.

I'll do things case by case. For Aliens, the Ripley films are one franchise, Prometheus another, and AVP... yes those were films i suppose.

Godzilla... well for human characters when the character is rebooted, it can be voted for twice (e.g. Bond, Han Solo or whatever, so same goes for monsters I suppose. If its a different lineage, it is a different character.

Are animated characters from shorts eligible? (I.e. Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunby, etc.) I only mean shorts that premiered in the movie theater, not TV characters who then appeared in movies (like the Simpsons).

Feature Length characters only I would say.

Top Billed Actor’s character (and then down the list if the characters already listed), obviously.  If they’re getting top billing they must obviously be the most popular

James Cameron was the highest paid actor in Avatar as he brilliantly voice acted in it.

Panda you're a genius you found a way for James Cameron to be the greatest actor of all time.

Oh shit. This is brilliant. He voice acts in most of his movies too. Even 'voiced' the Queen Alien.

People.... Chas mentioned that real life people are not going to qualify for this list so for example Jordan Belfort from Wolf of Wall Street cannot be on the list, nor can Ed Wood, Sweeny Todd, Tommy DeVito (all of these are real life people) . I'm not sure if perhaps Tommy DeVito or Sweeny Todd are different enough from the real people to qualify.

Who's the real-life Sweeney Todd?

...Sweeney Todd is a fictional character that originated as an urban legend. There are historical figures that people believe he is based off of but nothing concrete that everyone can agree on. I say he should count but of course, that’s not up for me to decide.
