I thought the same about La La Land.  People found a way.

I think the one benefit to Bohemian Rhapsody's Globe win has been zero thinkpieces toward A Star is Born. While the "La La Land is racist" articles didn't start after the movie's Globe sweep, it definitely was the impetus that pushed these thinkpieces into becoming more rapid, and more popular amongst the mainstream. If ASIB won Best Picture, we probably would have gotten at least 20 Jezebel articles by now.

The good ol days when you go to the movies and you simply didn't gave a fuck if the actors were yellow, white, black or purple ... or if the DP had a vagina ...

Those were the days ...

This.

Or complaints like "Gee, Green Book portrays a white man driving around a black man, which is nice. But wait, now it's making said white guy out to be a white saviour type!! Let's whine and complain about the injustice of it all!!"

for movies like this it's fun how people drop their moral outrages and righteous causes immediately after the oscar. no one's gonna care about any of this stuff the day after. no one has accused 3 billboards or la la land of being racist since they lost the oscars. really gives an air of legitimacy to the whole outrage.

Those were the days when the leads were mostly white.

There is logical reasoning behind this. When a movie lost, it lost public attention too. Some of these "outrageous" people were trying to convince others these movies were such and such. Ideology, not the movies, came first for these people.  When the public no longer cared about a movie, so did they. They would go after something else in the public spotlight.

Worry about what is happening in Alberta and allow Americans to speak about THEIR sociopolitical conversations. Why the fuck are people from Transylvania always trying to speak about the social pinnings of shit that they do not know? It is has become absolutely beyond annoying at this point.

It's the other way around. Most reviews that I've read describe the story as a "magical negro" helping his less sophisticated white employee grow as a person with little backstory given to the black man.
