For a while, I've wanted to do a horror countdown. It's one of my favorite genres (possibly my favorite), and there are so many different types of horror films out there. After the interest in @Brainbug and @baumer's own personal countdowns, I knew I had to finally do the forum-wide one I've wanted to do for a while!

 

The Rules

 

2018 movies released before September are eligible. Yes, this means you won't be able to vote for Halloween, The Nun, or Hell Fest, but Strangers: Prey at Night and Blumhouse's Truth or Dare are all eligible among other movies! If a lot of people have an issue with 2018 movies being eligible, I will consider changing this rule.

 

If it's listed as horror on IMDb, Letterboxd, or Wikipedia, it's eligible. I know there are movies like The Silence of the Lambs that some don't consider horror, but if any of those three sites consider it a horror film, it's fair game. If you have a movie in mind that isn't listed in the genre, post it in here, and I may make it eligible depending on my own thoughts and what the rest of the forum considers it.

 

You may edit your list up until the deadline.

 

Post your lists in this thread. I don't know if I'll have an account with enough inbox space close to the deadline :lol: 

 

Scoring

#1: 12 points

#2-5: 9 points

#6-10: 8 points

#11-15: 7 points

#16-20: 6 points

#21-25: 5 points

#26-30: 4 points

#31-40: 3 points

#41-45: 2 points

#46-50: 1 points

If you submit 25 or fewer movies, point values will be cut in half. If you submit more than 25 but less than 50, standard points still apply.

If you only submit a top 10, each film will get the corresponding category value.

Lists with less than 10 movies will not be allowed.

 

The deadline is Friday October 19 at 11:59 PM Eastern

 

You have over 3 months to watch horror movies, so take advantage of this time! Baumer said this thread will be moved to the Speakeasy in a few days, so this is just a very early heads up :)

Ok, so this will be pinned for one week, then we will move it to the Speakeasy.

This is a great idea from @WrathOfHan...hopefully you guys remember there are classic horror films that were here long before films like Babadook and Hereditary and Get Out.

This especially (all three of which may or may not be on my list :ph34r: ). The Criterion sale is starting next week at Barnes and Noble, and there's plenty of great horror flicks in there to get.

I know, i know, but i need a 2nd watch for that to truly determine where i would place it - and it would be a bit strange for the others here if the list ive counted down only 3 weeks ago would be different, no?

I don't think so. We're all always discovering new things. Plus it won't have been 3 weeks ago by October.
