Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd @Reddroast I assume it's PG-13 but you forgot a rating for One Piece.

Don't feel too bad because @YourMother the Edgelord forgot a rating for Can You Imagine?

And even @Spagheditary forgot a budget for Belmond Lane!

PG for thematic elements, mild action and rude humor for Can You Imagine?. Pretty sure it was on there though.

Plot Summary: Twelve years after the events of The Royal Engagement, Queen Mia faces intense pressure to produce an heir while dealing with a snap election in the Genovian Parliament.

Plot:

Two years after the events of The Royal Engagement, Mia and Nicholas are married with their wedding broadcast on T.V. for the whole world to see. As the two leave the church, a paparazzo calls out to Mia: “Queen Mia, when are you having kids?”

Cut to 10 years later: Mia and Nicholas are living comfortably as royals. Mia goes about her daily duties as queen. At the palace, it becomes apparent that Mia and Nicholas have no children. One day Clarisse and Joe come to visit from Maldonia, where they went to retire after Clarisse was tired of the Genovian paparazzi. Clarisse asks Mia about having kids, reminding her that ensuring Genovia is in the right hands for future generations is one of the most important responsibilities a queen can have. She’s not a princess anymore. Mia tells her the time isn’t right, but it’s clear that Nicholas also wants children soon, even though he worries he might not be the best father after his uncle raised him.

Mia leaves to address Parliament, where she clashes with the current Prime Minister, Fredrick Bartson about her plans to develop new women’s centers in Genovia’s capital. Mia tells Parliament that the centers will provide resources for poorer women and children in Genovia. The Parliament members seem to be split, with Louise Yang, a representative, speaking out in support of Mia’s idea, and the session adjourns. Afterwards, Fredrick tells Mia that her plans are a lost cause, and that as long as he’s uncontested as Prime Minister he’ll never let her do the project. Mia responds with as long as the Parliament remains in gridlock, she doesn’t see any reason to be smug about it. When it comes down it, Fredrick is electable; Mia has nothing to lose. Fredrick seams at this and walks out in anger.

As Mia leaves the Parliamentary house, she’s stopped by the reporter Sean Reynolds, who asks her about her rivalry with Fredrick. When Mia keeps her composure, Sean asks her about her plans to start a family, striking a nerve with Mia. She asks him why women are only viewed as baby factories even when they’re the leader of a monarchy, then leaves.

At the Palace, Clarisse and Joe reacquaint themselves with Genovia, and Clarisse reminisces about raising Mia’s father on the Palace grounds. When Joe affectionately tells Clarisse she was a wonderful mother, Clarisse asks if Joe ever regrets not starting a family with his first wife. He avoids the subject, telling her his first marriage was painful for him. Clarisse apologizes for upsetting him, but he assures her it was a long time ago, and it was a very quick marriage. They decide to go take Nicholas’s dog, Reginald, for a walk on the palace grounds.

Later that night, Mia and Nicholas prepare for a dinner with a visiting African king Olusegun Amobi and his daughter Princess Nnenne. After sharing a sweet kiss, Nicholas gently brings up the idea of having children. Mia gets angry with him, telling him she expected to get a reprieve from the children talk in her own home. Nicholas argues with her, telling her home is where they should be talking about it. He tells her they’re both getting older, and before Mia can respond, a knock is heard at the door, Nicholas goes to answer it and it’s Joe, who has decided to be the butler for old times sake. He asks if he and Clarisse can join the four of them for dinner and Mia responds with a yes, she could use more company.

At the dinner, things are tense between the two couples, and Princess Nnenne notices. When King Amobi asks Mia how her development project is going, she admits it could be better, but he encourages her, telling her she is a good role model for the young women of Genovia, and for his daughter. Nicholas affectionately agrees although Clarisse mentions that Mia would be a wonderful mother as well. Mia glares at Clarisse and says she can't even think of having children until the country is in better hands than Fredrick's. Clarisse is about to reply when Joe defuses the situation by saying even without her own children, she’s inspiring children across the globe. King Amobi tells the group he is very tired from his flight and would like to get to bed. Amobi mentions he was hoping that Nicholas could show his daughter around tomorrow while he and Mia meet up. Nicholas seems hesitant but agrees.

However, their dinner is interrupted when an aide comes in and tells them turn on the news. A press conference led by Fredrick is on the air and he is announcing a snap election that will take place within four weeks. This will allow their awful infighting to end as the people of Genovia vote in a new government that he’s confident will be a majorly “Genovia first” ideology. Nicholas encourages Mia, telling her this could be a good thing if Fredrick can be defeated. She seems unsure.

The next day when Parliament reconvenes, Fredrick snidely asks Mia doesn’t she have an ethnic guest to entertain. Mia seethes but keeps her composure. Fredrick shrugs and says that Genovia’s government will finally be in order when he’s fully in charge. He makes a speech to Parliament detailing the changes he plans to make, including limiting welfare spending. From the press stand, Sean watches. Louise Yang stands up in disgust and says she can’t handle this buffoonery anymore. She storms out and Sean follows her, asking her why she just left Parliament. She says she will have a press conference in ten minutes outside on the steps.

On the GNN, Yang announces her run for Prime Minister. She passionately agrees with Mia’s stances. As Fredrick exits the House, the press swarms him, asking him what his response is. He tells the press that if the Queen cared so much about children, then why wouldn’t she have any of her own, and that her decision to not have children is damaging to Genovia’s future. As he walks away, Mia exits the House and the press swarms her even more, asking her about the future of Genovia and when she’ll have children. She evades the press and runs away to her car. When she enters the vehicle, she is surprised to find Joe behind the wheel. He drives her away to a private park in the forest.

At the park, Mia laments to Joe about how much she loves Genovia and being queen, but how much she hates how women are treated still. She tearfully admits to Joe that at this point she might not even want children, but she knows she has to for the future of Genovia. Joe consoles her, and reveals a secret of his own: his first wife recently passed and a daughter he never knew he had has reached out to him. Mia is shocked but encourages him to get in contact with her. Joe is hesitant on how Clarisse will react but she assures him her grandmother will understand as long as she tells him the truth. Joe doesn’t commit to anything, but also doesn’t say no.

At the Palace, Nicholas has lunch with Amobi and Nnenne. Amobi excuses himself and encourages Nicholas to spend time with his daughter. Nicholas awkwardly tries to make conversation with the young princess, who bluntly tells him he’s not doing a good job talking to her so far. He asks her what she would like to do. She tells him she has an idea.

Mia has returned on the castle grounds and seems to be in better spirits. She talks to her mom Helen on the phone about the politics in Genovia, and Helen tells her she is proud of her for standing up for what she believes in. Mia changes the subject, asking her mom what it was like to have her brother at an older age. Helen tells her it wasn’t a bad decision, but she regrets that she’ll be older as her son grows up. Mia is then interrupted by Nicholas and Nnenne, who ride up on horses. Mia ends the call with her mom and looks up at Nicholas in surprise, telling him she hasn’t seen him ride a horse in years. He tells her he had forgotten how much he loves riding horses, and that it was Nnenne’s idea. Nnenne then challenges Nicholas to a race, and they ride off.

While riding, Nnenne loses control of her horse. Nicholas races over to her in concern. He comforts the shaken princess, then suggests they go inside and watch a movie.

Inside, Mia meets with King Amobi. Amobi is bemused by the conflicting politics in Genovia, asking her if she supports Louise’s bid for Prime Minister. Mia admits she likes Louise and her politics, but is not sure if it would be appropriate to publicly endorse her. Amobi assures her that her job as queen is to always make sure her country is thriving, and if she thinks Louise would help Genovia thrive, she should let her subjects know. Mia thinks about this.

Later Mia contacts Sean, telling him she will give him an exclusive interview if he stops writing speculative pieces about her having children. He agrees. They meet at Sean’s office, where Mia wants to get down to business, but Sean starts a more friendly conversation with her. Mia asks him why he is an American reporter in Genovia. He admits that he was drawn to the Genovia because of its fair politics and benevolent monarchy. Mia questions if he supports Fredrick for Prime Minister. He admits he doesn’t agree with a lot of what he says, but he’s not sure if Louise would be much better. He explains that without a strong platform besides just agreeing with the queen, Louise won’t have much to offer Genovia. Mia sees his point, but tells him bluntly that she called him to have him report that she supports Louise. Sean is surprised Mia would want to tell the public that, but agrees to write it. The conversation is interrupted by Mia’s phone ringing. When she sees it’s from Joe, she excuses herself. Unable to resist listening in, he catches a snippet of her conversation, and hears the name “Ana Rivera.” Mia wraps up her call and tells him she has to leave. They say their goodbyes and Sean goes on his computer to search for Ana Rivera in relation to Mia, but finds nothing. He then searches Ana in relation to Joe, and finds an obituary for Ana’s mother, Joe’s former wife.

At home Mia is in better spirits as she gets ready for bed. She asks Nicholas how his day with Nnenne went. He tells her it was eventful and that Nnenne has a lot of spunk. Mia tells him he looked very attractive when he was looking out for the young princess, and that she thinks he would make a great father despite what he thinks. Nicholas tells Mia again that she would be a great mother as well. They passionately kiss, and then make love while half-naked.

The next morning, Mia and Nicholas have breakfast with Clarisse, Joe, Amobi, and Nnenne. Nicholas reads the paper and everyone is shocked to see the front page has the headline: FORMER QUEEN HAS SECRET STEPDAUGHTER. Clarisse is offended by what she thinks is fake news, and snatches the paper away to read the story. She skims and looks up at Joe, who tells her he needs to explain. Clarisse storms off, and Joe follows her. Mia looks at the article and sees the byline is written by Sean. She seethes and also storms out. Nicholas is left alone with Amobi and Nnenne. Amobi suggests that Nicholas and Nnenne spend some time indoors today to avoid the paparazzi, then excuses himself.

Clarisse sits stoickly in her room when Joe enters. Joe is extremely apologetic about the experience. He tells Clarisse that he didn’t mean to keep his daughter a secret from her, and that he didn’t even know she existed until recently. He asks Clarisse’s permission to fly Ana to the Palace to meet in person. She reluctantly agrees, but she doesn’t forgive him. Joe shrugs and says he wouldn’t forgive him either.

Mia storms into Sean’s office, swarmed by paparazzi, and is surprised to see Fredrick there with Sean. She loses her temper at Sean, accusing him of purposely listening in on her conversation in order to make the royal family look bad so that Fredrick would have an advantage. Sean says he’s just there to report the news, any accusation of political bias is just projection of Mia’s. Mia tells him that his reporting is useless if he doesn’t respect people and their privacy.. Sean snarks that Mia has definitely been in Genovia long enough to forget what that old fashioned freedom of the press is. Mia storms out, but not before hearing Fredrick begin to be interviewed by Sean.

At the airport, Joe waits at arrivals for Ana. Several people pass by him until a young latina woman catches his eye. She approaches him and gives him a big hug. “It’s nice to meet you, Dad,” she tells him. He hugs her back, choking back tears.

At the Palace, Nicholas and Nnenne watch the paparazzi swarming the gates from an inside window. Nnenne asks if it’s always like this when you’re a royal. Nicholas tells her the paparazzi in Genovia have always been a problem and that even when he was a kid they would follow him around. She tells him she’s uncomfortable being watched by them so closely, and he agrees. Then Nicholas comes up with an idea to goof around in front of the paparazzi so they’re not so intimidating. He turns on a pop song (“Growing Pains”)  and Nnenne freaks out, saying she loves Zendaya. Nicholas smiles and encourages Nnenne to let loose. Nnenne is afraid to dance but Nicholas shows her how to have fun for all the paparazzi to see.

At Louise’s office, Mia carefully goes over each detail of their press conference starting in a few minutes. When Mia coaches Louise on exactly what to say, Louise stops her, telling her she’s the one running for Prime Minister, not Mia. Mia explains that everything has to be perfect or the press will twist it. Louise responds that she knows how the press is; she’s been a representative for a while now. There’s no way to control the press completely, and at the end of the day, they’re just trying to get information out to the people. She tells Mia to trust her and the press, even if she doesn’t agree one hundred percent with everything they say.

In the foyer, Clarisse waits anxiously. Joe then enters with Ana. The former queen stands, clearly intimidating Ana. Joe introduces the two women, hoping that they can become fast friends. Clarisse suggests they eat lunch. When Clarisse turns to leave, Ana walks in front of her. Clarisse non-verbally expresses her annoyance to Joe and Joe corrects Ana. Ana is confused but listens to Joe.

Louise and Mia’s press conference begins. Mia gets nervous when she sees Sean in the front row, but Louise calmly leads the discussion about her plans as Prime Minister. Sean asks Louise if she’ll be used as a puppet by the monarchy, to which she replies that her running has been a long time coming and that the Queen’s recent transgressions with Fredrick encouraged, not inspired her to run. He then asks if the women’s centers project will move forward under watch. She tells him she can’t make any promises, but that with her as the Prime Minister women will be put first in Genovia. The press conference ends with Mia and Louise posing for pictures and leaving. Sean takes notes.

At lunch at the Palace, things are tense between Joe, Clarisse, and Ana. Ana brings up a story her mother used to tell her about her father, and says that as a little girl she always expected her dad to be some Prince Charming who lives in a castle. Clarisse is clearly uncomfortable when Ana asks how Clarisse and Joe met, and changes the subject. They then briefly talk about the upcoming election, but Ana and Joe are embarrassed when Clarisse openly criticizes Ana’s table manners. The meal is cut short when Ana excuses herself. Joe gets up to follow her, but Clarisse says she’ll go instead.

Clarisse follows Ana out to the gardens and is surprised to find Ana in tears. The younger woman looks up at Clarisse and hides her face. She asks Clarisse why she decided from the moment they met that she doesn’t like her. Clarisse tells her she’s been with Joe for a long time and even if he’s not a royal, he’s still the most important person to her. She admits that with Ana around she’s reminded of a time when she didn’t treat Joe like a husband, or even a friend. Ana assures her that on the car ride to the Palace Joe gushed about how wonderful and down to earth Clarisse is. Ana tells her that she didn’t want to meet Joe to become a princess or famous; she just wanted to have a father. Clarisse apologizes and tells her that every girl deserves to be treated like a princess by her father.

Amobi meets back up with Nicholas and Nnenne. He remarks that Nnenne seems to have broken out of her shell a lot more in the past few days, and thanks Nicholas. Nicholas replies that Nnenne helped him a lot more than he helped her. Then, Clarisse and Ana come in with Joe. Nnenne introduces herself to Ana. Ana hesitates her introduction, unsure of what to call herself. Joe cuts in and tells Nnenne she is his daughter, then Clarisse cuts in herself and calls Ana her stepdaughter. Nicholas introduces himself, welcoming her into the family. Mia comes in and sees everyone together. She introduces herself to Ana. Ana thanks her for encouraging Joe to invite her. The group goes to dinner.

At dinner, the group all has a good time laughing and enjoying each others’ company. A montage begins. Scenes of Mia helping Louise with her campaign, Nicholas and Nnenne spending time together before Nnenne and her father leave, Clarisse and Ana spending time together, and Ana, Clarisse and Joe saying goodbye to Mia and Nicholas play out.

The montage ends with Mia in her bedroom getting ready for the debate between Louise and Fredrick. She stands up from her dressing table and pauses, then quickly runs to her bathroom and throws up. She sits back on the bathroom floor, then pulls out her phone. She dials and calls her mom, telling her, “I might have some news.” Nicholas walks in and asks her what news.

Cut to Mia exiting the bathroom later. Nicholas sits on the bed with Helen and Patrick on video chat. Helen demands to know what the results are. Mia shows Nicholas a pregnancy test, which he shows Helen and Patrick. It’s positive! Helen tells them she’s happy she’ll finally be a grandparent. They say their goodbyes and hang up. Nicholas kisses Mia, telling her he’s happy and excited. Mia is unsure. Nicholas tells her it’s still so early that so they don’t have to tell anyone yet. He assures her she’ll be a wonderful mother. She’s still hesitant to accept the news, saying that she should take another test. He tells her she’s taken 3 tests already, and encourages her to focus on the election in a few days instead if it will help her take her mind off of things.

At the debate, Louise prepares her talking points for going against Fredrick. She spots Sean and thanks him for the article he wrote about the press conference. He tells her that he was just giving information, and that what she said spoke for itself. He wishes her luck and goes to take his seat. The debate starts when Fredrick takes his place at the opposite podium. He smirks at Louise, telling her she looks cute. She remains calm.

Mia and Nicholas watch on TV from the Palace. The debate, moderated by Anderson Cooper, plays out and it’s pretty close. Louise clearly has better arguments but Fredrick is more charismatic. The time comes to make closing statements. Louise goes first and says that Genovia without powerful women is not the real Genovia at all. Fredrick twists her words and says that if she is to call the queen unpowerful, she is being slanderous of the monarchy. He also slyly mentions how the former queen is powerless in her situation with her new step daughter. Louise loses her temper and tells him and the audience that no one should vote for a man like Fredrick who bullies people and doesn’t truly love his country the way it should be loved. The debate ends when Anderson Cooper speaks about his part-Genovian roots and how much the country means to him.

Mia turns off the TV and Nicholas consoles her, but she tells him she’s okay and that she’s confident that Louise will pull through, even if she’s behind in the polls. Nicholas decides to cheer her up and suggests they go on a picnic like they used to.

Outside on the grounds, Mia and Nicholas snuggle and enjoy their picnic. The topic comes back to Mia’s pregnancy. They discuss if they want a boy or girl and what they’ll name it. Nicholas remarks that Mia seems to be taking news well, and Mia says the same thing about him. He tells her he was unsure about being a father but hanging out with Nnenne gave him some perspective. They kiss.

A few days later, Mia goes around the Genovian capital stopping at polling booths to support people’s voting. She sees Sean there and coldly asks him if he’s here for a story on her. He tells her of course he’s not; he’s here to vote. She dismisses him, telling him good luck voting for Fredrick. Sean stops and tells her that being a journalist and being a royal are quite similar; it’s important to look at things from all perspectives, even if you don’t necessarily agree with them. He apologizes for writing the story about Ana, telling her that he knew the story would blow over with the election, but the damage to her reputation if he wrote a story about her supporting Louise might have been irreparable. Surprised, she thanks him. He goes off to vote, but not before telling her that even if Louise doesn’t win, he knows she’ll get the women’s shelters up and running somehow, and he’ll be glad to report on it when it happens. He says in the meantime, if she’s got other news he can report on he’ll do that as well, and she rebuffs him. Noticing her defensive reaction and piecing it together, he points out that any big gossipy news would still be second to the election and so if she has anything she wants to announce now would be the time. She tells him she’ll think about it and he leaves to go vote.

With a plate of eggs and bacon in front of him, Nicholas sits at a table reading the newspaper. We can see LOUISE YANG WINS in the big headline. However, when Mia walks in, he smugly smiles at her, pointing the article on page 3; QUEEN ANNOUNCES PREGNANCY. He asks her what they should do now. She smiles and says, “now we party.”

Cut to SIX MONTHS LATER, Mia has a baby bump. She sits at her baby shower with Helen and Lilly. They watch Nicholas chase Nnenne around while Clarisse and Ana sit in a corner talking about Joe. Joe returns with some fresh omelette fromage, sharing it with Clarisse and Ana. Amobi approaches Mia and congratulates her, telling her he knew she could do it. Mia thanks him for his advice about the election, but he laughs and says that’s not what he meant. He winks and walks off. Louise arrives with Sean in tow. Mia jokingly tells Sean this is a press-free event. Louise cuts in and says her that Sean is actually her plus one. Mia playfully says that this must be why Sean doesn’t write about politics anymore. Sean blushes and congratulates Mia on expecting twins. Mia is surprised that he’s heard that since she hasn’t announced it yet. He says he has still has his sources and smiles, walking away with Louise in tow.

On a small stage, Nicholas speaks into a microphone, thanking everybody for coming to celebrate with them. He says he has a surprise, and Zendaya comes out and sings an original song (“Growing Pains”). Nnenne screams in delight, being a huge fan of Zendaya! The crowd enjoys the song and everybody dances. Nicholas and Mia join in singing and eventually Clarisse joins them as well, although Zendaya lets her have a solo. A reprise of “Miracles Happen” begins, and in the midst of dancing Mia spins in a circle with Nicholas. Over the music, he asks her if she’s excited about being a mother. She gleefully tells him yes!

During the credits, a dedication card shows up to Garry Marshall and Whitney Houston appears before the scroll begins.

Theaters: 20 (8/14), 2,632 (8/21)

MPAA Rating: R

Running Time: 127 minutes

Cast: Paul Giamatti (Wallace), Gael Garcia Bernal (Mauricio Lopez), Salma Hayek (Veronica Salazar), Alicia Silverstone (Erin), Demián Bichir (Father Hidalgo), Alondra Hidalgo (Adriana), Yalitza Aparicio (Stumbling Woman), Adriana Fonseca (Receptionist), Bruno Bichir (Director of Photography)

Summary: When an American sound designer (Giamatti) travels to Mexico to work on a horror film, he uncovers a potential murder on set that no one seems to know about, not even the director (Bernal). In his search for the killer, the lines between reality and fiction begin to blur.

Plot:

In the Chihuahuan Desert, a young woman (Yalitza Aparicio) stumbles forward clutching a tape recorder close to her chest, disheveled with tears streaming down her face. She continues to walk nowhere in particular, until she collapses of starvation.

Smash cut to Mexico City. Wallace (Paul Giamatti) walking through a long hallway up to a receptionist’s desk. He tells the receptionist (Adriana Fonseca) that he received a call a week ago from “Mr. Lopez” about meeting for work on a potential film project, and asks if he’s available to talk. The receptionist picks up the phone, dials a number, and begins speaking in Spanish. She hangs up, and tells Wallace in English, “he’s ready to see you, he’s been expecting you.” Wallace thanks her, and the receptionist tells him unprompted, “my sister dated an American man. He looked just like you. 4th floor, first room on the left.” Confused, Wallace thanks her again.

Wallace meets Mauricio Lopez (Gael Garcia Bernal), who welcomes him to Mexico City. Mauricio is thrilled to be working with Wallace, an Oscar-nominated sound designer, and the two make small talk in Mauricio’s office. Then, Mauricio begins talking about his film: the name is Despues Medianoche (After Midnight), and its halfway through filming. Mauricio, however, wants to fast-track post-production so he can start selling the film to potential American buyers, as his production company needs money quick. Wallace would start working tomorrow, and while the hours would be long, he would play an integral role in the production. Wallace expresses his concern that staying for a few months in Mexico City would keep him separated from his wife, he acquiesces when Mauricio promises a big salary. Wallace says that it’s a deal, and Mauricio invites him to set.

We cut to a scene of a woman (Salma Hayek) talking to her daughter (Alondra Hidalgo), tears streaming down her face begging her daughter to believe her. The daughter asks her mother to just tell her what she saw. The woman responds, “I believe I saw the devil in your father”. The daughter steps back, shocked. Mauricio yells “Parar!”. Both actresses step back, with the younger woman Adriana taking a drink of water and the older woman Veronica wipes her eyes. Wallace watches far away from the cameras as Mauricio steps up to give direction in Spanish.

Mauricio: Veronica, I need you need to be grounded, here. No one’s going to believe the scene if you can’t even make it through the dialogue.
Veronica: So you want me to be devastated but you don’t want to be crying.
Mauricio: Crying, not bawling. You’re bawling right now.
Veronica: OK, Mauricio, but you keep giving these new directions and I can’t follow everything you’re saying, I mean, one second -
Mauricio: I’m directing you. If I need to make the scene work, I’ll make it work.
Veronica: (starts getting ready) Well, it’d be easier to act if you didn’t keep changing the script.
Mauricio: Just remember what we promised. You understand?
Veronica: Got it.

Mauricio steps back, and calls out, “alright, let’s take it from the beginning!”

Later, Wallace and Mauricio sit in a screening room, as a rough cut of the film shows. We don’t see much of the film, but there’s rough soundbytes of screaming and yelling. Mauricio watches on, proud of his vision, but Wallace remains disturbed. Wallace badgers Mauricio with questions about the content of the film, but Mauricio only responds that he wants his film to be “brutal, truthful.”

What follows is a montage of a recording session. Wallace stabs into cabbages with a knife, occasionally ripping them open, steps on tape to create the sound of footsteps on the ground, and records actresses screaming inside a booth followed by actors making demonic noises. Along with all of this, Wallace has to repeatedly watch individual scenes from the film. Despues Medianoche is obviously more violent than the average horror film, living up to Mauricio's controversial filmography, as some scenes involve decapitation, stabbings, and dismembered body parts. On top of that, there's the consistent use of gore, and the foreboding sense of dread that permeates the entire film before the occasional jumpscare. At one point, Wallace has to take a break and relax, before resuming work again. It seems to be getting to him, until...

We cut to Wallace later with some of the producers inside the recording studio, all of whom are drinking. The producers ask him if he wants something to drink, but Wallace refuses, saying he's recovering from alcoholism. However, the producers are able to coax him into having a bottle of Tecate. The producers ask Wallace about what American women are like, and whether he thinks they're hotter than Mexican women. In the process, they make some disparaging remarks about the lead actress Veronica, with one mentioning that he doesn't know "what Mauricio sees in him". Wallace feels a little uncomfortable, but doesn't want to break the bright atmosphere. He continues to drink.

The next morning, Wallace calls his wife Erin (Alicia Silverstone) and tell her that he's begun work. Erin over the phone asks if he feels safe, and Wallace responds, "of course." While Erin wants to ask about the film Wallace is working on, the latter doesn't think she'd like what he's working on. Erin seems concerned that Wallace is going to be there for quite a while, and Wallace responds that he hopes he can get the job done soon so he can return to Los Angeles. Erin tells Wallace that she misses him, and Wallace says that he misses her too.

That day, Wallace is reviewing the film footage. A centipede crawls next to the mixing equipment. The scene is an integral one where Adriana's character is walking down a dark hallway, holding a handgun and looking for whatever supernatural entity has been haunting her. But before Adriana even encounters the monster, Wallace hears a faint yet powerful scream in the background. He pauses the footage, scrolls back and plays it again. He hears the exact same scream, only a little louder. Wallace pauses it again, zooms in, and sees a shadowy figure at the end of the hallway turning the corner. Wallace leans back, a bit disturbed.

Later, Wallace asks Mauricio if there was another actress on set during the hallway scene. Mauricio says no. Wallace then plays back the footage to Mauricio, and we again hear the scream. Mauricio says he doesn't know who that is, but that might've been something they missed in the take. Wallace doesn't understand; why exactly would there be another actress on set, and what's the explanation for the shadowy figure. Mauricio says he doesn't have all the answers, but they'll find another take. In the meantime, Mauricio tells Wallace to "keep doing his job. You're doing it well." Wallace looks even more confused.

Wallace begins to investigate the hallway, and brings a camera to shoot pictures and piece together the mystery while the cast and crew aren't shooting. However, while doing so, he's confronted by the director of photography (Bruno Bichir). The DP, whose English is very poor, asks what he's doing. Wallace says he's from the sound department, and the DP further badgers him and asks why he is here. The DP then accuses him of being paparazzi trying to leak things from the production. Wallace grows frustrated and says that's absolutely not the case, he works here. The argument escalates until the DP throws a punch at Wallace, causing a brief altercation until Mauricio and another crew member enter and break up the fight.

Cut to Wallace taking a smoke break outside the studio in the evening. Desperate to get away from work and left with a red cheek, he looks dejected. He checks his cell phone to see if there's any missed calls or text messages from Erin. Nothing new. He hears somebody asks, "do you have a moment?" Wallace looks up and sees a priest (Demian Bichir).

Priest: Father Hidalgo, nice to meet you.

Wallace: I'm not a Christian. I don't want to waste your time.

Hidalgo: It doesn't matter. Wallace, I need to speak with you.

Wallace: I'm sorry, do I know you?

Hidalgo: I know Mr. Lopez. You're the sound editor, right?

Wallace: ...yes.

Hidalgo: Well then, we don't have much time to talk.

Wallace: (gets up) I'm not interested.

Hidalgo: Wallace, I need to tell you something, it's extremely important!

Wallace: Well, whatever it is, it's not worth my time!

Hidalgo: Wallace, I know what you're looking for.

*pause*

Wallace: No you don't. You don't know anything about me. Now, I should be getting back to work, because I'm here to finish this movie and get out of here. Not to listen to your sermon.

Hidalgo: *pause* Then so be it. God bless you.

Wallace: *relaxes* God bless you too, Father.

Wallace walks back inside, and closes the door behind him.

Wallace walks through the halls up to Mauricio's office, and opens the door without knocking. He sees Mauricio and Veronica having sex on the former's desk, and Mauricio exclaims "Carajo!" as Wallace hurriedly shuts the door. Wallace

starts panting, and mutters "Shit!" as he walks away. A janitor looks at him as he ends the elevator, confused.

That night, Wallace is alone in the recording studio with most of the lights off, mixing audio. There's a sketch of the hallway set from the pictures Wallace took earlier, with dimensions and scales and everything. He's looking over the hallway scene again, trying to play with the frequencies so he can hear and analyze the scream more clearly. And while it's not his expertise, he wants to see if he can make out another figure. Wallace is clearly diving deep into his investigation. He brightens the frame, and catches a glimpse of a shoe. He looks intently at the frame, astonished by the discovery when suddenly, he hears a knock on the door. Wallace shouts "come in", and he turns around and begins to say "I'm almost done with the -" when he sees Veronica.

Wallace: I'm sorry about earlier.

Veronica: No, no, don't worry. Everybody here treats me like a slut anyways. I don't really care what you think.

Wallace: I-I don't think that way.

Veronica: *pause* Right.

Veronica looks over at Wallace's soundboard.

Veronica: So this is what you do?

Wallace: Yeah, I just, put the whole sound for the film together. You see, most of the sound you hear in the actual film is created in a studio like this -

Veronica: Wallace, I'm an actress. I know how they make movies.

Wallace: Well, you'd know then that, well, usually there'd be more people working in a sound department for a film. But, Mauricio only hired me.

Veronica: Hm.

Wallace: You want to hear the scene I'm editing?

Veronica: Sure.

Wallace scrolls over to the project file and opens up the sequence being edited, and begins to play it. We faintly hear the sound of running in the woods, followed by several screams and roars. Veronica giggles, and Wallace chuckles in response. Then, Veronica turns to him.

Veronica: What do you think about Mauricio?

Wallace: *pause* He's a good boss.

Veronica: You think so?

Wallace: Well, I've only known him for so long.

Veronica: *pause* Once you get to know him, you'll learn not to trust him. Men like him, they have a lot of secrets.

Wallace: *pause* What secrets?

Veronica: I couldn't say. But I think he's hiding something from us. All of us.

The room is deathly quiet. Then, Veronica gets up, and begins to exit the room.

Veronica: We'll talk again soon.

Then, she closes the door behind her.

The next day, Wallace is busy recording, stabbing a cabbage with a chef's knife, when Mauricio busts into the room. Wallace apologizes for barging into Mauricio's office, but Mauricio says he doesn't want to hear it. He sternly urges Wallace not to tell anyone about him and Veronica, saying he has a reputation within the industry to maintain. Then he reprimands Wallace for not doing his job well enough. Wallace asks where he got the impression that he wasn't doing his job, when in actuality he's been "busting his ass" trying to help finish the film. The two get into an argument about deadlines and dailies before Wallace asks Mauricio again about the scream in the hallway. Mauricio asks why he gives a shit so much, and Wallace yells, "because I think somebody was murdered on your set!" Mauricio is taken aback by the accusation, and his voice grows less angry, but is just as stern. He tells Wallace that he needs time to cool off, and that when he's ready to be rational, he can come back to the production and start work again. But in the meantime, he wants him out of here. He'll get someone else to take over for Wallace. As Wallace begins to pack up his things and leave, Mauricio hollers back that all he wants to do is make a great film, and that he never thought that it'd come down to "this". Wallace shuts the down behind him.

Wallace flies back to Los Angeles, and takes a taxi home. When he arrives, he's greeted by Erin, who welcomes him home. Wallace begins setting his things down, and Erin asks about the flight home and other small things about the trip. Wallace responds to all of them naturally, saying "fine" and "good".

Later during dinner, Erin asks Wallace why he's back in Los Angeles so early. Wallace lies about why he was sent home, saying that the film is finished and they want to send it off to potential distributors before they bring him back. Erin takes this answer as fact. Then, she expresses her disappointment that Wallace hasn't contacted her yet or taken any of her calls. Wallace says that he's always busy with work and that he can't always talk to her. Erin then states that she worries about him when he's gone for so long. Wallace says that he worries about her too. Erin then exclaims "then you wouldn't leave me in the dark for so long! I don't know what's happening to you in Mexico, but you said you would be gone for months. I can't talk to you for months at a time?" Erin continues: "So yes, I worry about you. Especially when you're in another country and I can't reach you." Wallace then fires back, saying she doesn't know the stress he deals with at work. Erin responds, "right, I don't. Maybe you can express your feelings by talking about them with your wife." She gets up and brings her dish over to the sink while Wallace solemnly eats.

Later, Wallace begins to take a shower. He looks down at the drain, dejected. Suddenly, he hears something behind him. He turns around and opens the curtains, and the shadow from the film appears in front of him. He screams, and Erin rushes to the bathroom. She asks if he's OK, and Wallace remains in shock. He asks his wife if there's someone else in the house. She denies it. In bed later, Wallace stares at the ceiling, wide awake and in terror.

The next morning, Wallace grabs a bowl of cereal, with his bag packed up. Erin comes downstairs and discovers him rushing to get out the door. She asks where he's going, and Wallace says that he needs to go back to Mexico. Erin tries to convince him to stay, but Wallace becomes more anxious to get out the door. Wallace starts to hurry out the door, and Erin calls out for him to tell her why he's leaving. She follows him out to the car and tries to convince him to get back into the house. Wallace doesn't stop, and grows more apprehensive at her attempts to get him to stay. Finally, Wallace forces her out of his way as he gets into the car. Erin calls out his name as Wallace starts to drive away, trying to fight tears.

Wallace is back in Mexico City, feeling more anxious. He's walking past a soundstage on the way to the offices, when we see a woman fall to her death from the top of the soundstage onto a car, creating an awful crunching sound. Wallace quickly turns over, and sees the aftermath. Later, police cars have surrounded the scene, and Veronica is seen crying next to Mauricio, who stares back at Wallace. We see that the body is Adriana, with a tape recorder next to her.

That day, Wallace is sitting in the studio again, when Veronica opens the door once more.

Wallace: It was awful what happened today.

Veronica: Awful doesn't even begin to describe it.

Wallace: I'm so sorry.

Veronica begins to tear up again, barely making it through tears saying that she was like a sister to her. Wallace tries to comfort her, and Veronica begins to calm down a little. The two share a passionate hug, and Veronica begins to kiss Wallace. They fall back on a desk as they begin to make out. After this, Veronica pauses and lifts herself from Wallace. She then asks Wallace why he thinks he's here. Wallace says because Mauricio thought he was qualified. Veronica asks again, "no, why are you really here?". Wallace repeats himself. Veronica then flatly says, "you really think that's the case". She then exits the room similarly to how she did before. This whole scene feels like deja vu to Wallace.

Veronica: I believe this is the last time we meet.

Wallace: I think so too.

Veronica closes the door behind her.

The next day, Wallace begins walking to the office when he is confronted again by Father Hidalgo. He asks again if Wallace can have a moment of his time. Hidalgo says he saw Wallace at the crime scene. He thought Wallace had already left for America. Wallace asks Hidalgo if he now knows what he's looking for. Hidalgo says, "yes".

In the church, Hidalgo sits Wallace down in a pew. The hall is empty, and only their voices echo. Hidalgo then begins to talk. It can be summarized like this:

Hidalgo: This isn't the first time After Midnight has been produced. Mr. Lopez tried to finish the film before. But the same events transpired that have transpired now. A scream, hidden in the film. A girl that took her own life. A shadow of a man, committing these attacks. The lead actress took the audio of the scream to her demise, and her body was found in northern Mexico, scarred and bruised. And now we are here again. Wallace, the film is cursed. And it is your duty to bring Mr. Lopez to justice, protect Veronica, and destroy the film before it can be unleashed upon the world.

Wallace backs away, confident in his new mission. The next morning, we see Wallace loading a gun and putting a pack of matches in his pocket. One to kill Mauricio, one to burn the footage with him.

Wallace speeds forward into the office, enters the sound room, grabs the dailies, and pulls out one of his matches when Mauricio enters the room. Mauricio says he's glad to see him back, when Wallace aims the gun at him. Mauricio pleads for an answer why, and Wallace says he knows what he needs to do. He shoots Mauricio, who falls to the ground with a thump, and lights a match to burn the footage in front. He stares intently, knowing what is about to happen. He drops the match, and as it lands on the dailies, Wallace spontaneously combusts along with Mauricio's dead body as more individuals begin to enter the room, astonished by what is going on. Wallace closes his eyes.

-----------------------------------

We cut to a dimly lit apartment in Los Angeles, Wallace is laying in bed, dejected and hungover. He notices a text message on his phone. It's from Erin: "i'll ask again. is it true?" Wallace begins to cry, and slowly gets out of bed. We then notice an email from his lawyer: we learn that Wallace has been accused of sexual assault against an actress named Veronica Salazar, and Wallace is currently embroiled in a court battle over the allegations. The guilt has obviously gotten to him as he puts on a shirt. He calls back Erin, and pleads for forgiveness. Erin doesn't want to hear it, still utterly shocked that Wallace would do such a thing.

As Wallace begins to leave his room, he opens the door to find himself in the hallway from the movie. He begins to walk down it, and grows more suspicious of his surroundings. He pulls out a gun as fear creeps over his face, slowly walking down the hallway. There's a soft rumbling in the background, when he sees a shadowy figure. Wallace begins to chase after it, and confronts it once again. The face illuminates in the darkness, and its revealed to be Mauricio. As a grin forms over Mauricio's face, Wallace tries to shoot but the bullets do nothing. Mauricio only becomes more and more manic. Wallace begins to scream in anger, and after he fires the last bullet, Mauricio transforms into a doppelgänger of Wallace, who slowly slinks away into the darkness. Blood begins to trickle down the hallway, and whispering voices begin to torture Wallace. He makes a run for it, but the halls appears to repeat themselves. Finally, he encounters one unopened door. He slowly reaches for the handle to open it.

Inside appears Veronica in a black void. Wallace tries to beg for forgiveness, but Veronica doesn't want any of it. Veronica delivers an impassioned monologue condemning Wallace for his actions, saying that he scarred her for life, and that she had to keep quiet for so long because nobody would believe her. Wallace is at a loss for words. He knows what he's done. Veronica leaves him alone in the room to cry. Suddenly, Father Hidalgo appears and tells Wallace that he's stopped Mauricio. Wallace throws a cup at him, telling him he's not real. Hidalgo doesn't go away, repeating that Wallace has been saved. Wallace collapses, exhausted, and Hidalgo leans over to him. "I know why you're here, Wallace. You know, too." Hidalgo disappears. Suddenly, we hear Veronica's scream, and Wallace covers his ears as he cries out for help.

The film itself begins to disintegrate. While it does so, we see flashbacks to Wallace's fantasy in Mexico, but with Veronica having become more prominent in each shot. Then, we cut to Veronica, screaming inside a recording booth as she disappears into a black void.

A tape recorder stops in a dimly lit room.

Spoiler

A monitor turns on, and we see a vaguely bat-like alien look at the screen. He is in a white room. He suddenly begins to cast shades of light with his hands, demonstrating an infinite power. The camera zooms out, and more and more monitors pop up. We see various screens showing him using his powers. They pop up alongside existing screens. He seems to have become something of a superhero based on what we see on the screens. The camera zooms out, and the monitors are all shown on a large, IMAX-esque wall. We move then around the room of the screen, decorated in a somewhat 80s inspired design. It is a large, cobalt-colored screening room with no seating, no furniture at all; just walls and the screen. The camera then ends at a lone individual watching the images on the screen.

She has light and color pulsating through her body, glassy wings folded onto her back, and horns at the top of her forehead. She stands about 7 feet tall. Looking at the screen, she looks at the man and says with an expression of confidence: “You have proven your worth.” Continuing the shot, we follow her out of the room and to a hustle and bustle of a grand hallway with advanced computer technology in the area as several individuals like her begin to walk around. It seems to be a large control base on a massive spaceship, albeit with a more Blade Runner-esque style, and she encounters another person like her, but considerably older, looking into space at the edge of the room. He begins to have a conversation with her:

Nimkarius: Xevarre, my daughter. You are about to coordinate your very first purification. We have been on this tour for hundreds of years, and I have full confidence that you will continue our glory.

Xevarre: I suppose I am a tad nervous, but there’s a first time for everything. I’ve been waiting for this my whole life.

Nimkarius: Purifications can be considerably easier than reversions, but that will come at a later point.

Xevarre: I know from years of watching. But I know this is what we need to do. And I promise I won’t let you down.

Nimkarius: Then you are ready. The command is all yours.

Nimkarius gives her a crown like headpiece, and with some hesitation, she puts it on. She then proceeds to take a deep breath, as Nimkarius reminds her to remember everything he had taught her. Xevarre remarks, “here we go.”

We then see the monumental spaceship that the elusive aliens are on, bigger than anything we’ve seen in the Spark universe before. The camera keeps zooming out to show the size of it but moves back toward the bottom of the ship. Out of a pocket of the spaceship, several drones appear. They begin to travel to a small, somewhat gold-colored planet below. The camera follows them as they capture heat from entering the atmosphere and begin to disperse. Some even go out way beyond, as if to different planets. The drones begin to shrink into smaller and smaller drones as they descend into the desert-like planet below. They spread across cities, towns, and begin to cover the entire planet. These credits appear as the drones descend:

The drones’ locations then pop up on a map back in the spaceship (The editing is designed to be continuous, giving the illusion of one shot continued) An officer on the ship remarks that everything is in place, but the “potentials” are beginning to take notice. Xevarre commands the final phase of the initiation. The “one shot” sequence ends here.

We see life on the planet living as it typically does, a desert-based planet where aliens of various species are interacting in various settings. It seems like just another day. However, the drones have begun to land, and people are starting to take notice. A few try to attack the drones but shooting at them or throwing rocks, but they seem impenetrable. Suddenly, a large flashing light encapsules the center of the drone, hypnotizing the people and freezes them in place. Their eyes begin to turn into a pure blue. Finally, even smaller drones, all the size of a bottle cap, fly out to each and every sentient individual on the planet. They all land on the individual’s neck (still frozen in place) and after a moment, we hear the sound of a needle piercing their skin. No one feels any pain, or anything at all for the matter. Everyone is frozen across the planet, although we see small drops of blood come out from under the bottle cap drone on a few people. After a few ominous moments, they fly away, back into the drones. They reverse and return to the ship.

Back on the planet, a message is relayed with Xevarre’s voice. Everyone begins to repeat what she says in an exact, harmonious voice. Every sentence cuts to a different group of people on a different planet. “I am now under the protection of the Soltaran people. I am about to become stronger than I ever have before. I will reach my destiny. I will reach my fullest potential. I will not let anything hold me back. I will become perfect.” They raise their hands in the air, each creating an infinite beam of light with their hands. Xevarre finishes the chant as she keeps her headpiece on. She looks out at the planets below, smiling, also looking to her father for approval. He nods.

Suddenly, someone gets her attention, remarking that some ships are fleeing the planet. Xevarre refuses to worry, telling him that they simply need to send an offense drone at the ships. We then see a pursuit as the drone follows and attempts to attack the fleeing ships. It seems to be a small group of about five ships. The drone begins to fire at the ships, but there seems to be some retaliation in the form of infinite power. An intense pursuit begins, while a portal is forming directly in front of the ships. The drone manages to begin targeting one ship in particular at each time, eventually knocking four of them out.

Xevarre looks on to make sure she can get them all, knowing that she can’t let this happen on her first time. However, a portal of rainbow light appears, instantaneously letting the ship through. The drone almost makes it through, but is split is half as the portal closes, exploding. Xevarre begins to stress out, punching a wall with a glowing fist. Nimkarius tells her to relax, knowing that one ship isn’t going to change anything when all is said and done. “Let me coordinate the rest of the galaxy, you have done a good job for now, Xevarre.” She looks on and thanks him. She also asks, “We can fix this wall too, right?”

Meanwhile, we cut to the ship that got away. It is rather small and dinghy, but it made it out in one piece. We see two familiar faces inside as well as one passenger. A young alien, seemingly of the same species as the man in the first moment of the film, begins to cry. His name is shown as Mevino.

Mevino: They didn’t make it. I…I could have stopped them! I had the power to, I was just so scared. I’m sorry. I could have saved my dad, my family, my -

Male Voice: Mevino, please stop. You have nothing to be ashamed about. Because of your actions, we made it out safely. You tried your best to save them.

*We turn around and see two individuals with grey-ish skin but seem to be aliens from our own galaxy. Qatav (the voice) and Neshianu. *

Qatav: They’ve done this to many worlds before. Hell, you were one of the lucky ones.

Neshianu: Yeah, tell the kid that they’re committing genocide. That will relax him.

Mevino: What?

Neshianu: Look, I’ll be honest with you. I don’t know everything about the people who are doing this. But I promise you this. We are going to do everything we can to stop them. And we need your help.

Qatav: What do you say, kid?

Mevino looks to them and smiles. “I’ll try my best.”

SPARK: BEYOND THE SKY

A red light covers the title, as we then proceed to show a large flow of lava bubbling inside a volcano. Zooming out, we see a town at the bottom of the coast as the location appears as text on the screen.

OLYSARA

MILKY WAY GALAXY

We hear a knock on a door as large, orange aliens are seen answering in their homes at a village outside the volcano. Several of the aliens are fleeing into the ships after being guided by a familiar face, Katherine Spark. She is making sure that all aliens are evacuated safely. As someone remarks that she refuses to leave her home behind, Katherine assures her that this is just a safety effort, as the knows people trying to offset the damage from the get-go. “Believe me when I say, these guys are good.”

Closer the volcano on a rocky plain of rugged land, a human in her early 20s, Alex Spark, begins to warm up her powers. Her wolf like boyfriend, Kozar Alcana, and their short, wheel shaped ally, Aera, stand to the side and they monitor the expected eruption. They are acting as if it’s just another day.

Alex: Piece of cake. I’ll create a barrier to keep the lava from the village you work to get to cooling fluid on that stuff immediately.

Kozar: I have no idea if this is going to work.

Alex: We can improvise either way. Aera, all you need to do is make sure we have enough.

Aera: There are literally 27 gallons right there. I dragged it all the way up here. You’re welcome by the way.

Alex: Like I need to worry about you for anything. That’s why I like you.

Aera: Careful, Wolfie will get jealous. Three years wasted. Boo hoo.

Kozar: We’ve been through this. Comparing me to wolves confuses the hell out of me and gives me…. somewhat uncomfortable feelings.

We hear another voice call out from a small ship nearby the trio. She is loading the fluids into her ship. “Banter’s fun and all, but this thing should explode in a few moments, look alive peeps.” We see that it is Perthena, who is now a full-time friend to Alex and her allies after her concerning tenure with Gavin Venchell. Alex is ready, as Kozar and Aera get into another ship by Perthena’s ship. They take off, carrying the fluid below the plane.

Katherine informs Alex via radio signal that the village is nearly evacuated, but they still need to protect their home as much as possible. No pressure or anything. But still…. don’t phone this in. Alex tells her mother that she has nothing to worry about, and that she could do this without thinking twice. Hanging up, Alex is ready, standing tall as the lava begins to erupt. “Wait a minute…. HOLY CRAP LAVA DOESN’T FLOW THAT FAST ON EARTH!”

Alex hastily puts up a barrier with her powers as Lava crashes into it. She tries to keep building it upward as the lava begins to climb. Meanwhile, Kozar and Perthena begin to apply the cooling fluid as they soar above the flowing lava and try to get to the top. The lava is starting to cool rapidly with the dispersion of the fluid, but they need to get to the top to calm the flow completely. Alex is feeling constrained and nervous, hoping that an update is coming sooner rather than later.

Perthena: I have an update.

Alex: Okay, thank you so –

Perthena: A bad one.

Alex: God damnit!

They’re starting to run out of cooling liquid, so hopefully Alex can try to contain everything left. The flow is slowing down, thankfully, but they’re still a bit crunched. Alex gets the idea to contain the lava by digging into the ground a bit, but it’s hard to keep the barrier up, especially as she had to build the barrier taller and taller. The villagers look in confusion at the gigantic wall of lava. Kozar remarks that he at least still that super fizzy soda he’s going to treat himself to after this, but Alex apologizes to him in advance. Seeing that he left the soda on the ground by where the ship took off, she lifts it towards her and downs it all.

Kozar: Wow. You’re rude.

Alex: I’ll buy you two once we get save the ton. And You’ll see what I mean. I can’t believe I’m even doing this.

Aera looks on in excitement, seeing if she’ll do what she thinks she’ll do. Alex waits a few moments, clears her throat, and…. she lets out a bellowing burp that encapsules her energy, pushing the lava back as Perthena and Kozar’s ships manage to freeze it all. Katherine, catching what happens over her headset, remarks to herself: “Oh my god, I completely failed as a mother.” It does work, and the lava is contained. Alex compresses the lava further and further until it turns into a small rock. Aera remarks, “Yep, that’s what I was hoping for.”

As the villagers cheer for the day being saved, the five return to the village. Their mayor thanks them for their kind and effortless work to save their home, remarking that so many would just let their village perish after evacuating. Katherine remarks that it’s all in a day’s work. Their own survival and wellbeing all they need. The crew begins to fly away as the villagers wave goodbye.

EARTH

MILKY WAY GALAXY

That night, we cut to a party at the residence of Katherine and Ezen Baklattan, a lizard-like alien who served as president of the Summit of Unity before forming his own interstellar rescue and social justice organization, known as Homeward. He apologizes to the team for not being able to assist in the rescue, due to time spent with work on the Celestial Haven, but he is nonetheless so proud of his work. Katherine and Ezen kiss, as Alex pulls two bottles out of her backpack. Ezen then motions to Kozar that he’s opening the rooftop observatory for him and you-know-who exclusively, in case he’s finally ready to do you-know-what. Kozar nods but seems hilariously nervous.

Meanwhile, Perthena thanks Ezen and Katherine for giving her this opportunity. It certainly beats going to jail. Katherine remarks that she’s more than made up for her past actions, and she’s a part of the family at this point. Perthena feels hesitant, but ultimately gives a reassuring nod.

Perthena: So no hard things about the whole…my best friend trying to kill you business?

Katherine: Not that I can think of.

Perthena: Great, thank you yay! *She says it all in a nervous manner, as if she still feels guilty about it.*

She turns to see Kozar take Alex up to an elevator, smiling as she wishes him luck, teeth still clenched. Perthena then remarks to Ezen that he won’t believe how Alex saved the day. Katherine tells Perthena that she needs to try this Earth drink called a martini.

We cut to see a large, panoramic shot of Chicago, Illinois, as they arrive on the balcony of the Hancock tower. The wind is prevented by a barrier, while light pollution from the city is also diluted so that they can get a perfect view of the sky.

Alex: Heh, this barrier is pretty nifty. Thanks for getting us access up here, it’s such a beautiful, romantic place.

Alex’s hints are barely subtle, but she can tell that Kozar is nervous. She plays coy to help calm his nerves, as if it isn’t completely obvious what he’s going to ask her.

Kozar: …. how does it go for humans again? *He gets down on two knees* No, that’s praying. *He lifts one leg up* Okay yeah, that makes more sense.

Alex: What are you doing? *laughs*

Kozar: Alexandra Marianne Spark…. it’s been an incredible journey to be by your side as you’ve saved billions, maybe trillions of people, time and time again. Moreover, I just…. you know what? I’m just gonna ask you. Will you join my contract? Wait no, it’s….be mine alone?

Alex: Getting warmer, big guy.

As Kozar continues to stumble out of nerves, he eventually gets it right and asks Alex Spark to marry her. Alex smiles, and after pausing for a moment, gives out a resounding yes. She puts on a ring from Kozar and the two smile at each other and kiss. Kozar feels way more confident now, turning into a fearless romantic that he was trying to be. He remarks that this is going to be the wedding of the millennium. Alex remarks that they probably have a lot of people who’d love to hear the news. Kozar bluntly, albeit innocently, remarks that they all knew. “Not that he desperately asked them for help or anything.” They eventually return home as both parties get tired and return to sleep. Both couldn’t be happier with their current lives. Kozar reminds Alex not to jinx it.

They fall asleep, and as the night passes, a loud alarm comes off at roughly 5am. Alex is called by Ezen Baklattan. “You need to the Vrancien Galactic Prison immediately. Naryani has disappeared.”

VRANCIEN

MILKY WAY GALAXY

We then cut to a prison base as several ships surround it. They are mix of news reporters, police officers, and SoU officials. Ezen, Katherine, Kozar, Perthena, Alex, and Aera walk into the prison entrance, as Alex begins to talk to Ezen. All parties seem confused and slightly terrified, while Aera mutters to herself that they jinxed it last night. She doesn’t understand how she could have gotten out of one of the most guarded prisons in the galaxy, especially after what she had done with The Infinite Project. “Probably guarded the hell out of her.” Ezen remarks that if she’s on the loose, she needs to be found immediately. She could very well pose a threat to everyone on the galaxy. “To think she was once a trusted colleague….good lord.” Moreover, there might be a clue Alex can help with. It’s the main reason they’re being allowed in despite not being as high in the government structure as they once were. The five are given access to the security terminal.

A warden remarks that Naryani has been acting very strange for the past few weeks or so. She would keep muttering about how the galaxy would be cleansed and asking if she was successful and if her people would be spared. That’s when she wasn’t being violent and using her powers uncontrollably. Anyone in that room may very well become vaporized in a matter of seconds. Even more strangely, information on Naryani’s personal identity, including her home, any relatives, birth records, and so on – are mysteriously being altered.

Alex begins to review the footage and begins to decipher it. She recalls the vision that she had before seeing what she thought was her father but doesn’t know how relevant it is. She just knows that weird visions seem to be a fact for the infinite experience. It seems that whoever broke her out used infinite energy. But the way the culprits use their energy seems exactly familiar to what Alex typically does. Alex turns to Ezen and Katherine, completely confused by the manner.

Alex: If you know anyone else who could have been associated with the infinite experiment, speak now.

Perthena: Venchell didn’t know anyone else from the experiment. As far as I know, it was you, him, and then everyone else who vanished.

Alex: Does that sound right? If so, it gives us a easy answer.

Ezen: Yes. But…. we can’t just say that they reappeared after all this time and just came and took her. That doesn’t make sense.

Aera: Either way, they may be a lead. Or they just have a damn good reason for bolstering a galaxy wide panic.

Alex: The only issue is that we have no idea where they could have gone.

Alex suddenly has a flashback to one of the final scenes in Spark: Rising: “The world is not ready for us yet, but we will be back, and we will stand with the galaxy. For now, please take this.” Qatav and Neshianu hand her a small amulet, which make Alex smile. Alex wonders if the amulet could be the key to bringing them back.

The gang heads to Alex’s apartment, where she begins to scavenge for a box to find the amulet. They try to use powers on the amulet to see if it can turn on a beacon to summon Qatav and Neshianu, but as she fiddles with it, we suddenly see a portal open behind her, and Qatav and Neshianu come out seemingly out of nowhere. Everyone is shocked, particularly Alex.

Alex: Oh my god, it worked. I found out how to summon you?

Qatav: That was just a keepsake. We came on our own volition. The amulet did tell us where you would be, though, at least when you messed with it.

Alex: ….Oh. So you were kinda spying on me. No big deal. But…problem solved I guess. So anyways…..Hi. It’s been a while. Lots to unpack today. *She seems confused, angry, surprised, bewildered, all at once.*

Qatav: I know why you want to talk to me. I’ll just make this story short. Yes, we know where Agorava Naryani is, slash maybe broke her out of the prison, and no, she will not pose a threat to anyone. But –

Kozar: Okay. Why did you take her?

Neshianu: We can explain everything. You just need to come with us. We only have the energy to keep this portal open for so long but meet us at these coordinates at 10pm tonight.

Alex recognizes it as a beach north of Chicago on Lake Michigan. Neshianu promises that things aren’t completely what they seem, but they need to unite as soon as possible since it can’t be explained in a fairly brief manner. She smiles and waves goodbye to Alex. The portal closes. Aera asks, “So…. we tell the press that she went into a magical portal to god knows where?”

That night, the crew drives up to the portal coordinates. Katherine tells her that wherever this thing takes them, that she will be looking out of them as much as possible. She gives Ezen a hug and wants to speak to Alex in particular. “I don’t know if you will return. I will be 100% honest. I don’t know what’s going on. But I just want you to know clearly and plainly. I love you from the bottom of my heart. I know whatever is happening, you can get to the bottom of this and protect us all.” Alex asks Katherine not to worry about her, and the has everything she needs to stay safe. They hug. During the action, a glowing light appears, and the portal opens.

Alex: We're all going in, right?

Aera: ....Is it too late to back out? Someone may need to watch your stuff in this world. *Perthena nudges her.* Or Katherine will take care of all that.

Katherine: Nah, you’re on your own.

Alex: Then it's settled.

Qatav and Neshianu step out, seeing that Alex, Kozar, Perthena, Ezen, and Aera will be coming. The two ensure that Ezen will be able to contact Katherine and share information with her. The five look at each other, and they go through the portal. Katherine looks at it and sheds a tear, as Qatav thanks her for staying behind to make sure the galaxy is safe. They bid her farewell, and the portal closes in a blinding, colorful light.

As they step through, a light slow begins to take place and a shroud of light surrounds that characters. Qatav tells them not to panic, and that they should just enjoy the visions as they stand. “Think of it as a nice airport tunnel.” Eventually, the characters wake up surrounded by water but standing on a walkway connecting various starships on a vast, beautiful ocean on the coast of a tropical beach. As they marvel at the beauty of the place. “Welcome to the Sancterra,” Qatav says.

SANCTERRA

MILKY WAY GALAXY

Boardwalks connect the ships to the beaches, a bit like cruise ships, as majestic beasts swim in the waters below. The infinites have resided here for four years, hoping to eventually build up their own paradise before reconnecting with the rest of their galaxy again. It turns out that they currently reside on the outer rim of the galaxy, a place where the infinites had hidden while working for Naryani. Several infinites wave at Alex and her allies as they arrive on the planet. They had turned this place of fear and cruelty into that of unity and hope. Alex asks Qatav about everything that is going on, including why they took Naryani.

Qatav admits that he has a lot of explaining to do, starting with the fact that at all of this is far bigger than their own galaxy. Moreover, he has living proof, and someone Alex should meet with.

We cut to a quarter in one of the ships, where Mevino is playing with a puzzle in his room. Neshianu tells him that someone would like to meet him. He eventually leaves toward to boardwalk, holding Neshianu’s hand, and he sees Alex Spark. Ezen quietly remarks to the others that he does not seem to be an alien of any species in the galaxy at all. Mevino remarks that he could say the same thing about them, citing his sharp ears with powerful hearing. Alex asks him what he’s doing so far away from home, also impressed that the infinites had managed travel to different galaxies. Mevino remarks that the extra energy is easy when all of them have the infinite power.

Alex remarks that it actually makes a lot of sense but stops herself when she catches that Mevino has infinite powers as well, realizing the implications of the fact. Alex is shocked, but also amazed. The two begin to use powers together, as Mevino himself is also shocked. “I didn’t know there were people like me far beyond the stars!” Qatav remarks that he will explain everything in due time, including where Naryani is being kept. “Her demeanor hasn’t changed, so I don’t want anyone trying to talk to her until we can find something to use. We have the powers to keep her at bay, *pointing to Ezen* you don’t. No offense.”

Meanwhile, we cut back to the Soltaran starship, whose name is The Ultima. Xevarre, weaving the headpiece from earlier, looks out of the window with a stare as we cut to explosions coming into the city square of the planet below; she hears screams and terror coming from the lands below. Walking through footage on the computer screens, we see glimpses of the world below in flames and chaos. She is trying not to show any emotion and relax herself, but a general for the Soltarans, Dheamus, comes to speak to her. She is slightly startled.

Dheamus: Good job on your first reversion. You’re a talented individual, and you’re making this universe all the brighter.

Xevarre: And….*relaxing herself.* we are purging the world of darkness. Look at the people below. They were cruel, vicious, selfish monsters. We must give new life a chance, life that has the change to grow and be stronger, better than ever.

Dheamus: Just as your father said, and his father before him. Our wisdom and our guidance are our tradition; they are that which has given our people the strength is has. Never forget that, and you will take our people far.

Xevarre: I never shall. But I must confess…. sometimes I feel a sense of remorse when we are left with no choice but to perform a reversion.

Dheamus: You feel pity for these monsters? They will kill each other in due time with nothing checked. And in their domination, who knows what else they might have taken from any other species. What we do is harsh, but it is ultimately necessary for the universe as a whole.

Xevarre: Perhaps that is what I need to remind myself of when I must do the unthinkable.

Dheamus: Remember, I have guided your father, and I will guide you. You will be a wonderful queen, and you will be prepared for whatever comes to us.

Xevarre: Thank you, my general.

She returns to look at the atrium from before, seeing the planets lie in dust and ashes. After a glimpse, she looks out at the screen and says, “This is for the best.” She closes the door and refuses to look back.

Returning to Sancterra, Qatav uses the water along with his powers to explain what is going on, creating shapes as he explains: “It turns out that our galaxy is one of thousands with sentient life in this corner of the universe. We got a little bored sitting here, so we wanted to explore a bit.” Mevino interjects, and remarks that there seems to be someone with “powers of the omega.” Alex deduces that this word is his translation for the infinite powers. Ezen is confused, as Naryani couldn’t have given the powers beyond the galaxy. Mevino says that he was born with his powers, after his father was magically blessed with them. He was a glorious superhero.

The important detail was that every galaxy had its own infinites, and those galaxies were being targeted by a horrifying power, the Soltarans. They rescued Mevino from a galaxy in the nick of time. Qatav somehow kept seeing visions of galaxies in danger, drones being sent to alter if not kill the people, and he’s worried that our galaxy may be next. Alex promises that she will try to help out any way that she can, but she doesn’t even begin to understand what is going on, or how Qatav is seeing these visions. The visions seem to be part of the infinite suite, but for now, there’s no way to understand how it even happens.

Moreover, they need to address Agorava. Neshianu remarks that after watching the footage, she noticed that Naryani repeatedly had dreams of a place called Aradun, which seems to be a planet in another galaxy. No one knows how it could possibly be connected to Naryani, but it may be the key to calming her. Kozar, Aera, and Neshianu are ordered to go to the planet, while Ezen and Alex want to stay behind. Alex needs to be trained on her powers even further. Neshianu remarks that she can make a portal to get there, unless they’d want to spend a crap-ton of time traveling the galaxy. Their choice. Kozar remarks that she does make a good point.

CELESTIAL HAVEN

MILKY WAY GALAXY

Meanwhile, news commotion breaks out at Celestial Haven over the disappearance of Agorava Naryani, as the human president of the Summit of Unity, Beatrice Powell, tries to calm a rowdy congress. She is trying to investigate the matter herself, but she knows that Qatav and Neshianu have relocated them to a secret place, and considering the bizarre circumstances, and her own trust in Alex Spark, she is asserting that the situation is taken care of. A sneering voice from the senate, Vycas Tarek, remarks that entrusting her, an entity outside of their organization, with solving the escape of a dangerous criminal, is an idiotic idea. The two converse in the busy halls outside the congress.

Powell: This goes beyond everything we have conventionally dealt with. This could transcend galactic borders even. Playing by the rulebook isn’t going to work.

Tarek: So we send our men beyond the sky. No big deal. You just trust your own fairy dust instincts and put our lives at risk.

Powell: You actually think we can do that? Besides, I can’t believe the person who nearly blew up Chicago is talking to ME about accountability. I am trying my best here.

Tarek: You are keeping secrets from people that could get them killed. And you think I’m a monster.

Powell: It’s not that simple. I barely know what’s going on, and I’m not keeping anything I don’t know from you. Until I get concrete information, there is nothing we can do. Nothing we should even attempt to do. We could be poking a sleeping bear here.

Tarek: Bear?

Powell: Never mind. Earth animal. I’m just as scared as you are. I don’t know what the hell I’m supposed to do. But don’t make this any harder than it already is.

Tarek remarks that he’ll do his own digging, whether he likes it or not. Tarek is pushed away by interviewers as Powell returns to her office. She gets a message from Katherine, saying that the two need to meet up as soon as possible. They have this text exchange:

Beatrice: Thank you for the information – let’s meet for dinner soon.

Katherine: You’re doing a lot – really appreciate the support.

Beatrice: Doesn’t help that Tarek is such a piece of *poop emoji*

ARADUN

KAVVAS GALAXY

We soon arrive on a planet covered in dust, ash, destroyed buildings, almost no bodies in sight. It looks like the apocalypse had come through. Perthena, Neshianu, Kozar, and Alex all arrive out of the portal on a long, dusty plain. Dust lightly blows in the air. Taking in all of the surroundings, Kozar begins to breathe heavily, as Aera asks what’s wrong. Kozar remarks that he thought he had gotten over everything that happened to his world….it feels like he’s reliving the nightmare all over again. Perthena puts her hand on his shoulder, while Aera finds the ruins of a city nearby. She remarks that it’s completely hard to tell what this place used to be like, but there’s got to be something that they can find. She asks further if this is even the right place.

Neshianu, looking at the planet, verifies that the location is correct. It doesn’t make any sense what she would want to do here, or how she would even know about this place. Perthena suggests that she was speaking gibberish, and this is all a coincidence. They walk around the city, looking for an artifact to potentially bring back, one that hasn’t been completely destroyed. It seems next to impossible, and nothing more than a wild goose chase. Perthena enters what looks like a large palace. The scene plays like exploring a haunted mansion, with the four trying to look for clues anywhere.

Soon, Perthena. sees something jaw dropping. Calling the others, she flashes a light on what looks like a large portrait of Agorava Naryani. Underneath the picture is the text, “Queen of the Ibeshian Worlds.” A music recording faintly plays in the background, and Neshianu attempts to record it.

Aera: Well it does look a lot like her, but she doesn’t have the most “out there” face, you know.

Kozar pushes more dust by the “Queen…” text and underneath sees Agorava Naryani’s name. Kozar gasps, remarking that, “You’ve got to be kidding me.”

Meanwhile, we move back to Sancterra, as Alex, Mevino, and Qatav stand on a platform together. “Ezen is contacting Katherine to update her on what we know, but you could use some more training on your powers.” We see that Alex will be able to use her powers in more interesting ways than ever before. In a montage, set to exciting music and color visions, Mevino and Alex begin to use their powers in new ways, including:

·        Creating portals to places they have been before (It takes a lot of energy, especially to travel a wider distance and make a bigger portal hole, so they just make portals in the air)

·        Creating a cloak of energy around you to temporarily give the appearance of being invisible.

·        Using the energy to keep running or working without ever getting tired.

·        Levitating yourself just by using the powers on your shoes.

Alex smiles at Mevino’s delight in learning more about his powers. “If being an infinite is about manipulating the energy around you, then your only limit is your imagination!” Qatav also remarks that the two have truly impressive abilities. “The sky is the limit to what we may well be capable of, and perhaps if we can find out more, you can maybe, god willing….” As Qatav is speaking, she begins to feel something. Her eyes begin to glow. “They’re in trouble.” Mevino is confused, but he soon realizes what is happening. “Oh my god….she’s creating a vision.”

Retuning to Aradun, as the four are taking in the huge reveal, Neshianu suddenly hears a voice sounding just like Alex’s, warning that a drone is said to be nearby. Hearing something sounding just like a drone, the four hide behind a derelict wall, trying to sneak to return to the spaceship. Neshianu hears the voice tell her to get to the ship. The drone finds them. As Alex begins to panic, with Qatav not understanding what is happening, she tries to direct picture Neshianu in her mind and tell her how to get the three to safety. Alex begins to push her energy more and more towards Neshianu as she builds the strength to pass through the bullets, blocking them with her powers, and get everyone to safety.

As they get to clear ground, protected by Neshianu, Alex has them escape into a dust storm moving toward the city, hiding under large debris. Aera thinks that Neshianu is trying to get them all killed with that idea, but Alex is guiding her and telling her what to do, not even controlling her. Perthena trusts her, realizing what it will do to the drone. She attacks the drone with small explosives as the crew maneuvers through the storm easily, with Neshianu parsing through and creating a barrier for the four, but the drone gets destroyed in it, thanks partially to Perthena’s help. Eventually, the quartet takes the portal back to Sancterra, but before stepping in, Aera remarks: “Okay, Neshianu, can you tell Alex that we totally could have saved ourselves without her help?”

A monitor pops up on the shut-down drone inside the Ultima, and Xevarre watches the signal from a computer. She asks what they are doing on Naryani’s home world but realizes what she’s trying to do. She recognizes all the characters from observations on the Milky Way galaxy but begins to suspect that Alex Spark knows a lot more than most people in her position would, let alone Qatav and Neshianu.

Nimkarius: She wasn’t even chosen, and that girl pretty much acts like she has.

Xevarre: I’ll say this. She’s good. Maybe one of the best I’ve ever seen.

Nimkarius: And her galaxy was a very special testing ground. The chosen doesn’t even matter anymore.

Xevarre: We’ll make an exception and focus on her, then. I’ll most likely be facing their world soon.

Nimkarius: But they may retaliate. Especially if someone in her ranks knows about other galaxies and knows about us. You need to find someone within who can help our cause.

Xevarre: And I need to learn even more about Alex Spark. She is like no one I’ve encountered before. Judgement is soon for this world, so we need to begin preparing. This world may be a bit of a challenge.

Alex sees the ship arrive back at Sancterra, and she eagerly rushes to see everyone. Relieved that they are okay, Neshianu realizes that Alex, for the first time, had created a vision for someone else. Because of the way that Alex trusted and cared for them, she could connect in a way she never knew possible.

Kozar: So basically, we were saved by the power of love? *Winks at Alex.*

Neshianu: I totally could have gotten them to safety, but otherwise…yeah.

Alex: If I can figure out how to do it again, I feel like I’ll have way too much power at my disposal. I really need to be stopped, don’t I? *chuckles*

Qatav humorously remarks that it made training a bit harder, so they may need to postpone it. Mevino can’t believe that Alex pulled it off, but she still can’t wait to fully see what he is capable of. Qatav remarks that because of his youth, he may need to stay behind a bit, much to Mevino’s dismay. Alex warns him that these people could be dangerous, and they are only trying to keep him safe. She wants him to be able to see his family again. Mevino pauses, beginning to cry, as Alex catches her mistake. He moves back to his room, and Alex tries to apologize to him. Qatav comes to her, remarking that they may be the closest thing he has to family at this point, and they need to keep him safe.

Tarek returns to his apartment, grumbling about how much he hates all the infinite nonsense. It is a fairly quaint place, but still rather high-end in style. A drone like what we’ve seen in the opening appears in the home as Tarek pours himself a drink, humming to himself. A voice from Xevarre appears, and it gets his attention. Justifiably startled, Tarek tries to attack the drone, but it humorously does nothing.

Tarek: Okay, what the hell do you want from me? I’ve got a family to feed!

Xevarre: No you don’t. I have learned a lot about you, but I don’t want to hurt you. In fact, I can help you.

Tarek: What are you talking about?

Xevarre: What if someone else, someone you could side with, oversaw this wretched world?

As Xevarre, speaking from her ship, tries to feed Tarek on his cynical vision and his hatred of Beatrice, he promises that he can make his dreams come true if he helps her. Tarek indicates slight interest but has many reservations. Xevarre remarks that that’s all she needs. Tarek is hypnotized and pierced in the next moment by a smaller drone, just as the citizens from the first scene were. Meanwhile, we see Xevarre in a small red room with a large monitor on its wall. Nimkarius remarks that she said everything exactly correctly, as Xevarre smiles. After a moment, Tarek stands there, frozen. Xevarre tells him that he will now follow the Solataran’s lead. Note that he does not recite the same chant as in the opening scene. “We will need your help to change this galaxy for the better.  Snap your fingers to get a taste of what you’re capable of.” He snaps his fingers, making a blast of infinite energy.

That night at the beach on Sancterra, the characters feel like they can breathe for a moment as they look up at the stars. The fire is created by Mevino and Alex. Perthena wanted to ask this to Kozar on the ship, but she confesses that her home world was also destroyed in the infinite blitz years ago. Venchell…had actually saved her life. She begins to cry, but Kozar comforts her. Kozar says that it has been hard trying to get over his world, and just seeing it happen all over again, it doesn’t work. Perthena remarks that he wouldn’t want them to give up. If anything, they know what it’s like, and they know that whatever’s out there, they need to do everything they can to stop it. Kozar tells her that it can be really hard to lose the ones you love. To feel like you need to hold on to them as much as possible. He knows that from experience. Love, in and of itself, is an act of courage, an act of hope. “God, I am getting really schmaltzy here. The message is….it can be hard to let yourself love, especially at the risk of potentially losing it. But it is truly worth it.” As he says this, he takes a deep breath, as if giving himself his own cathartic moment.

While Aera and Mevino curled up, sound asleep, Alex finally finds Ezen. He’s been trying to tell Katherine everything, but he doesn’t know what anyone on Earth can do. Ezen promises that he stands with Alex through everything, and he loves her and Katherine. Alex promises that he doesn’t have to be the hero this time. There’s got to be someone out there who can help them. It doesn’t matter if it’s one person, or billions. There must be hope. Qatav hears this as well, claiming that he is trying to pick up a signal for anyone else against the Soltarans somewhere in the universe, any way he can. Alex says that it may be a complete crapshoot for now, but thanks Qatav for trying everything in his power. Alex then remarks that she will talk to Naryani tomorrow, utilizing the evidence that Kozar had given her.

The same night, back at the Celestial Haven, we cut to a private dining room where Katherine is explaining everything she knows to Beatrice. Beatrice appreciates the help, especially with her trying to keep people at bay while still making sure she’s giving reliable, honest information. The only thing that would make them happy is to see Naryani back in prison, but she may be volatile to a point where even Prison may not be safe for them. She trusts the team.

Looking into the dining room, Beatrice faintly sees what appears to be Tarek, but he cuts way. She remarks that he had been acting in a very strange, disturbing manner as of late, and she doesn’t trust him. Katherine agrees fully with the sentiment but asks her to keep him at bay as much as possible, also telling Beatrice to call him if anything comes up. As she leaves for the night, Tarek sees her again, a glaring glow in his eyes. Tarek hears an order from Naryani in his ear. He seems to have not been changed in his demeanor any other discernible way.

You still have Summit soldiers at your disposal, do you not? Your next task will take great advantage of it. You would be surprised how quickly and with how little planning an empire can change dramatically. Let me work on finding Naryani, and you can go throw a little uprising tomorrow. You're doing excellent.

The next morning, we see Alex take several deep breaths. She’s wearing a protection suit that should help mitigate any damage. Everyone is at a hallway in one of the ships by a door to a large room. She wants asks again why she needs to be the one to speak to her. Neshianu thinks that Naryani may actually hate them even more than Alex, considering how they basically backstabbed her at the opportune moment. Should she even break the news about the picture they found and the music recording? Qatav remarks that bringing up anything from Aradun should be a last resort.

Qatav: Also, it’s probably best for Kozar, Aera, and Ezen to stay away without powers to defend themselves. Mevino should probably come with them as well.

Mevino: But I can fight her! I’m not just a child.

Neshianu: This isn’t your fight, and you need to stay safe. We need to learn more about what we’re up against, and if she really is from another galaxy, she may know way more than we think.

Alex: I’m ready…scared, but ready.

Qatav: That’s all you can be.

Alex, after everyone disperses, enters the room. It is a large, open space, ominously so. Naryani sits at a table in the center of the room, her eyes fixated on Alex, but otherwise very calm. With every footstep Alex talks toward the table, we transition to moments back on the Celestial Haven as each step gets louder and louder, the editing going back and forth from Alex’s tension to these moments:

  • Tarek puts on a jacket and puts a pistol inside.
  • Several Summit of Unity soldiers
  • Tarek arrives at the steps of the Summit of Unity.
  • Squad card appear at all entrances of the building.

As Tarek is about to step inside, we cut back to Alex on the table with Naryani, her arms and legs stuck to the chair. Naryani seems disturbingly calm, unlike anything Qatav and Neshianu had seen her as before. Naryani speaks in a calmer, but stern and unflappable tone.

Naryani: Alexandra… It’s been a while.

Alex: *surprised, a bit confused. * This isn’t how I thought you would act.

Naryani: I knew you would be coming. I’ve been thinking a lot more about our galaxy. A lot’s been going on there, it seems.

Qatav and Neshianu are shocked by her suddenly calm demeanor but wonders if the visions had gone away. Alex calmly states that she doesn't want to hurt Naryani but needs to know what is going on to be able to put together the pieces of what is happening. Still suspicious of Naryani’s demeanor, she begins to ask her if she knows of any life outside the this galaxy, and how she developed the idea for the infinites. Naryani denies any knowledge of life outside the galaxy while also claiming that the idea was fully her own. Alex keeps asking questions, realizing that she can’t get anything out of her.

Naryani acts almost exactly as she did while she was forming the Infinite project, seemingly a completely different person then when her panic and terror set in. She doesn’t even have any memories of her visions or anything she may have started a riot over.

“Wait a minute, A completely different person.” Alex says to herself. She looks at the recording device in her pocket. She nods to Qatav and Neshianu, and she asks her what this music means to her. She begins to play music. The recording plays, and Naryani’s eyes widen. The camera swipes away from her, the music altering in a dramatic, lightly distorted sweep (think the THX logo) and moves toward Tarek on the steps of the Summit of Unity with a swift edit.

The song plays a lot like a country’s anthem, as a full transition of the music from cheap recording to full blown orchestra begins. Moreover, the action in the next sequence is synced perfectly to the song, cutting back and forth between the interrogation and the hostile takeover.

As the music plays, Tarek uses his newfound infinite powers, as well as the command of SoU soldiers, to begin attacking people at the Summit of Unity headquarters in a wanton manner. In slow motion, he walks toward Beatrice’s office as he violently hurls everyone and everything in his way to the side, as his men lock the building and kill more people within the building.

We then see Naryani’s face staring blankly at the camera. Tears begin to stream down her face as memories seem to rush back to her all at once. “I….I was the Queen of the Ibeshian Worlds. They gave me these powers so I could help my kingdom. I didn’t know…they were testing me. Testing me for 25 years.”

Beatrice is speaking to Katherine on the phone when the chaos begins to take hold. Beatrice hears the chaos begin to take place, trying to hang up but drops the phone on the side. Katherine desperately calls out for Beatrice. Katherine rapidly drives toward the Celestial Haven, trying to help Beatrice any way she can. Beatrice takes a pistol out of an emergency locker in her office, and she tries to understand what is happening. Her office is locked down, and she cannot get out.

“I tried to do everything right. Everything good for my people. But then they gave me a choice. They sent me here, they changed my name, they changed me. Who was I....what did I do? Who the hell are you?!” Naryani becomes closer to breaking down sobbing.

Hearing something coming toward her, she points her gun to the door, preparing for the worst. A violent banging is heard on the door, as Tarek eventually destroys it. He is standing alone, his guards on all other levels. Katherine tries to go inside, but is blocked by an alien police officer, who had heard gunshots from inside the building. “Holy shit…. no.” Katherine says as she hears the carnage from inside.

Beatrice: What…. what are you doing?

Tarek: I’m taking what is rightfully mine.

As Tarek approaches her, Beatrice fires at him in slow motion.

Naryani turns to Alex, faintly asking her, “You must know what happened to my world. You were there. You saw it. Tell me what happened.” Alex hesitates, but Naryani breaks her restraints and is desperate to know what happened. Alex feels scared, guilty, and upset all at once. Qatav and Neshianu come in and try to stop her but Alex looks her in the eye.

Just as the bullet is about to hit, we see him slow it down with his powers and turn it towards Beatrice.

Tarek: You should know this has nothing to do with the election at all. No hard feelings, I assure you.

After a pause, and the anthem reaching its final coda, just before Tarek is about to kill Beatrice, Alex says, “I….”

“Can’t!” Beatrice’s body lies on the floor as a small pool of blood forms underneath her. Alex is then breathing heavily, tears starting to run down her face. “I’m sorry. I can’t tell you what happened. I don’t know how.” Naryani backs away, begging to know the truth. Alex, not sure how she can possibly break the news to her in her volatile condition, but Naryani begs to know the truth. The table begins to shake violently, and Alex has no choice but to run away for her own safety.

As she runs for the door and slams it behind her, Alex feeling sorry for her for the first time that she can recall. Even more so when Naryani bangs on the wall, begging to know the truth. Alex begins to shiver. Qatav and Neshianu also look at her, commenting that she did everything she could – more than that, in fact. Qatav further apologizes for putting this burden on her. We see Neshianu lay in fetal position on the ground, putting herself to sleep, still crying to herself. (It is shot from directly above her)

Meanwhile, Xevarre notices a large signal of infinite energy around where Naryani currently is. She tracks the information down with help from Dheamus and Nikmarius. She realizes that she finally had a lead on her after they had been on an unoccupied land.

Xevarre: The energy readings has been here for some time now. She has to be here.

Dheamus: Alex, too. I suppose you’d like both delivered?

Nimkarius: Indeed, and this isn’t a trick for drones only. I believe that, Xevarre, you’d love to see these two in the flesh?

Xevarre: …. Yes, of course. Alex, especially.

Dheamus: Say no more, we’ll be there soon.

On another room in the ship on Sancterra, where the team is looking up information on the Ibeshian worlds, the galaxy that was once home to Naryani, everyone looks on in awe at what the world used to look like. It was a serene, beautiful world, a bit like a contemporary Rome or Babylon. Perthena both comes to terms with realizing that Naryani was only a pawn in a much bigger game, while Ezen remarks that he had only known Naryani for a few years, and she was able to pass as a species in their own galaxy.

“They made sure to give her the perfect cover, maybe even used the drones to give messages to the her “race” that she was one of their own, and we all completely fell for it,” Ezen remarks. Alex then thinks that the visions must have only come through the side that was her original self, not her “Milky Way self.” As they continue to talk, Qatav tells them that either way, they must be close to striking their home world soon, and that he may have found a message from somewhere far beyond the galaxy, which could be a base for a potential resistance.

Kozar: I just…. I can’t comprehend this. She committed atrocities in our galaxy. To all of you. Ezen, she tried to kill you. And now I have to forgive her for everything?

Alex: It isn’t that simple. It wasn’t “her” who did all of this.

Kozar: I KNOW. It’s just that…I need to let this sink in. She put me through years of hell that I have been trying to erase. I’ve even started to let my parents go. And to just try to keep her safe…. damnit.

Alex: Kozar…. I love you. And I know what you went through, but the only thing we can do now is prevent this from happening to anyone else. No. As few people as possible. We must throw away everything conventional we know about this.

Taking a deep breath, Kozar, still feeling a bit sullen, tries to get back to the matter at hand. He asks about details regarding the potential resistance, and a small discussion breaks out at the table. It begins to drown out. Soon, however, Ezen receives a call from Katherine, marked as urgent. Ezen picks it up, but his jaw drops, also lowering his phone.

“Oh my god……Beatrice is dead. Tarek raided the Summit of Unity.”

All Kozar can let out is a flat “What?” before an infinite comes in, warning that unidentified ships are beginning to land. The others come outside, as a ship in the style of the Soltarans begins to land toward the ground of the beach, lit up by the sunset. The sky is purple and gold. Qatav and Neshianu call out for the rest of the infinites to get ready. As the ship begins to land, they all move around the ship to surround it, while Alex, Qatav, and Neshianu move toward the entrance, standing in shallow water. Alex orders Kozar, Aera, Perthena, and Ezen to stay away.

Kozar: There’s a jungle by the beach. We can hide somewhere deep in there.

Alex: Take Mevino with you.

Mevino: No, I’m not…I can do it! *He seems really nervous. *

Alex: It’s okay. You’ve never been in a fight like this before, I need you to stay safe. At best, watch how a professional does it. (She winks at him, lightly chuckling.)

The four non-infinites and Mevino move toward a jungle after Perthena thinks they can hide but still know what is going on. It certainly helps that Mevino can hear pretty much everything. Perthena promises that they will keep him safe. Aera, offering surprising sincerity, promises that no harm will come to him. At least, they’ll try their damndest.

The hatch is about to open, and everyone gets their powers ready. Alex looks on to inside the ship, ready to fire a blast. She looks to Neshianu and Qatav, as they tell her that she’s got this. Alex looks closer and is shocked to find that the ship seems to be empty. Everyone looks on and silence and confusion as Alex begin to move toward it, her arms still glowing.

Dheamus suddenly appears from behind her and forces her into the water. The other infinites, without hesitation, begin to charge and attack Dheamus with energy blasts. However, they seem to be rather ineffective against him, even when he doesn’t block them with a barrier. Moreover, four other soldiers, all in helmets and armor, appear to ambush the infinites. They each create a massive blast of energy that blows the infinites away, some smacking into the side of the ship.

Qatav: 5 to hundreds. This should be easy.

Neshianu: We all need to gain up and target our energy on one at a time.

Qatav: Follow my lead.

Underwater, Alex struggles for air any way she can, including trying to create a tunnel of air for her to use. However, Dheamus keeps blocking it and using it as an opening to attack her. Alex, lifting a rock from under the sand and hurling it towards Dheamus’s head, is eventually able to get free. Noticing the clear size difference between the 5’5” Alex and the 7’5” Dheamus, she tries everything in her power to use it to her advantage. She manages several dodges, even “Waterbending” to get him off his feet and distract him.

Meanwhile, the other infinites are trying to knock out each of the Soltarans, but it’s not going very well at all. The Soltarans are able to easily disband them one by one. Qatav tries to step in, and he actually manages to do quite a good job of disabling them. He uses his powers in ways to create massive lights to distract them, then using his own strength to try to deliver a blow. It only works for so long, until they all gain up on him, dragging him to the boardwalk and beating him up violently. Neshianu, trying to create barriers to protect the other infinites, looks on in horror. Qatav tells her to get everyone to the coordinates and take everyone to safety, all in his struggling breaths.

One of the Soltarans grabs a large stone from below as Qatav lays motionless on the ground, closing his eyes as if to accept his fate. He hurls it towards his head, and we cut away to Neshianu screaming.

Alex looks on with shock and horror at Qatav’s cold, lifeless body, as do the others hiding in the forest. Mevino begins to feel kind of restless, remarking that based on what he’s hearing, they need his help badly. Kozar grabs his arm, telling him that they know what they did to Qatav, who was seasoned with infinite power. It’s too risky. Mevino begins to feel angry, feeling that he’s ready to take them on. However, Alex, back on the beach, forces everyone to stop with a loud blast of energy toward the sky. Alex begins to speak: “Please. Please stop this. I know it’s me you want. Just take me. I will go with you. Just…. please let them live. And please let my galaxy live. I don’t know what you’re doing, or why, but…I can’t let anyone else die tonight. Please. I’m begging you.”

Dheamus looks to the soldiers, who remark that she is half right. They will let everyone else go, but they also want the other one: Naryani. Bursting into her cell without any abandon, they easily restrain her and zap her to an unconscious state. Naryani falls to the ground. Alex boards the ship with the soldiers, also carrying Naryani in a stasis pod as Kozar runs toward her. Kozar stands on the beach, looking toward her with a look of despair. Seeing Mevino, she knows that she can whisper.

Kozar: Why…. why did you do this?

Alex: *whispers* It was the only way to save you. We need to leave this galaxy. They’re coming.

Kozar: Alex…. I……Mevino, what did she say?

The ship’s door closes, and Alex takes off. Kozar runs into the water, calling out for Alex in desperate anguish. As it takes off, he begins to breathe heavily. Neshianu remarks that Alex is correct. They need to return to Celestial Haven immediately to start an evacuation plan. Kozar volunteers to save Alex, but Aera and Mevino want to come as well. “Let’s be real, you need someone with these powers on your team.” Neshianu and Ezen are very hesitant about the plan, but they agree that Alex needs to be rescued. Perthena remarks that she’ll just go along for whatever, so…. probably going with Ezen.

Ezen: You seem excited.

Perthena: Actually, I kinda am. Glad to be part of the action now. At least not the violent revenge action.

Neshianu makes a plan, saying that they’ve got a large array of ships, but they need to find out if they can actually get to the coordinates Qatav had found for them. “Anywhere is safer than here, but we can’t be alone. In this fight. If we are, then we cannot win.”

Back at Celestial Haven, the atmosphere foggier and murkier than before as the night falls, we see Tarek at the desk of the Summit of Unity office, still in tatters from the events earlier in the day. He practices using his powers in his office as people across the city are eager to flee, fearing what may come next after the events of today. Moreover, a barrier is surrounding the SoU headquarters, making it impossible for anyone to get in. He looks on and smiles, saying that today will be the day when he gets to lead this galaxy into a new direction.

At a hidden location in the city, Katherine waits for Ezen to appear, knowing that she would find a location for them soon. A small portal opens on the roof she is on, as Ezen, Neshianu, and Perthena step off. Katherine rushes to hug Ezen, still reeling over everything that happened, while Perthena looks at them and lightly smiles. Ezen promises that he will tell her everything, but they need to rest up tonight. “Tomorrow will be one hell of a day.”

We see a close-up on Alex’s eyes opening. She looks around and seems to be in a large tank full of a green-ish fluid, with the consistency of water. Her mouth and nose is connected to a mask she can speak through. Finding herself in the screen room on the Soltaran ship, she looks around.

AT THIS MOMENT, THE FILM SHIFTS TO A FULL CINERAMA VIEW, THE PANORAMIC IMAGE GRADUALLY EXPANDING TO FILL MORE OF THE SCREEN AND, ON CINERAMA SCREENS, ARCING AROUND THE SIDES TO SEEMINGLY SURROUND THE AUDIENCE IN THE FRONT ROWS.

Alex sees Naryani in the same pod next to her, albeit still unconscious, but she tries to get her attention, but nothing seems to work. She catches a door opening, white space seemingly coming out. Xevarre slowly walks into the room (edited to build slight suspense as they meet.) Alex seems more confrontational then Xevarre, who seems to act calmer, but seems to be hiding some feelings. Nimkarius stands behind her, as the scene slightly mimics Alex speaking to Naryani from earlier (who is still asleep).

Xevarre: So…you’re Alex Spark. I’ve heard a lot about you.

Alex: As have I. I’m gonna take a wild guess and say that you’re behind a lot of this terror.

Xevarre: Terror? *chuckles* We are trying to create a beautiful new universe. One where everyone can be as powerful as us. Provided, of course, that they are worthy of such power.

Alex: The hell are you talking about? Killing innocent lives? What kind of power is that?

Xevarre admits that since the process is about to happen to Earth, she at least deserves to know what is going on. In fact, she could maybe even see things from their perspective. Xevarre uses the screens to demonstrate her plans. She sounds more relaxed and confident in this sequence.

“As you’ve probably figured out, you are not alone in this universe. I mean, you found out that Earth wasn’t alone less than 5 years ago, so it’s probably just another surprise to you. But anyways, we all had infinite power and built a close community to ensure that we would use our powers for the good of all. Exploring our universe, we found terror, hatred, selfishness, evil, cruelty. However, many of us, myself included, believed in second chances. Years before I was born, we began our test of the galaxy.”

“In every galaxy, an individual was chosen at random to receive infinite powers. We would observe that individual for 25 years, or until they passed away. We would not intervene, just simply watch. And looking closely at how the world developed, we would make a decision. If they were worthy, we would give all of them the powers of the Soltaran and guided them all to a new, utopian society. If not….*begins to shake* we would perform a reversion.” (We see flashbacks to the galaxy from when Dheamus first spoke to Xevarre, as Drones turned into bombs that swept away all life on the planet. An explosion sweeps a crowd away, as they fade back into the scene on the Ultima) However…. this is what could happen to your galaxy if everything goes well.”

From the galaxy in the opening scene, we see them rebuilding their planet in a design similar to what we have seen from the Soltarans, but they seem emotionless, vacant, all with cold, grey eyes. Alex looks on in horror, while Xevarre only sees the beauty in a galaxy finally united with itself.

Alex: So those are your options? Genocide or slavery?

Xevarre: Even the individuals who pass the test are prone to evil. You’re too naïve to see that I’m doing this for their own good.

Alex: Wait. What about our galaxy? What decision have you come to?

Xevarre: You see…. your home is complicated. I brought Xevarre here because she was a lot like you. *Alex shivers* But the people around her may have been less virtuous.

Alex: So that’s it? You’re judge, jury, and executioner on your own terms?

Xevarre: *beginning to snap* We know what we are doing.

Kozar, Aera, and Mevino get on a ship at Sancterra. Kozar is hurrying, speaking to Neshianu to get coordinates that the Ultima was last seen at. Neshianu warns them about going through with this, as going through their ship without any powers could be a suicide mission. Aera then remarks that they can actually use that to their advantage. They would be expecting someone with infinite powers (who wasn’t a child) to try and save her. It’s still risky as hell, but they’re prepared. Well, as prepared as they could possibly be. Mevino opens up a portal to help get closer to the Ultima and sneak aboard.

Meanwhile, Ezen, Perthena, Neshianu, and Katherine make a plan to infiltrate the Summit of Unity and access the galaxy-wide emergency broadcast system to send a message warning them to evacuate. From there, the remaining infinites can use their powers to boost as many people as possible out of the galaxy and to the coordinates that Qatav had found.

Ezen: Katherine, make as many waves online as you can before. I know a way in from when I was president. Probably illegal to retain that information, but all bets are off right now. Neshianu and Perthena, come with me for backup. Katherine, prepare to pick me up so we can get out ASAP.

Neshianu: I don’t know if the coordinates will even account to anything, but once the message is laid out, we can move.

Perthena: Ready when you all are. I still can’t believe I’m working with your side now.

Katherine: The galaxy certainly thanks you.

Perthena: Let’s move.

Cut back to Alex and Xevarre, as she explains that she has taken quite a liking to Alex Spark herself, despite not being the person chosen for her galaxy. Alex asks who was, but Xevarre remarks that it doesn’t even matter anymore. She is the biggest influence with the Soltaran powers on her galaxy, so they will make a special exception. Alex is offered the decision to assist them on their campaign in overtaking other galaxies, just as Naryani had, and her galaxy will be spared destruction.

Alex: I don’t understand, I thought you liked what I did?!

Xevarre: We don’t just judge one individual, of course. You’re only one part of the equation.

Alex: So I doom another galaxy and you enslave mine? You think I’m going to let that happen? What even happened to Naryani?

Xevarre: She was weak. Her old self kept calling for her soul, but I couldn’t let her look back. She was smarter, stronger, a better leader. She was perfected.

Alex: This is wrong - you’re turning people’s lives into your own toybox!

Xevarre: Shut up! You’re…you’re too weak minded to know what’s good for you! We’ve been doing this for far too long to not know what we’re doing. You can’t possibly begin to understand what we’re doing! Maybe I need to show you just what we can do for your galaxy. (She sounds pretty angry and falsely confident in this line, almost as if in denial.)

Alex: *seeing Xevarre’s doubt* Xevarre, I can’t let you do this. Please, don’t hurt these people. You will be ruining trillions of innocent lives.

Xevarre: I am not hurting them. I am saving them. I can’t let you side track what I’ve been working my whole life for.

Xevarre flips a switch and Alex’s body jolts. Xevarre, however, frowns at it. Moving from her vision, we see Xevarre and Naryani fade away into a mass of green liquid, as Alex soon sees herself with no restraints, just floating openly in the green. Eventually, the world flashes around her, as memories of her own life, from her human childhood to the events of the last film. Infinite energy flashes through each frozen frame of her life; objects fly out of place, people around her turn to a blue dust, and she feels herself falling further and further away to the person she once was. Alex desperately hangs on to her memories, using her powers to keep everything in place, but she is desperate to keep fighting to retain her own sanity

In one moment, Alex faintly sees something as she tries to fight the destruction. In her own vision where she finds herself on her childhood street, she sees a much younger Xevarre standing in the center of the street. Xevarre tells Alex that she wants to be her friend, and the two come close to one another. However, a drone appears behind Xevarre, and Alex pushes her away and beneath a car parked. The explosion sweeps through, and we see Xevarre open her eyes up. She seems shocked and startled. Moreover, she notices her violently jerking inside the tube, feeling slightly nervous, she calls towards an officer to order the Milky Way galaxy for purification, as well as to have Xevarre completely stripped of her old self. She looks to Naryani’s chamber as Alex begins to slow down and move less, beginning to fall back asleep.

(0:08 to 0:23)

Katherine pulls up in a shuttle ship towards the steps of the Summit of Unity. Neshianu, Ezen, and Perthena (the latter two armed with guns) step out and nod to Katherine, as Ezen tells her to rendezvous at the top of the tower.

(0:24 to 0:39)

Kozar begins to lift his ship out of the water as Mevino creates a portal towards the coordinates of the Ultima. Aera remarks that she’s ready for anything, and at the 0:38, he rockets towards the portal and into space.

(0:39 to 0:46)

Closes ups of all 7 characters in the previous sequence, ready to go to battle to save their galaxy.

(0:46 to 1:03)

Kozar, Aera, and Mevino make it to the Ultima, stealthily navigating around the gigantic ship, about hundreds of times its size, while Mevino applies an “invisibility” cloak to survey potential entrances, eventually finding an airlock to infiltrate. They manage to get in and close the door just in time to avoid getting noticed, running into a ventilation system.

(1:04 to 1:18)

Ezen, Neshianu, and Perthena storm the doors of the Summit of Unity, as social posts begin to circulate about the danger about to face the Galaxy. Several guards spot them, as Neshianu prepares to attack.

(1:19 to 1:35)

Neshianu and Perthena hold off the guards, while their attacks and gunfire are set to the music, as Ezen uses the distraction to make his way towards the emergency messaging center.

(1:36 to 2:13)

Kozar, Aera, and Mevino work their way through the surprisingly large ventilation system, at least large enough to let them go through. Eventually, Kozar sees the situation with Alex and Xevarre below, as he gets last minute nerves. Aera helps relax him, and Xevarre gives his powers ready. *The music stops.*

The ventilation shaft from the ceiling breaks, as Mevino blasts the pod with Alex Spark open, then Naryani’s. Xevarre slowly looks up, distracted by Alex, but she avoids Kozar and Aera, who land on the ground. However, they are all swept away as the glass breaks on Alex’s pod and she is swept out along with the liquid, flooding the room. However, both are still unconscious. As Xevarre looks to them, she glares, ready to attack.

Kozar, Mevino, and Aera back away towards Alex nervously, but as she is about to attack, Alex suddenly wakes up, turning to see Kozar and smiling wide. She holds her finger as if telling him to wait, getting up and beginning to run towards Xevarre.

Alex: I'm not down for the count yet.

*The music quickly fades back in.*

(2:13 to 2:45)

As Alex fights Xevarre, she holds up shockingly well, much to Kozar and Aera’s delights. Mevino, feeling more courageous and brave than ever, steps in and uses his flight to stay one step ahead of Xevarre, even as more guards come into the room. He tricks guards into beating each other up, also managing to swiftly avoid blasts of energy. Aera helps as well, rolling across the ground and knocking guards out like a pinball on the loose. Kozar also gets a few shots in. The four decide to run away quickly, realizing that they have no time to try and save Naryani. Kozar is especially assertive of this fact.

Alex: Remember when it was Naryani chasing me as I was holding an unconscious body?

Aera: This feels oddly karmic.

(2:36 to 2:57 – the last stop of the song before it transitions to the orchestra)

Ezen finds his way to the emergency broadcast room, closely followed by Perthena and Neshianu. Perthena remarks that Tarek needs to know they’re here soon, while Katherine is rotating around the building, ready for anything. Ezen can’t get into the room, but Perthena simply shoots the door open, “Duh.” She adds. “Now get the message ready before we find – “ The two are blasted out of the way, as Tarek, surprisingly not that different from his typical appearance, walks toward them in a cocky manner.

Tarek: Smart thinking. Get the news out before everyone becomes just like me.

Neshianu: Wait…what?

Tarek: You must not have heard. Alex betrayed you all – she’s become just like your favorite senator, Ms. Naryani – running away to start her own tyranny in another galaxy.

Perthena: That is bullshit. You’re the one who’s betraying us!

Tarek: I prefer to think of it as looking at the bigger picture. Which means we can’t focus on the little details. It’s time for you to learn.

Tarek charges at Ezen, but Neshianu engages in an all-out brawl with him, slamming him against the wall and punching him violently. At first, it seems like she’ll easily win, but Tarek starts slow and soon catches on quickly. Perthena opens fire at him, but he tries to reverse the bullets, something that Perthena quickly has to dodge. As the fight takes place, Ezen gets the security broadcast ready. The room is shrouded in red light, kind of like a dark, artistic recording studio.

All across the galaxy, from Earth to all other planets visited in the series so far, people begin to react to the news on social. Eventually, Ezen is able to turn on everything and send a message out: This is an absolutely urgent Galactic Emergency Message. Vycas Tarek has taken over the Summit of Unity. This is former president Ezen Baklattan. You must evacuate your planets immediately, take as many people as possible on your available ships. You will be coordinated on an evacuation processes as soon as possible. This is not a test. Enter Galactic space immediately.

As the message continues, we see the following in a montage as the message takes place:

  • Katherine continues to hover around, ready to get them to safety. She also fights off several SoU drones by ramming into them.
  • Kozar, Alex, Aera, and Mevino run for their lives back to his ship, but Alex hesitates, worrying about Naryani. Kozar nudges her to keep moving, but she runs back immediately.
  • Perthena and Neshianu get slowly subdued by a strengthening Tarek, who is eventually able to get to the broadcast room, carrying a gun.
  • People across the galaxy begin to panic and react in confusion. However, there are also reports that Soltaran drones are being seen across the galaxy, so the message starts to be taken seriously.

In the final chimes of the message, Alex runs towards the Soltarans, including Xevarre, who open fire on her. "Au revoir, you lava lamp bitch!" In slow motion, she opens up a portal to the screen room and rams herself into Naryani’s pod, shattering the glass and setting her free. As they are about to hit the ground, she creates another portal before they land, getting back with the others just before they arrive at the ship. She is clearly out of breath from the energy needed to make the portals, but Kozar remarks that it was considerably easy to rescue her at least.

The message is about to end, as Ezen turns around to see Tarek pointing a gun at him. Tarek remarks that it’s nothing personal, and he fires at him. Cut to Ezen falling back slightly, only to realize that it only felt like a flu shot. He doesn’t know what happened, but he only feels a light bruise from inside where the bullet went (his abdomen.) The message is complete, but Ezen, not before snickering at Tarek for his pathetic attempt at trying to stop him, runs toward the window of the building, where Katherine tells them to jump on. Perthena and Neshianu are trapped by Tarek, but they tell Ezen to get on – he needs to get to safety ASAP. Ezen reluctantly nods, shooting the glass window, running towards, and jumping onto the ship. Tarek darkly smiles at the two as the look at the ship get away.

Ezen and Katherine hug, finally getting on an audio conference with Alex Spark.

Alex: Oh my god, you did it! There are so many reports of evacuations taken place. The Soltarans should be getting here soon, so we need to move immediately.

Katherine: Give me your coordinates, we’ll meet you soon.

Alex: We’ll see each other soon. I love you!

*Ezen begins to breathe heavily, out of concern. A series of louder and faster beeps come from his neck.*

Ezen: Alex…. oh my GO – *Katherine slowly looks toward him, as his neck begins to burst (just enough to keep the PG-13 rating, it’s literally a split second)*

Communication lost. Alex and everyone on her ship look on in stunned silence.. Alex feels her world distorting. “No….no…god no. No!!!!” Alex, feeling a second of dread and despair, feels it even more so when the Ultima appears. Everyone is still reeling and in shock, but Alex’s despair quickly turns into rage.

Neshianu and Perthena are freed, devastated over the loss of Ezen and Katherine. Tarek taunts Perthena in particular after the shock sets in.

Tarek: You know…you should be happy. I got further than Venchell ever could.

Perthena: Don’t you DARE use his name like that. He would never stand for assholes like you.

Tarek: You’re one to talk. You’re gladly working for two of his worst enemies. Just because he chickened out of killing them last minute, -

Perthena: You’re a monster.

Tarek: You’re only saying that because you know I’m right.

Infuriated, Perthena charges at him with a fully loaded pistol, only to be grabbed in no time at all Tarek, left to dangle for a moment, and thrown out the window. Neshianu quickly runs out and *in one shot* soars down the building and grabs a terrified Perthena, safely making sure they hit the ground in one piece. The two smile at each other.

Perthena: I took care of the drone, so I guess we’re even?

Neshianu: Perhaps, but we should probably bail soon.

Perthena: We should be able to get Alex’s coordinates asap. There’s a ship nearby we can probably get into.

Ships begin to leave each planet in the galaxy as drones begin to move towards it. Infinite ships move around each galactic cluster to make sure ships can join a channel across the galaxy to escape, but they will need to move quickly to avoid not just the Soltaran ships, but the SoU drones. We then cut from the drones to the Ultima’s control room, where the Soltarans are preparing to take over our galaxy. Dheamus prepares to speak with Xevarre, with Nimkarius watching over her.

Dheamus: After all that happened, do you still wish for purification over a reversion? Their kind may have compromised our mission.

Xevarre: This is my decision. King Nimkarius left this to me.

Dheamus: Several colleagues have agreed with my decision to revert them. If they go through with this, everything we worked for is at risk.

Xevarre: This is a slip-up. I could have gotten them, and I promise this doesn’t change anything. I want to purify this galaxy. They would risk everything to save their own. They don’t deserve to die.

Dheamus: ….they tried to put fantasies in your head, didn’t they? Don’t fall for their tricks. Are you are not ready to make these decisions?

Xevarre: I am ready! Fine. We’ll compromise. Destroy the evacuating ships, purify anyone who stays behind.

Dheamus: Very well.

As several ships escape, Tarek also leaves on the SoU cruiser that the heroes were on in the first film, while the infinites begin to prepare their channel of transportation as ships move closer and closer together. Alex, tears still in her eyes, coordinates with the other ships across the galaxy to build a current to escape on using the help of the infinite energy. Desperate to wake up Naryani, Aera tries everything in her power, resulting in some humorous attempts to do so.

However, as ships begin to move slowly but surely, drones start attacking. The infinites try to defend them against the drones as much as possible, but they can only do so much, and there are a considerable number of civilian casualties. Everyone is desperate to rush out, while Neshianu catches up to Alex. The three of them lead the creation of a blue tunnel of light surrounding the ships, carried across by other infinites across, forming a giant chain akin to a slinky.

Drones keep attacking the ships, and with the infinites trying to create the portal, the time to move is now. Alex is desperate to find a way to wake up Naryani, but sees more and more drones coming. With no other easy option, they play the anthem of the Ibeshian worlds again. Unfortunately, it does nothing. Kozar, about to snap from stress and realizing she has no other choice, goes towards Naryani and tells her the truth about what happened to the Ibeshian Worlds. He begins to speak to her in an antagonistic way, but as he backs away, he becomes more taken aback a bit more empathetic, still upset with Naryani, but more along the lines of angry melancholy. It’s enough to wake her up. Everything goes silent as Alex, Aera, and Mevino give a shocked stare at Kozar.

“Oh god, what have I done?” Kozar says, backing away from Naryani.

Tears begin to slowly fall down her face without any aural reaction, while her hands begin to glow. Falling to the ground, her hands place a glow around the ship, soon moving to other ships as their passengers look on in confusion. The first ship is that of Perthena and Neshianu. The drones prepare to attack again, but as more light gets connected….Perthena begins to shake, tears pouring out even faster, letting out a big, “No!!” that shakes the entire universe.

  • For this next scene, imagine a mix of the following: *
  • The EAC scene from Finding Nemo.
  • The tunnel scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
  • The ending of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
  • Any scene in Mad Max: Fury Road.

…. a huge blast of light pushes through, and rainbow light passes through the screen. Every ship passes through the wild, technicolor light show as the ships draw closer and closer together. The drones have followed in as well, unfortunately. Every organism and ship turn to more abstract, minimal shapes with grey and black colors. Seeing the drones, Alex runs towards the back of the ship and puts on a suit, with Mevine following suit. Kozar (who is driving the ship) and Aera watch the scene in shock and confusion. Perthena and Neshianu remain stagnant as their eyes glow with the current colors of the tunnel, piloting their ship foreward. Mevino and Alex get into an airlock, looking at the space across.

Alex: Are you sure you want to do this?

Mevino: I trust you!

Alex smiles at him, and they open the door, jumping out to Perthena and Neshianu’s ship. The entire scene features minimal speed, distorted music, and blurring colors. Mevino and Alex, navigating by jumping ship to ship, fight the drones. With Alex’s rage, she is able to save as many ships as possibly, quickly destroying several drones almost in the style of an anime fight sequence. She runs and jumps across ships, refusing to show any hesitation as her powers blast through everything. Mevino takes out several but sees many more coming.

Mevino, yelling out, “I won’t let you hurt my friends!” lets out a blinding light that sets the background in crimson red, everything else in black or white. The drones explode one by one as Mevino looks on at the carnage, Alex looking on in shock. Seeing a light growing toward the front of their ship, the two eventually rapidly runs back to the front to try and get back on the ship. They grab on, falling towards the ship as the background spirals around them, and Alex’s arm grabs the edge successfully.

The scene turns to black.

Kozar wakes Alex up, as Aera and Mevino all look to her. Alex slowly wakes up, feeling like she had just gotten off a bad trip. Looking to the side, she sees several of the same ships made it safely to their side as well. However, it seems like they are completely far away from anything that resembled their galaxy. Kozar feels deeply guilty for what he did, but the others understand, knowing that they may have perished otherwise. Turning around, Naryani sits alone in the back of the ship, her veins completely blue and her shaking miserably. She feels weak, disturbed, hopeless. The four turns around to see her, as Kozar turns away to keep piloting the ship, but not without showing some signs of remorse. He remarks that “I….I’ll try to forgive you. I just…can’t right now.”

A montage plays to this song:

(0:24 to 1:08)

We see the ships regroup, collecting everything that happened. Alex collects hear breath, finally mourning properly over Beatrice, Ezen, and Katherine. Realizing that she has become the person that the people from her galaxy will look to, she feels heartbroken and stressed, knowing she cannot succeed the way they did. She misses them sorely and feels like she needed them. Kozar stands with her, promising that she is not alone. Kozar gestures to his engagement ring, and the two hold hands, embracing. Alex also replies, “I got you those two sodas by the way.” He tries to laugh, but it doesn’t feel right. The two kiss, trying to comfort each other. while Aera rolls up to Naryani, rubbing her legs a bit like a cat. Naryani looks down, unable to say anything.

(1:09 to 1:44)

Meanwhile, we see those who didn’t make it in the opening scene get manipulated by the drones. They are given infinite powers but end up completely submitting to them. “I am now under the protection of the Soltaran people. I am about to become stronger than I ever have before. I will reach my destiny. I will reach my fullest potential. I will not let anything hold me back. I will become perfect.” The mandate blurs, drowned out by the music They raise their hands in the air, each creating an infinite beam of light with their hands. The beams carry out into the sky, which then cuts to the Ultima.

(1:45 to 2:10)

Xevarre’s father lies on his bed, the room a bit more gothic in design. Nimkarius, feeling ill, holds the hand of his daughter, and she moves in closer to hug him.

Xevarre: I’m sorry, father, but….

Nimkarius: What is it?

Xevarre: Never mind. I’ve been weak. Too easily swayed. I can’t let their games get the best of me. I just…I need to breathe for a moment. I will be an amazing queen, right father? Father…?

She gets no reply.

(4:40 to 5:04 - instrumental)

She moves out of the room and into the hall beside it. Dheamus walks with her as she tries to keep a stiff sturdy lip. The other Soltarans look to her, and she puts on a face showcasing confidence and maybe…a kind of hope. But for whom?

*End of Music*

Back at the ships, Alex and Kozar look around for any of ships, based on the coordinates that should have been correct. Alex believes that it was all for nothing, and that the coordinates have probably changed a long time since Qatav found that information. However, as Kozar tells her not that staying here isn’t going to solve anything, a radio signal appears, staticky at first, but we hear the voice of an alien speaking.

Voice: Hello, I am reading that your ships are on the Kranwell belt.

Alex: I guess. I have no idea where on Earth, or, well, whatever, we’re supposed to be.

Voice: Earth, that’s a new one. What brings you here?

Alex: We had to flee. Long story short, from another galaxy, these evil godlike aliens and their weird-ass powers –

Voice: Say no more. My name is Altren, founder and co-president of your last line of defense. Move up a bit closer. We can’t wait to meet you.

Alex follows the order and moves forward, signaling for the others that they should follow suit, albeit slowly and cautiously. They see more and more ships, slowly but surely, leading to a gigantic ship, bigger than the SoU flagship but smaller than the Ultima. As more and more ships are seen, Alex, turns to the others, who look on in shock and awe. Alex sends a final message to Altren:

“We’ve got a lot of people ready to help you out. My name is Alexandra Marianne Spark of the Milky Way Galaxy. We’re here, we’re pissed off, and we’re ready to take back our universe.”

Panning towards the interior of the center of the resistance ship, we see an alien with a somewhat cream-colored skin, features making it seem like she is wearing a mask, a brown jacket, and other mismatched features. Her cobalt hair sticks out like the tail of a comet. She holds a voice set to her mouth as she says, “You’ve come to the right place.”

FADE TO BLACK

The end credits play to an original song, “Never Fade Away” by Years and Years, a pulse pounding song about perseverance and coming back after the worst happens. The credits mimic the light tunnel sequence, as credits fade away as the background changes color.

Post Credits Scene 1: Milwaukee, 1993

Spoiler

Several college age friends are at a party, as music appropriate for the time period plays. One of them calls out to his friends that he needs to step out to get some fresh air. He goes into the city street, looking up at the stars. Suddenly, something moves closer and closer to him. He starts to back away very nervously, until a light on the object begins to glow. He stops in his tracks, as the bottle cap drone pierces his neck. He stands there, somewhat frozen, as a friend steps out from behind him, “Yo, Everett, you okay?”

Post Credits Scene 2: In An Alternate Universe…

Spoiler

This scene is fully computer animated. We see the Ultima spaceship cruising through space. Xevarre is confused as to why she is animated. Meanwhile, a Soltaran soldier remarks that there are intruders on the ship. The look on to see…. Marion and Cassie from Bounty Hamster.  (Roles reprised by Charlie Day and Sophia Lillis respectively) The Soltarans look on in complete confusion, but Marion single handedly beats the crap out of all of them, including Xevarre, Dheamus, and Nimkarius. Cassie remarks that this isn’t their universe, and that they should probably leave it to someone else. Marion scoffs, but reluctantly walks away, “So this is how Jake Gyllenhaal feels.” Cassie asks the audience if now is a bad time to say that they have a new movie coming out next year? Assuming that they’re not watching this well after it was released? Looking to the side, she sheepishly walks away.

Plot:

Spoiler

David is a post-college graduate who is struggling to make ends meet. He lives in a run-down apartment with his friend Charlie, who is getting increasingly frustrated at David for not pulling his weight in terms of rent. Not only that but he also has to deal with his extremely overbearing mother, who keeps unfairly comparing him to his older more successful sister.

Tired of all the nagging and in desperate need of money, David looks online for a job that he could easily get. After an hour or so of searching, he comes across an ad that peaks his interest. No company name is listed save for a simple description asking for imaginative people looking to make good money, with a phone number to call at the bottom of the ad. Intrigued at the idea of easy money, David calls up the number and is greeted on the other end. He talks with the person on the other line, expressing his interest in the ad. The other person on the line gives him instructions on what to do and we see David hastily writing on a piece of paper as the person on the other line gives him instructions.

Cut to the next day where we see David approaching a nice looking office building. He walks inside and is greeted by the receptionist who directs him to the waiting room. After a minute or so of waiting, he is greeted by one of the workers, Meg, who asks him to come with her to one of their back rooms. When they get to the room, which is almost completely white, Charlie meets another of the workers there, Jonathan, who asks him to lie down on a bed placed in the middle of the room. Meg and Jonathan both explain to Charlie that all he needs to do for them is to sit in the room alone, with sensors attached to his head to monitor his brain waves, and ask for him to imagine a double of himself. David, confused, asks if this is all he needs to do in order to get payed. Jonathan laughs, assuring him that regardless if his attempt is successful or not, he will still get paid. David asks what will happen if the experiment is not successful. Meg tells him that they will keep doing it everyday until he is able to fully visualize a second version of himself. David, understanding what is expected of him, says he is ready to start the experiment.

We see a montage of several days going by as for a few hours each day, David lays on the bed trying to imagine a second version of himself. Meg and Jonathan guide him through the process through speakers while they watch in another room, giving him tips as to help him better visualize a second version of himself. One of the things they tell is that if he starts getting bored and restless, instead of getting up and walking around, he should imagine his double doing it, which they dub as a “tulpa”. David has trouble with it the first few days. He tries to imagine his double but most times, the double disappears as other thoughts enter his head. Finally, on the last day of the week, David manages to keep his tulpa present for the entire six hours he is there. Meg and Jonathan are pleased with the results with Jonathan commenting that he is progressing better than imagined.

The next week, after a break for the weekend, David returns and is placed in a different room. This time in an all black room with mounted speakers. Meg and Jonathan ask him to try and visualize the tulpa even with all the distracting stimuli. They begin to play loud, disturbing music over the loudspeakers, saying that they want to see if he can visualize the double with all the sounds. David manages to visualize the tulpa, ignoring the distractions. The same process continues for the next week or so, with the music progressively getting darker and guttural, but David shrugs it off, starting to get better and better at summoning the double.

After another week of so, David, starting to get bored of the process, starts to interact with his doppelganger. The two have full-on conversations, joke around with each other, and play a game of rock-paper-scissors with each other (the doppelganger manages to win almost every time). As the days go on, David asks his doppelganger to perform other fun tasks like juggling or break-dancing. David asks Meg and Jonathan if his foolishness would hinder their studies but the two encourage him to continue it.

One day during the experiment, David talks to the doppelganger about his first date in high school, describing the event in great detail. The doppelganger stops him in the middle to correct him saying that David described her as wearing a yellow top, when in reality she was actually wearing a green top. David thinks for a second, realizing his double is right. When his shift is up, he confronts Meg asking her if this is normal.

“You’re using the thought form to access your subconscious. You knew on some level that you were wrong, and you subconsciously corrected yourself.”

David finds the idea of his double being able to dig up long forgotten thoughts from his subconscious incredibly interesting and starts to experiment with it in interesting ways (the double is able to recite full chapters of books that David had read and forgot about during his highschool years).

Eventually, David starts envisioning his double outside of the research center. As the months start to pass by, we see the two spend more time together outside of the center. The double is summoned at very random times: when David is hanging out with Charlie and his other friends at their apartment, when he’s visiting his mother, and even brings the double on the date with a girl named Zoey.

During the date, the double sits next to David, observing Zoey, as the two of them interact. After the date, David believes he blew the date but the double tells him that wasn’t the case. He lists a few subtle clues that David did not pick up on, such as Zoey laughing a little too hard at some of David’s less than stellar jokes, leaning towards him when he spoke, etc. David begins to realize that his double may be more in touch with him than he is with himself.

One day at the research center, Jonathan and Meg approach David and ask him if he has stopped visualizing his tulpa. David denies this, saying that he has managed to summon him outside of the research center almost on a daily basis. Jonathan and Meg seem pleased by this response and dismiss him for the day. As David leaves for the day, he asks his double what the meaning behind that exchange was all about but the double shrugs it off, saying he’s not sure what to make of it.

As another month starts to pass by, David starts to become more withdrawn from the world, more so than he was before. He stops actively conversing with Charlie, blows off hanging out with his friend group, breaks off his relationship with Zoey, and ignores his mother’s calls. He begins to spend hours upon hours in his room talking with the double, only going out to the research center.

One night, after hearing David having a conversation with some unknown presence, Charlie angrily confronts him, saying that he thinks David needs help. David tries to calm him down, noticing that Charlie is heavily intoxicated, but the latter refuses and angrily berates David for being a shitty friend. David begins to grow increasingly frustrated with his friend as their argument begins to turn more heated. In the back of his mind, David hears a voice telling him to hit Charlie. David tries to ignore it but Charlie’s loud yells and the voice’s deafening demand cause David to break. He punches Charlie in the nose which leads to an all-out brawl between the two of them. David mercilessly beats Charlie, leaving him with nothing but a bloodied face and a few broken ribs for good measure. He collapses to the floor, unconscious. David stands over his friend just staring at his hand, confused and scared about what just happened.

Having heard the violent noises, one of the neighbors calls the police on the apartment. The police arrive, taking Charlie in for questioning and also getting a statement from David, who tells the police that Charlie was the instigator in the fight (showing the officers some of the injuries he received during the skirmish). After the police leave, David goes to examine his facial injuries in the bathroom. He feels some guilt over what he did, realizing that Charlie was just concerned about his well-being. The double, however, sneers at David’s thought, saying that he doesn’t need Charlie anymore or anyone else for that matter, his words make David’s skin crawl with fear.

The next day, David explains this to Meg and Jonathan, saying that he believes the double caused him to lash out at his roommate. Meg and Jonathan both laugh the idea off, Meg telling him that he shouldn’t be scared of something that he is imagining. The two walk off, leaving a confused Jonathan alone as the Tulpa stands behind him gloating.

The next few days, we see David evading conversation with the double and try to stop imagining this. The double senses this and begins to grow increasingly angry and lashes out in anger at David. David begins to notice that his double is slowly changing for the worse physically. The tulpa begins to grow taller and imposing. His facial features begin to look more menacing as his skin starts to ashen, his teeth sharpen, and his demeanor and speech sounding more and more like a snake. David tries his damndest to stop imagining his double, each attempt causing it to disappear more and more each time. Everytime the double comes back, however, it begins to grow more and more hateful. Outside of the research center, David is able to stop imagining his double for hours on end but each time the double comes back, the discordant music that plays daily in his room seems to accompany it wherever they go.

David still continues to go to research center, desperately needing the money, as Charlie has moved out of their apartment and he now has to pay full rent. One day, when he goes into the research center, David is confronted by Meg and Jonathan, who are furious with him. They accuse him of purposely not imagining his tulpa anymore which angers David who lashes out Jonathan. David is restrained by two large men who carry him off to another room. David goes crazy trying to release himself from their tight grips but is sedated by one of the doctors, causing him to black out.

When he wakes up, David finds himself strapped down in a hospital bed, finding himself face to face with his doppelganger who towers over David, music blaring in the background. David is mortified at his double’s now corpse-like appearance as it gets right in his face. The double taunts him as it runs its long fingernails along David’s skin. David tries to focus on making the double disappear to no avail. This makes the double cackle, telling David that it's no use trying to get rid of him now. He runs his gangly fingers across David’s face, poking and prodding at him. The double assures David that he’ll make sure no one knows he’s gone, saying that he’ll gladly take his place. He lets go of David as a group of doctors enter the room. David thrashes against his restraints, yelling and kicking but is sedated once again.

David is kept in the room for what feels like weeks as his double continues to mentally torture him. David is continually injected with different drugs, further enhancing his hallucinations and causing him to become increasingly dizzy. During one of his hallucinations, David imagines his mother and sister standing over him, calling him a failure and berating him at an ungodly volume. The tulpa towers over both of them, slitting their throats with a knife, their blood showering all over David who screams in agony at the sight. The tulpa cackles, relishing in David’s pain.

The tulpa continues to torture David both verbally and physically for what feels like an eternity. One day, a physically defeated David just sits and listens as the tulpa tells in him in great deal the kind of stuff he plans to do outside of the research center. The double eventually comes to the plan he has of gutting everyone David knows, starting with his sister. David lies in bed not knowing how to react as the tulpa reaches over and feels his head, like a mother to a sick child. The tulpa smirks, telling David that all thoughts are creative, before leaving out the door. David is given another injection by one of the doctors and passes out.

David awakens to find his restraints gone and all the medical equipment that was attached to him missing. Confused, he gets out of bed and goes to his door to find it unlocked. He sees the hall outside is dark and empty. Seizing his chance, he bolts out of the room. He runs through the hallways, noticing that the center is eerily quiet with no signs of life anywhere. David makes it outside and turns back to see a giant “For Sale” sign plastered on the outside walls on a decrepit looking building. David is shocked but doesn’t care as he turns around and runs, not looking back.

David manages to make it back to his apartment alright without any problem. He gets in, locks the door, pushes his dresser up against the door, and collapses against it, exhausted. After David takes a long shower, he sleeps for several days, with no one coming to check-up on him during that time. He sleeps pleasantly, for the first time in a long time.

Eventually, David gets enough courage to tell the police his story. After some thorough investigation, the police are unable to find anything regarding what happened to the research center or the whereabouts of its employees. The names of the workers that David had given to the authorities were aliases and even the money that David received for payment was practically untraceable. David’s recovery from his experience is long and painful but he manages to keep himself together.

One day, David gets a call from his mother who has terrible news for him: his sister is the latest victim in a spree of killings throughout the city. David is told by the police that the supposed perpetrator of these crimes mugs the victims then guts them. We cut to David and his mother at the funeral. During one of the eulogies, David is distracted by music coming from a far off distance, the same discordant music he is all too familiar with, slowly getting louder and louder.

Plot:

Spoiler

We open about 1 year after the events of the first God of War. The Gods of Olympus are having a meeting discussing the realm of the mortals and their duties. Kratos, the new God of War, is still haunted by nightmares of his past, hating his godly duties and is shunned by the other gods except for Athena for his destructive ways as well as his loyalty and helping the Spartan army as the gods tend to try to keep out of mortal affairs. Hades excitedly mention there’s going to be a huge war in Rhodes and tons of casualties. Hermes is a bit disturbed but Hades points out its more guests to the Underworld. Kratos proposes they do something to stop it. Poseidon vehemently proclaims it’s not their place. Kratos gets angry at Poseidon as the two are about to fight but before they can, a god with flowing white hair and beard enters the meeting room to stop the fight, revealing himself as Zeus, much to the shock of everyone, having finally awakened from his hundred year slumber. Zeus immediately takes a dislike to Kratos, looking down upon him asking why is a human the newest god. Athena explains why but Zeus says it doesn’t matter and explains to Kratos that it is not their place and although he doesn’t expect him to understand, he warns if he goes against him the consequences will be grave. Kratos reluctantly agrees as the meeting of the Gods concludes with a giant feast filled with people and other gods. Everyone but Kratos is having a good time as he goes to look off the shore of where he attempted to kill himself in the previous movie. Athena walks up to Kratos and asks him how is holding up and Kratos snarks with a dry laugh “Very shitty.” Athena understands Kratos is still going through the loss of his family and Artemis but tells him he’ll be alright. Kratos agrees but the Spartans are he has left and besides Zeus is a prick. Athena says that Zeus as much of a prick he can be only wants the best for Olympus and humanity. Athena, warns Kratos as a friend to stay out of it and that Zeus is more powerful than any of them. Kratos doesn’t give her a yes or no answer but says he’ll think about it.

Ignoring Athena's warnings, Kratos goes to the Spartan army in an attack on Rhodes. We then cut to Rhodes as the Spartan army charges against the Rhodes army. We see many brutal action shots with arms and heads flying, and blood squirts. However despite their larger numbers, the Spartans are at a disadvantage due the Rhodes superior weaponry but Kratos drops out of the sky to help the Spartans even the odds. Kratos tears aparts soldiers using his new Blades of Athena bonded to his arms, going full berserker mode (think Ares to the Barbarians in the first film), however he stops to take a breather and during which a giant eagle flies overhead of Kratos. Suspecting it to be a pissed off Athena and that the Spartans are now winning, Kratos follows it to a mountain cliff with lurched on top of a giant statue. Before Kratos can explain, the eagle opens its mouth letting out a wave of golden energy that painfully and suddenly drains Kratos of most of his powers. The eagle then spews that energy on the statue as the bronze statue starts to move, animating the Colossus of Rhodes. The Colossus Of Rhodes then proceeds to lay waste onto the Spartan army and Rhodes army decimating everything in its path. The Colussus is about to slam its fist onto the remnants of the Spartans but Kratos with his trusty blades catches it. Kratos then whips the Colussus fist to the side, slamming the Colussus to the ground. Kratos then uses his blades that are entangled to the fist to send the Colussus’s own fist flying in its face. The Colussus then grabs a huge boulder and bashes it over Kratos, trying to squash him like an insect. While inside the statue, Kratos tries to climb his way out but he is too weak until he notices a strange blade inside the giant, a unknown voice tells Kratos to use it. Kratos picks up the blade and the voice tells him to fuse it with him but warns it’ll cost him his powers. Kratos is unsure until he hears the wails of his fellow Spartans as he fuses the remainder of his power to the blade and stabs the Colussus for the inside, strangely causing the Colussus pain. The Colussus then attempts to swallow a series of large objects in order to defeat Kratos. As Kratos dodges and use the blade to slice through the falling trees, building debris, large boulders as he gets to the top of the Colussus’ throat, protruding the blade through its neck as he runs around the neck to saw off the Colussus’ head. Although now human, Kratos defeats the Colossus as he jumps out of its neck hole using the new blade to slide down. However, Kratos is mortally wounded from the fight and is about to die. The eagle comments on Kratos’ puniness but that what he expects from a human, as it lands next to the dying Kratos. The eagle reveals itself to have been Zeus all along, who states he was forced to intervene as Athena refused to do so. Zeus then grants Kratos a final opportunity to be loyal to the gods, but Kratos refuses. Zeus kills him with the blade and destroys the Spartan army, roasting them alive with huge thunderbolts and strong winds that send them flying.

Kratos is slowly dragged to the Underworld by Hades’s harpies, Kratos tries to summon his blades but he is too weakened and more of the harpies swarm around him. However, a blast of energy disintegrates the harpies and a hand of a 1200 foot tall woman grabs him and brings him out of the Underworld into a forestry like area.

The woman introduces herself as Titan Gaia, mother of Earth. Gaia reveals she has been watching Kratos from quite some time and what’s to help him, healing his wounds. Kratos asks her to tell him everything explaining she also wants revenge on Zeus as the Titans used to rule the planet until Zeus appeared and turned their children, the Olympian Gods.

Gaia tells the story of Zeus and how Cronos, Zeus' father, ate all of his children to prevent the prophecy that one of his own children would rise against him and how Rhea, Zeus' mother, saved her child and sent him away to an island that was really Gaia, the Titaness Mother of Earth and Zeus' grandmother, and Gaia nurtured Zeus until he grew to be a man and after learning the truth, sought revenge against Cronos and all the Titans. As the Great War between the Gods and the Titans emerged, Zeus soon created a powerful weapon called the Blade of Olympus to end the Great War and with the Blade he banished the Titans to the depths of Tartarus.

When the Titans were defeated by the Gods, they were punished and humiliated for centuries. Gaia gifts Kratos, Pegasus, a horse with beautiful wings as she instructs him to find The Sisters Of Fate in order to change his past and avert his betrayal and kill Zeus. Gaia admits she doesn’t know where it is but if anyone that she knows that has an idea it’s her brother Typhon. Kratos thanks Gaia and goes off to find Typhon, heading straight for his lair in the snowy mountains.

Imprisoned under a mountain, Typhon is angered at the intrusion and traps Pegasus, forcing Kratos to explore on foot. Kratos finds out through Greek hieroglyphics of the world that the Island Of Creation is where the Sisters Of Fate reside. Kratos then encounters the Titan Prometheus, who is chained in mortal form and tortured by an giant eagle attempting to pull off his body parts. Kratos scares off the eagle as Prometheus thanks him, revealing that Typhon has been working with Zeus since the war. Prometheus begs to be released from his torment, so Kratos confronts Typhon to face him off.  He blinds the massive Titan by stabbing our both of his eyes. Typhon unable to see thrashes around the mountain trying to get Kratos, but causes a complete cave in, and Typhon gets impaled by large rocks not before he can send a message to Zeus. The avalanche frees Prometheus, but he is about to fall into a fire but Kratos catches him and saving him. Prometheus, finally free of eternal torture, thanks Kratos and asks to join Kratos on his quest which Kratos agrees with. The two free Pegasus and then fly to the Island of Creation.

Zeus learns about this revelation and is shocked. Zeus goes to the Underworld to meet with Hades, asking him for a small army of damned souls used to hunt down Kratos. Hades initially refuses but Zeus reminds Kratos’ soul was rightfully his, not to mention if Kratos goes after Zeus, who knows which god he’ll kill next. Hades agrees and Zeus chooses the souls of Kratos’ most deadly enemies of his past; the brawny Barbarian King, the cocky Icarus with the ability of flight, and the deadly Medusa from the last movie. (The three all look somewhat dead, and even paler than Kratos and slightly decayed thanks to make up).

Reaching the island, a giant platform of ice impalas and kills Pegasus, causing Kratos and Prometheus to make a rough crash landing on The Island Of Creation below.  The two finds Thesus with a shit eating grin, guarding the entrance. Kratos warns Thesus to move aside or die. Theseus, however, was amused by Kratos' intentions and mocked him, claiming that he was no match for Zeus or even Thesus himself and Prometheus as powerless Titan. He then says he’ll take much pleasure in killing the two of them.

Battling Kratos and Prometheus (who prove to good at hand to hand combat) with his double edged sword, Theseus proved a tough fighter, often hitting the two efficiently with the blades, managing to stab Kratos in the gut however, the teamwork between the Spartan and the former Titan proves to be too powerful for Theseus, who wielded a double-ended sword. Taking punishment from the two and retaliating with vicious slashes and stabs. After taking a certain amount of damage in the battle, Theseus became even more dangerous after igniting the magical powers the sword held, increasing its power and enabling Theseus to summon massive spikes of ice to erupt from the ground in various formations. The icicles to manage to stab the two and encase Prometheus in ice. Kratos however, kept the upper hand.

Significantly weakened, Theseus climbed a doorway above Kratos, out of the Spartan's reach, forcing him climb after him. Ultimately, Kratos knocked Theseus off the roof, leaving him hanging by a single arm, The Spartan then latched his blade into him and pulled him down to the ground. Kratos subsequently turned Theseus' own sword against him by punching him in midair to take it from him and impaling him to the door with it.

Kratos frees Prometheus and the two roams the island. Prometheus tells Kratos they must find Titan Atlas, who’s imprisoned on the island for centuries, as he is the only one who can give them the power to the sisters. However, it gets dark and the two decide to camp for the night.

Kratos finds a lone pig and kills it and brings it to Prometheus who starts a small fire, cooking the pig. As soon as the pig is finished, the two feast on the pig. Prometheus asks Kratos about himself as Kratos tells him what has brought him here recounting him the tale of Zeus’s betrayal. Prometheus sympathizes for Kratos as he too was betrayed by Zeus for wanting to help people, revealing him bringing fire to help the mortals but Zeus imprisoned him and drained him of his powers sending him to be tortured by Typhon. Prometheus promises when sees Zeus again, he’ll make him suffer as the two bond trying to one up each other with ways to kill Zeus as well as ludicrous ways to celebrate their victory.

The next morning, Kratos wakes up to do some stretches and goes to the pond nearby to wash his face when suddenly the Barbarian King surprise him, swinging his hammer at Kratos, sending him flying back into the beach shores. Kratos wakes up Prometheus and tells him they got trouble. Medusa slithers her way to the beach as The Barbarian King runs towards them as Icarus descends from the sky. Prometheus says he’ll take care of Icarus and Medusa and tells Kratos to gets rid of the Barbarian King. The Barbarian King swings his hammer around at Kratos as he dodges each swing while spinning his blades around in a circle to create a shield, while occasionally slashing the brutish barbarian. The Barbarian King then catches the blades with his hammer and tosses both weapons to the side, facing Kratos hand to hand, where Kratos is a overwhelmed by the King’s increased strength. Medusa attempts to turn Prometheus into stone as Icarus does a bunch of swoops, taking the time to unleash a series of kicks. The two easily outmatch Prometheus at first. Shielding his eyes, Prometheus uses his sword to impales Medusa who lets out an anguished yell as he tosses the double edged sword like a javelin to knock Icarus out of the sky, seemingly killing him. Using it to his advantage, Kratos slips around the Barbarian King and hurls him into Medusa, turning the Barbarian into stone during the process. Prometheus then uses the statue to ram it into Medusa, stunning her as he snaps her neck. The two take a breather but Icarus grabs Kratos and takes him into the sky.  However just when Icarus is about to drop Kratos, Kratos climbs on top of him putting him into a chokehold as he steers Icarus elsewhere, pinning the winged warrior’s wings together and forcing him into the ground. Prometheus follows after the two on foot. While falling Icarus tries to break free but Kratos also uses his blades to restrain Icarus even further as the two crash into the ground.

A bloody Kratos gets up and grabs his blades ready to fight Icarus again but finds out that Icarus died from the impact. Kratos takes a good look around and find he’s in the middle of nowhere but finds a group of descending stairs. Kratos goes down the stairs to find a lost city, (we get a good view of the crumbled buildings and statues, as well the skeletons of others). Kratos then finds a fountain with an giant hole where the water is supposed to be and uses his blades to scale down the well, encounters the imprisoned Titan Atlas in giant chains, who initially resents Kratos, for not only being a mortal. After Kratos explains his intent and that Gaia and the other Titans also seek revenge on Zeus for their defeat in the Great War, Atlas agrees to help.

Prometheus enters warning Kratos they must leave. Atlas is furious at Prometheus calling him a traitor much to Kratos’ confusion saying Typhon never was with Zeus but his scum brother Prometheus was. Prometheus explains that yes he did get his powers drained by Zeus for making fire he was the first Titan to join Zeus knowing they couldn’t win due to their tactics not to mention, Zeus promised him his powers back if he killed Kratos. Outraged, Kratos charges at Prometheus for a final fight. Prometheus uses the double edged sword to block Kratos’ enraged slashes, not before stabbing him in the gut. Kratos then delivers an uppercut to Prometheus, facing him hand to hand, avoiding the latters sword. Kratos then knocks the sword out of Prometheus’ hand. The two are both fighting each other very brutally, as both are bloody and black eyed. Prometheus although delivers a few good hits in, Kratos is stronger, and breaks Prometheus’ arms like twig, and use his chains to put him in a chokehold.

Prometheus, with a cocky laugh reveals that Kratos should give up now or end up like the Spartans, revealing Zeus told him about the former killing the rest of the Spartans after Kratos. Outraged, Kratos then kills Prometheus by slicing his head clean off of his body. Atlas thanks Kratos for killing the rat, and absorbs Prometheus’ energy and transfers it into Kratos, healing him and boosting his strength. Atlas also reveals that the Blade of Olympus is the key to defeating Zeus and helps Kratos to reach the "Palace of the Fates", suggesting he find the imprisoned Phoenix downstairs but warns it’s booby trapped but Kratos doesn’t care as his desire for revenge fuels him even more.

Evading traps as well as deadly monsters, Kratos bulldozes through them in a fit of rage and frees a phoenix, riding the creature to the Sisters' stronghold. Kratos then sets the Phoenix frees as it flies off elsewhere.  Finally reaching the Throne Room, Kratos expresses his firm desire to change his own fate, and that of Zeus, the King of the Gods of Olympus, after which the Sisters deny him passage through. Kratos then confronts Lakhesis, the middle sister and Atropos, the oldest sister. Lakhesis taunts Kratos pointing out they have all the cards and the only reason why he made it here was because they were bored. Atropos says he can go back and live or face them and die. Kratos, refusing this fate, battles them. Kratos easily outmatched them physically  forcing the Sisters try to change the outcome of Kratos' battle with Ares, but Kratos kills them both, then confronts the remaining Sister in the Loom Hall, a giant machine that contains the threads of all lives, mortals, Gods and Titans alike (The Loom Of Fate). Clotho, the youngest sister congratulating Kratos for making it this far armed with a slender axe. The two have an intense fight as Kratos’ blades and Clotho’s axe clash back to back.  Pinning Clotho's hands to the ground and tosses her into the machine, Kratos kills the final sister, granting him control over the Loom and his own fate. He goes back to his death at Zeus' hands.

We then cut to the Zeus (in his eagle form) swooping down near the rubble of the Colusssus. Shifting back into his regular form, Zeus looks for Kratos but Kratos surprises Zeus, with the Blade of Olympus, and unleashes a surprise attack on Zeus. Zeus flings a few thunderbolts but Kratos dodges them, stabbing him with the Blade of Olympus while dodging hits. At the end of the fight, Zeus, tired of playing games, stuns Kratos with a powerful lighting storm, Kratos then announces untruthfully that he surrenders. As Zeus is about to kill Kratos, he deflects the blow using an energy blast and pins Zeus's hands to the rock with The Blades of Athena. Kratos then takes the Blade of Olympus and begins driving it into Zeus' chest. But before Kratos can give the finishing blow, Athena intervenes and implores Kratos to stop, as by killing Zeus, he will destroy Olympus in the process. Kratos ignores her and tries to kill Zeus, but Athena sacrifices herself by impaling herself upon the blade, granting Zeus' escape. Before she dies, Athena reveals that Kratos is actually Zeus' son. Zeus was afraid Kratos would usurp him, just as Zeus had usurped his own father, Cronos. After a moment of apparent shock and shame, Kratos darkens and snarls that he has no father. Athena dies in Kratos' arms, saying that all the Gods on Olympus will deny Kratos, defending Zeus so Olympus will prevail. Kratos then vows to exact retribution on Zeus and any God who will deny him his vengeance, saying that their time is at an end. The dead Athena's body soon explodes as Gaia speaks to Kratos and reminds him that he has the power to control time itself. Kratos declares that the rule of the gods are at its end, traveling back in time to rescue the Titans before their defeat in the war.

In he present, a defeated Zeus encourages his fellow Gods to help him kill Kratos, the Titans return to Kratos' time, angry and vengeful they climb Mount Olympus to kill Zeus and the Gods. Leading them, Kratos announces to Zeus "Zeus! Your son has returned, I bring the destruction of Olympus!!!"
