recent movies that would have made more money if they released in a different decade

1. Edge of Tomorrow - probably would have made over 200m (350m adjusted) in the 90s just by Cruise's starpower and special effects in films still wowing audiences.

 

 

2. American Made - probably would have been another easy hit for Cruise in the 1990s and make over 100m (made only 51m in 2017)

 

3. Escape Plan - having Arnold and Sly together would have generated hype and caused whatever film they appeared in to make 100m in the lat 80s/early 90s

 

 

4. Larry Crowne - never seen it but probably would have made a decent chunk of change in the 90s just by having Tom Hanks/Julia Roberts

 

 

5. Justice League - even it was a poor/average movie like the 2017 release was, if it had come out in 2002/2003 with no other superhero team ups to compare it to, 9/11 still in peoples minds, a popular TV show airing at the time, and no social media to talk about behind the scenes drama it likely would have made a minimum of 300m.

i was thinking about this just this past weekend with skyscraper. seems like the type of bullshit that would've done well twenty years ago probably arnie would've been in it instead of the rock.

The Post is definitely a movie that feels like it would've killed at the box office had it been released about 15-20 years ago.
