Fullbuster
'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Inclusive Reboot in the Works With Joss Whedon Buffy the Vampire Slayer is getting the reboot treatment. 20th Century Fox Television, who produced the original Joss Whedon drama, have put a new take on the beloved Sarah Michelle Gellar drama in development. Writer Monica Breen, who worked with Whedon on ABC's Agents of SHIELD, has been hired to pen the adaptation and serve as showrunner on the reboot. Whedon will be an exec producer on the series and has been working with Breen on the script, which features a black actress stepping into the role of Buffy made famous by Gellar. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/buffy-vampire-slayer-reboot-inclusive-take-joss-whedon-works-1128888
chasmmi
Gonna be interesting how Buffy-like they make it, or whether it will just be a completely different 'girl vs vampires' drama that happens to have a main character called Buffy.
DeeCee
I’m fine with this. Fuck the Kuzui’s.
Spidey Freak
The creator clarified that the series is not a rebooted Buffy but about another Slayer in the Buffyverse.
dudalb
It's not a reboot but a sort of sequel. I smell guest appreances by original cast members in the works....

That's even better that way.
The Panda
I think being a sequel is better than reboot, but then again I never got past season 3 of the original Buffy
dudalb
The fans have already nicknamed this "Buffy:The Next Generatation"./
dudalb
As for quality;it's always difficult to capture lightning in a bottle twice. Seems to fail twice as much as it succeeds.

The Kuzui's have never had a real creative role in the TV show. Their Executive Producer Credit on the show was strictly due to a contractual obligation coming their having produced the film. Whedon made sure they had nothing to due with the TV show beyond that. it's no secret he hated what they did with his script for the movie. DeeCee
I know they had nothing to do with the TV show and messed with the movie. They will still probably still get an "Executive Producer" credit on this as well. Just checked. They do.

Alyson Hannigan and David Boreanaz have done quite well for themselves post Buffy (both had long running hit TV shows "How I Met Your Mother" for Hannigan and "Bones" for Boreanaz) but Sarah Michelle Geller in particular have not been very successful post Buffy. Just checked total worth, and both Hannigan and Boreanaz have a total worth of 30 Million ,and Gellar is worth 20 Millon. I don't think any of the Buffy stars need to worry about starving...those residuals will set you up quite nicely for life if you don't have a really extravagant life style...but Willow and Angel are the ones who have found Post Buffy success. And I enjoy Hannigan's current gig as the co host for Penn and Teller's "Fool Us" show. Edited August 15, 2018 by dudalb
