MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE FALLOUT WEEKEND THREAD | 23 Friday...MM2 4.8...TT 4.25 EQ2 4.0

Recommended Posts

MI6 and Solo had comparable trailer views during Superbowl and that was surprising. MI6's promo was much loved. With 65-70 ow MI6 would need 3.0-3.3x multi to beat Solo 212.5+ dom.

The Spy genre itself has a boxoffice ceiling, typically around $200m DOM total.
Superheroes movies can be much much bigger right now.

The franchise just needs a random explosion like Skyfall or F&F7 (both of those films basically doubled the previous entries WW intake).

Not interested in comparing this to Solo.

The real goal here: MI2 215M DOM for highest grossing movie of the saga.

The U.K. critics are in a conversation on twitter saying if Mission Impossible doesn’t massively overpeform this weekend then they’re living a bubble.

Unless their collective reviews are also supposed to be an indicator of a film's financial success, I don't see why

A movie can be really good and simultaneously have less appeal than say a superhero film. And if it has really strong legs, then it's sort of validation for what they indicated in their reviews. Regardless, it looks like WOM and reviews are gonna align pretty closely on this one. If it doesn't massively overperform this weekend, the problem is probably something else.
