Yeah, credit where credit is due. EG is #2 WW w/o China. So that's fuckin huge. It's #1 with China. That market is part of worldwide boxoffice. They don't go this crazy for every movie so it's more impressive when a movie posts such insane number.

correction  they dont go this crazy for hollywood movies to sum this up endgame made 200 million more than fate of the furious

it seems venom that 2 billion could happen for lion king having a better performance in us and china

THE LION KING

'The Lion King' will break July Box Office Records
Disney

Disney’s The Lion King moved up the charts to become the No. 9 movie of all time globally with $1,435.2M through Sunday. It is also the No. 2 release of 2019 domestically, overseas and worldwide. The drop from last session was 38% with $33.8M more in the offshore coffers which currently total $939.1M. The $1B international milestone should hit soon.

In Europe and Latin America, the Jon Favreau-directed redo of the animated classic is the highest grossing Disney Live Action film ever. In Brazil, TLK is now the No. 2 highest grossing film of all time, behind Avengers: Endgame.

Lion King’s European weekend saw it maintain No. 1 in Belgium (where it is the 2nd biggest movie ever) as well as No. 2s in the UK, Denmark, France, Germany, Norway and Sweden. Regionally in the Middle East, the film is now the 3rd biggest grosser of all time. This means that Disney has the Top 3 all-time releases, along with Aladdinand Endgame. In the Netherlands, The Lion King is now the highest grossing film ever (when excluding the re-release of Titanic).

In Latin America, TLK is the biggest industry film by admissions, holding the No. 1 position in Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay and Venezuela this session. It was No. 2 in Brazil, Argentina and Colombia.

Overall, notable drops were seen in Belgium (-1%), Netherlands (-11%), Japan (-15%), Chile (-19%), Israel (-20%), Germany (-23%), Switzerland (-29%), France (-32%), Sweden (-35%) and Brazil (-35%)

The Top 5 markets to date are: China ($120.3M), UK ($81.1M), France ($67.7M), Brazil ($64M) and Mexico ($50.5M).

Italy joins the pride next weekend and will be the final market to release.

Thanks, just read it. Synopsis obviously cannot do it justice for it's quite dry and confusing but I see it's picked the second best comic book event so I'll trust your word that it's going to be a movie event too. :)

This is doing absolutely insane in the Netherlands it's at 4th place all time in € and will be 2nd after the following weekend only behind Titanic.

This is a list of the 6 highest opening weekends ever and I tried to add other weekends that were high enough so now this list consist of 12 entries above 2.5M and 4 out of these are TLK!!!!! It's 4th weekend ist still the 11th best ever and would be the 6th highest opening weekend ever.

#1: TLK: €4.672M

#2: Endgame: €4.010M

2nd Wend TLK: €3.417M*

#3: Spectre: €3.392M

2nd Wend Spectre: €3.078M

#4: Skyfall: €2.962M

2nd Wend Skyfall: €2.875M

2nd Wend Endgame: €2.806M

3rd Wend TLK: €2.783M

#5: HP 8: €2.658M

4th Wend TLK: €2.580M

#6: HP 6: €2.538M

* So without Endgame TLK's 2nd weekend would have been above the previous OWend record.

Don't want to get too crazy but considering it's at 20.131M after fourth weekend of €2.580M and Titanic has €25.619M, I'd say TLK has  solid chance at topping Titanic and becoming the highest grossing movie ever. Just a little extra information the original version is #10 in the list, so TLK will be twice in the top 10.

In Norway TLK is doing good but nothing out of this world crazy, none the less it's only 7k admission behind Endgame (511k vs 518k) after a 37k 4th weekend so it will top Endgame for #1 off the year in admissions soon and I think by the end of its run it has a chance of topping Endgame in $ too.

In Finland the run is good but it won't top Endgame in and or $.

In Germany its doing way better than I though after having an Owend that wasn't even in the top 100 all time and an OWend 44.9% below Endgame (with the 5-day OWend 47% below Endgame) it will come within 10% of the final total of Endgame (5.1M) so 4.6M with I'd say a 99% chance and a 50% to top Endgame in admissions; in $ I right now would say TLK has a 1% chance to do that.

It's at 3.85M after a 410k 4th weekend. So after next weekend it should be past 4.3M (215k weekdays and a 235k 5th weekend would be enough for that).

Also before the OWend and during the OWend I thought a final of around 3.5M would be likely ($35M) now it looks like it might do 5M and $53M. To beat Endgame in $ it would probably need 6M admissions.

It's not stopping in the Netherlands with a 5th weekend of €2,375,630 (-8%) for a total of €24,119,189 (highest initial run past Titanics €23.6M and second highest overall only behind Titanic with €25.619M).

It would still be the 10th highest OWend!

So its possible that TLK has 5 out of 20 of the biggest weekends ever.

Really want to know what the regional gross for Europe is.

So what does Europe like about it so much that it's beating EG? It's photoreal animation, isn't it?

No, TLK is just the most beloved live action movie ever and most here only like Superhero movies but love those Disney animation movies.

And while it in the end most likely will beat EG in the end in Germany its kinda funny that out of all countries it takes forever in Germany; in € it will most likely stay behind EG though.

This is why I really want to know the regional gross for all of Europe, because it feels like its behind EG in only a few markets. Italy as it hasn't opened yet and then UK (£66M vs £88.7M for EG) and Germany (€40-41M vs €57.3M for EG).
