still 100% after 10 reviews on RT , is this sort of getting dumped with the least amount of marketing by Foxney?

I mean this wasn't gonna make much to begin with. It reminds me of You're Next, another well-reviewed domestic thriller with comic undertones that was released in late August and made little.

So 17 reviews in and this has still a 100% score on RT and avg rating has risen to 7.3.Why isn’t it getting more coverage and buzz? And why Disney/Fox insisted to keep it right before It 2?Could have made wonders with better marketing and release date.

Agreed, and they’re dumping it in 2,300 cinemas.

Even I hadn’t heard of it before last week 😳

Disney are incapable of marketing films like this.

Disney only cares about films that make a billion ☹

To be honest, this seems like a film that would only appeal to a niche audience to the first place.

Lolwut how is this more niche than Happy Death Day and Lights Out?

Anyway, the lack of competition over the next two weeks might still help it if WOM gets out early and before Pennywise chews it out completely (unless spillovers help?)

I never said it was more niche than those movies? Some people here are comparing the film to You're Next, so I'm using that as a basis.

And this why we somehow collectively have to embrace original films ways from the franchise fare and the fireworks that come with  it.Personally I am a huge sucker for comic book films myself but I have decided to support more original films at the theaters (rather discovering them at a boring night at my house ).

Nolan is our one true savor.

Best kind of hope for this film is if it pulls off a Don't Breathe or something. I'm interested to check it out

When you want an original & well-reviewed film to succeed but also you paired it with Hobbs & Shaw in the closest to 150m summer game question :kitschjob:

Do you mean, dump because they do not do some careful type of roll-out (does the material go with that), because 2,300 is a lot for FSL.

Top 5 FSL start:

Row Rank Movie Title (click to view) Studio Total Gross / Theaters Opening / Theaters Open
1 30 The Banger Sisters FoxS $30,307,416 2,739 $10,037,846 2,738 9/20/02
2 16 The Hills Have Eyes FoxS $41,778,863 2,621 $15,708,512 2,620 3/10/06
3 33 Street Kings FoxS $26,418,667 2,469 $12,469,631 2,467 4/11/08
4 52 The Birth of a Nation FoxS $15,861,566 2,105 $7,004,254 2,105 10/7/16
5 39 Baggage Claim FoxS $21,569,509 2,230 $9,031,102 2,027 9/27/13

Or The Hunt, for that matter.

Let's face it, both The Hunt and this are pretty much just variations on the "Most Dangerous Game" plotline.

Horror/comedy hybrids have historically always struggled at the box office unless they are full-on comedies ala Ghostbusters or Zombieland. Not sure why anyone would've expected this to buck the trend, especially coming from a studio (Fox Searchlight, both before Disney and after Disney) that doesn't specialize in this kind of movie. Looking forward to it though! Seems like a blast.

I think that’s a good comparison.

Alrhough there was months of online online hype for You’re Next and nothing for this until last week.

And yet You're Next really ended up tanking.
