infamous5445
Man Japan is so awesome, just for the fact that they're pretty much the only market who are not in love with superhero movies. Then we get stuff like this, where TS4 crushes Endgame there.
Taruseth
Lucky the german performance doesn't matter cause a good way to describe it would be 'ouch'. Looks to open around 225k compared to 362k for 3, 612k for 2 and 404k for TS. That isn't even one of the top 10 starts this year and will only be #3 this weekend behind Hollywood (400k) and TLK's 5th weekend (300k). So a total of a 1-1.1M would be nice (and a slightly better multi than TS3). It furthermore has the disadvantage of opening closer to the end of Summer holidays, in half of Germany yesterday was the first school day again and during a weekend with not so good weather. ATP during OWend in $ for TS4 was 11.22 (≈€8.48), for TS4 I expect it to be $9.2 (€8.3). So in $ the drop will be even harsher, TS4 opened with $4M, TS3 probably with $2.1M. Don't think legs will be good enough to make up for this as TLK will continue to pull in the families, while Hollywood will do the same with the adults. Add in there $30mn from Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and few others. Nice little $660mn overseas. Domestic is most probably heading for $445mn finish. That said $1105mn Approx closing. We should lower these, Japan $105m and DOM $435m. Note to myself find the guy that said DOM would end at around $430m to $435m DOM and apoligise to him because he was totaly right. Total $1090m, Germany is doing really weak buisness so let's hope the other OS markets do there work.

pepsa
Only a 8.6m weekend, if we subtract Germany and Japan we get $4m that is pretty bad tbh.

That's like a 30% drop, no? Edit: Nvm it's close to 50%. BOM is updating, so this isn't accurate. It made like $13M this week (presumption) if we remove Germany and Japan. titanic2187
Estimated international totals through Sunday for Toy Story 4 include: Japan - $81.8M U.K. - $76.7M Mexico - $71.9M Brazil - $32.5M China - $29.1M Australia - $28.7M Argentina - $28.6M France - $28.3M S. Korea - $24.7M Spain - $23.6M #ToyStory4 #BoxOffice Judging from the Country breakdown, the affection to TS remain largely unchanged from 9 years ago when TS3 break billion. Three countries, Japan, Mexico and UK continues to be powerhouse while German and China are just straight out bombed

Obon was good but lower than expected, Germany is Germany and the holdovers fell pretty badly. Say 40M from current markets (Japan will boost the multiplier), 10M domestically and 15M from remaining markets - that's 1.082B. Totally unlikely to see a finish either above 1.1B or below TS3.
keysersoze123
it does matter where it ends as it already exceeded expectations big time without major help from China.
Omni
Over 1.1B would have been a nice cherry But yeah, it doesn't really matters considering how big of a success it has been.
pepsa
OS actuals up 410k, still not great.
StarWarsMemer
Remove Japan and Germany, and the drop is 34.5% (including Poland on both weekends). $20M from current markets + $20M from Germany and other countries where it has opened, yet + $20M from Japan for a culmination of $653M. Just a tick above TS3's OS. Good result Edit: Actually, this has a shot of doing close to $10M in UK alone, which would need 22.7% weekly drops to do so. $7M more is very likely. Taruseth
Heat is slaughtering it in Germany, Thursday dropped 76% compared to opening Day. Weekend will probably drop above 70% too but that is partly because the weather was rainy last weekend and really hot this weekend. If the weather is rainy and colder again next weekend it could potentially increase. None the less, while it will become the 2n highest grossing Pixar movie in the World, in Germany in adm. it most likely will be the lowest one and considering it's OWend was $2.18M and the harsh weekend drop (this one around $500k) it will most likely end right around the lowest one in $ which would be the $5.6M by The Good Dinosaur, maybe a little higher. TS3 did $16-17M. Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland still to open and Madagascar, Togo and Tunisia but I highly doubt they matter much (like final gross below $1M). TS3 did $17M in the former four, so could this do $12M in them?
Omni
I laughed when I read that Toy Story 4's awful opening in Germany was even inflated by the bad weather.
