If Japan somehow overperforms and makes $50m it could cross $400m worldwide which would be amazing

Could see Japan doing well. Hopefully that happens. Then crown it all with the Best Animated Oscar and it will be a great run for this movie (though, for my money, it's the best superhero movie of the year, best Spider-Man movie ever and easy top 5 superhero movies, so would have loved for it to do much MUCH more)

According to BOM it already is close to 350 ww, it's at 172 OS there.

So 400 ww is pretty much a lock now I guess (unless it really underperforms in Japan). Really happy it turned out so good after the slow start :)

i used last weekend's os update for this week's accidentally. yeah 400 is locked!

338 ww after 2.8 os weekend and 4.55 dom weekend.

7 more os and 15 more dom (190 total) gives 338 + 7 + 15 = 360 (can go some higher)

then japan to come.

all in all big profits for the movie. the 55% dom theatrical returns itself cover the prod budget.

Having won Best Animated Film at the Oscars, Spider-Verse is now in a great position heading into its release in Japan on March 8. Hoping for at least $30 million, which would be a big success for a non-Disney/Illumination Hollywood animated film in Japan.

Don't get your hopes up with Japan yet. Not a very wide release and not looking to spark up (though with Japan anything could really happen).

Looking at $1.8m 2-day and $2.2m 3 day weekend forecast. That opening suggests less than $20m total unless it gains legs, which we'll have to wait till 2nd weekend to see really.
