sorry but what do you mean ?

Ah, it’s about the post from @Muzdt just above — Hong Kong presales, I believe. They changed the formatting so it’s a lot easier to read, and Captain Marvel is up to 26k in their latest daily update, which is 3/4 of IW at the same point. That percentage has been slowly increasing in their data over the past days.

I have pre-sale data for Chile.

Wednesday previews stand at 1762 tickets sold at the chain I tracked which has 17% of all showtimes for the previews. Extrapolating that would give ~10,300 in total, a similar total to Bohemian Rhapsody which went on to open to $1,2m USD (equivalent to 99m opening domestic). That would be similar to Black Panther, Thor Ragnarok, and Homecoming

EDIT: Using Thor Ragnarok as a comp I get 1,6M USD, the biggest solo opening for Marvel.

CM still has one day and a half to go so it will increase a lot (it sold 400 tickets in the last day).

Latin American countries tend to behave similarly, and so far Chilean pre-sales have predicted the huge breakout of Dragon Ball Super Broly and the bombing of Alita across the region.

I also have data for OD but I don't have anything to compare it to, I just know that the presales are 10x those of Alita but less than Broly which is a pretty big range lol.

What's your read on the UK anticipation for this film? Not that strong?

I’ve been quite disconnected from the BO/movies in general lately, but I haven’t heard much talk about it really. Pre-sales do look quite strong though so I’m expecting a decent opening.

UK is a bit weird at the moment.

Personally:

Not much chatter around it without prompts, yet whenever I've asked people or heard people talk about it, everybody has said they will go see Captain Marvel. By far the most common reason why was not because of the movie itself, but because they know they need to see it before Endgame arrives.

It's certainly a weird case, that seems to be existent elsewhere too, that many are going to watch because they must, not necessarily for the film itself. This causes a lower anticipation or hype but a higher turnout.

As Heretic said it probably won't do bonkers business, though I do see it higher than he has it (I see it clearing £30m with ease and approaching £40m) purely because so many seem to be saying they'll watch it "because they have to".

When you’ve watched the first 20 episodes and you’re liking the season, you’ve gonna watch the pre-finale episode even if it’s a flashback about a character you aren’t attached to yet. The beauty of the (successful) cinematic universe model.

Yep.

I am still a bit concerned how big the available audience is, but am hoping for the best at the moment.

Realistically, I see very few people missing CM, especially when they know she's coming in Endgame.

P.S. Anybody who suggests that only hardcore fans know she's coming is lying to themselves. All 3 showings of Infinity War I went to had less than 10% of people leave before the tease, even then people knew what was coming from that. Also everybody I've spoke to knows she's coming.
