i think this means warwick davis and jennifer aniston need to come back for another leprechaun movie. that's only a sequel to the original of course. huge potential there.

Ain't nobody with taste going near any movie that wipes Leprechaun In Tha Hood from canon.

‘Halloween’ Scaring Up $14M+ Overseas, Slashing Way To $95M Global Weekend

Quote

EXCLUSIVE: Universal/Miramax/Blumhouse’s David Gordon Green-directed reboot-sequel Halloween is scaring up an estimated $14.7M bow at the international box office this weekend. This is in line with Uni estimates heading into the launch where Jamie Lee Curtis’ badass strode into 23 markets. Mexico, the UK and Russia are the only majors this frame (next weekend is a bigger push in key hubs). Coupled with domestic, the worldwide bow is expected to hit $95M — these figures may of course shift when we get the full rundown tomorrow and the actuals on Monday.

I think the link might be interesting for quite some ppl for the comparisons and more

I hope that Halloween gets the opening weekend record. I like for movies that had more effort put into them to have opening weekend records. And no I haven't seen either film but the people behind Halloween at least look like they were trying to make something good,  whether they succeeded remains to be seen by me. I'm not a big slasher fan.

And no my opinion does not take away from Venom's success. Nothing I say will take away Venom's success nor do I care to. It's a smash hit,  congrats to all involved.

2011 had a string of duds with Fright Night, Apollo 18, and Shark Attack + like 3 others.... all classic remakes back in August.

I still think it is silly they cancelled the Ft13th found footage/handheld camera movie

But I thought R rated horror movies didn’t make the kind of money that PG-13 rated horror does.

This would have been apropos 2 years ago. We are way past this now. Nobody thinks that anymore buddy LOL

I'm sorry but I find First Man's box office so fascinating. The critics are raving but the audience are shrugging and saying that it's okay. It will get Oscar noms but it will overall be seen as a bump in the road for the director. People can claim 3/3 all they want, First Man was set up to be a hit. Halloween will cover it.

After seeing the movie, I can't say I'm surprised it's making the numbers that it is.

On ComScore/Screen Engine’s PostTrak, Halloween is three-and-a-half stars, 75% overall positive with Men 25+ leading the way at 32% followed by F25+ (28%), M25- (31%) and F25- (19%) — the latter who are giving the pic its best scores at 78%.

Seems kinda low? Overall positive below at 75%?  IT also got a B+ CS but it had 85% overall positive on PostTrak.
