Bohemian Rhapsody OS: $684M OS | $900M WW

Recommended Posts

The fact that the WW gross will be closer to $900m than $800m is in and of itself ridiculous. Try saying that in November 2018. 🤯

OS gross itself going over $650m without China is outrageous.

I just hope we will get something like this run the next few years. Especially exciting overseas runs (for movies that weren't predicted to be huge) feel like they are pretty rare.

AQM is heading towards a 1147 ww and 855 ww-china finish. So BR ww (-china) will easily beat AQM's already amazing ww-china. I don't mean to undermine China's AQM achievement and importance and BR in China would not have added much anyway. But just cause BR didn't release in China which happened to be AQM's 2nd biggest market, it's worth a comparison after removing China. If we remove Japan also for both AQM and BR, AQM ww-china-japan will beat BR ww-china-japan handily.

Looking at budget and expectations BR is the greatest ww surprise and achievement of 2018, beyond even BP IMO.

I think it has a good chance of passing $900 million now. Just needs around $20 million from China.

Furthermore it had the 3rd best 10th weekend, beating Avatar and Your Name..

The amount of money left to get from Japan is anywhere from $40m (about what Avatar got after its 10th weekend at current ER) to $85m (About what Your Name. got after its 10th weekend).

However, literally it beat both this weekend... It could see even more than that... $900m WW is not out of the question. (Albeit incredibly difficult, but it's >0.1% chance)

Even in mid January people called me somewhat crazy for believing $900m was "not out of the question". Now it's got a "good chance" to do so.

This film just keeps surprising. Even after it's phenomenal run it then just punches above its weight even more.

I still think it won't quite reach $900m but it's going to be very close. The fact that it can come closer to 900 than 850 is already astonishing and absurd. I think it has reached all time top ten in a few countries as well (in Australia it sure has). Just....WOW.

It should do well on home video market as well. People who think this movie won't be remembered well compared to other Oscar winning movies are either clueless or biased.
