DP has higher budget at $150m but will do considerably better domestically while Rampage over indexed in China.  Maybe $150m Dom?  Depending on how it does O/S it could bring more revenue to the studios (WB & Legendary) WW and it's ancillaries should be significantly higher domestically.

 

Additionally, as soon as Rampage made profit or hits a certain milestone (if it has yet in ancillaries)  Rock's considerable back end deal kicks in. Reynolds probably also has participation points but doubtfully at the same level as The Rock's in this franchise.

What's the big deal here? The film is doing very well, or had a lot of people gone with completely ludicrous, aka 1 billion + predictions after the first trailer came out or something?

Around $500M WW is good but I wouldn't call it doing very well.

Dom: $150m

O/S- China: $270m

That would be quite good for a $150m movie and the relaunch of a property in film that also sells a lot of merchandise (provided WB and Legendary are getting a cut of that - is Pikachu licensed or owned?)  If it has good WOM and ancillaries then it's more than enough to justify sequels.   It would be near the same range as Godzilla but with more cute toys.

Well true it ain't a flop or a disappointment for WB by any means. Though hopefully won't take 5 years to get a sequel (which has little to do with the first anyways) like Godzilla.

Definitely playing like a kids movie in South America, 147% Saturday increase in Argentina.

 

It also continues to do very well in Chile, a pitty WB never reports grosses from here.

A small one, also in Uruguay it's doing the same. 

 

PD, here there is only one showing dubbed, in a 2 million hab. city, all the others are in spanish 😵 definitely a kids movie

170M WW Opening is solid. If it doesnt have mediocre /bad legs it will be a nice little hit for WB.
