BTW being off topic, do I need to be a fan to like Bohemian Rhapsody. I mean the film has 8.4/10 on IMDb but metacritic is shit at 49. Happens mostly in fan driven films.

As it happens, I am far far far away from English music, in fact never heard the name of singer till I saw film's huge numbers.

So anything for me there?

I’m a huge fan of Queen.

The movie sucks.  It’s really bad.

I feel Grinch has a >50% chance of beating WIR2.

Multipliers off 2nd weekend are lower than multipliers of 3rd weekend so FB1's 1.73x * Thanksgiving-weekend should be easy to beat. If Grinch adds 2x * Thanksgiving-weekend, will add ~60.5 more for 241.

-21.5% drop for week 3. More than $9 million above Box Office Mojo's 5-day prediction of $33m 5-day.

Best third weekend drop for an Illumination film. And this is despite competition with Ralph. Great hold.

$300m may will be on the table for Grinch provided its holiday holds are really something. It’ll die after the Christmas onslaught of films but I could see some nice holds before then.

If it's not back at #2 next weekend, it will be the following December 7 frame.

I lazed up, else would have created New Grinch vs Old Grinch (unadjusted, 260) Dom club. Old Grinch should win showing what a behemoth it was. Finished #1 for the year!

Grinch winning the 2000 box office always cracks me up for some reason. Of all of the movies that came out that year, this is the one that made the most money.

Jim Carrey's starpower back in the day was something else. Even Bruce Almighty adjusts to nearly $370M today.

It makes sense. Popular story + holiday theme and release date + Jim Carrey starring = money making machine

Are there seriously no wide openers on 12/7? If so, I can easily see Ralph at #1 and Grinch at #2.

Ben is Back is opening that weekend but probably won't be in more than 1,000 theaters at best. Only other notable release that weekend is Mary Queen of Scots which will only be opening in LA/NY before expanding.
