Sony Pictures Animation and Sony Pictures Imageworks will release a brand new original short film titled “The Spider Within.”

Set in the world of the upcoming release “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” the animated short will debut exclusively at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival this June.

In the short, Miles Morales struggles to balance his responsibilities as a teenager, friend and student while acting as Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood superhero. After a particularly challenging day living with these pressures, Miles experiences a panic attack that forces him to confront the manifestations of his anxiety and learn that reaching out for help can be just as brave an act as protecting his city from evil.

It's such a coincidence. I was kinda hoping Tom Holland's SM4 would explore themes of anxiety and depression as Peter lost his last parental figure, is all alone, no one knows him AND he has to face the pressure of his first job (under a very toxic J Jonah Jameson?)

I didn't think they could match the first.

 

But then I saw that trailer.

Why was this released at like 2 AM. Makes me think Barbie is coming today and they know it, and that it'll suck the air out of any other trailer released, even though, allegedly, "The audiences aren't the same.".

 

Anyway....the trailer. Tears may have been shed.

What are expectations for this box office wise? Still a bit early but I remember some trying to comp the first with live action Spider-Man films and it didn't work out like that
