91% with 80 reviews and a consensus:

CRITICS CONSENSUS

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings isn't entirely free of Marvel's familiar formula, but this exciting origin story expands the MCU in more ways than one.

I would've preferred more praise in the description but maybe I'm getting greedy.

I gotta be honest, who cares about the Critic Consensus blurb.

Wars are fought over the Certified Fresh label.

I still remember MOS being certified fresh for a coffee break lol

(was WW84 ever certified with those initial reviews before it’s epic dive?)

TSS drop too hard tho, it loses 0.5 points after 100 reviews

BW for example was at 7.2 and finish with 7.0

BW is at a 6.9, so a 0.3 drop.

A single 6/10 review added to Shang-Chi just brought it down to a 7.6, it can fluctuate far too much to use it for any comparisons.

there are lots of people loving 3rd act too.

seems like serious critic who wanted more grounded, less marvel vs comic book fan +general audience who wants entertainment.

you can want entertainment and still chafe at that 3rd act. You know what's not entertaining? Terrible CGI in a 200 mil movie.

And Metacritic:

Black Panther: 88

Endgame: 78

Iron Man: 79

Guardians: 76

Civil War: 75

Ragnarok: 74

Homecoming: 73

Dr Strange: 72

Shang-Chi/Ant-Man and the Wasp/Winter Soldier: 70

Far From Home/The Avengers: 69

Infinity War: 68

Black Widow/Guardians vol 2: 67

First Avenger: 66

Captain Marvel/AntMan: 64

Iron Man 3: 62

Hulk: 61

Thor/Iron Man 2: 57

Dark World: 54

Suicide Squad dropped quite a bit from 78 but Shang-Chi will still finish this range

Isn’t it generally understood that characters speaking English in an American movie are not necessarily speaking English in universe? And same thing for movies produced elsewhere, like a Japanese production Robin Hood they’ll just speak Japanese, but in-universe it’s understood to be English (though really old English which is practically a different language itself).

That only checks out in something like Valkyrie, where it's understood the entire movie is German converted to English. In something like Shang Chi, where there are obviously scenes in America where characters are speaking English...that excuse doesn't fly. It's just Marvel laziness per usual.

Hmm, don’t think this checks out. Even in movies where multiple languages make sense in universe, I feel like it’s plenty common to just have it be the production language throughout. Laziness in a sense, sure, but also it’s just convenient for audiences.

And evidently this has some scenes in Mandarin, though I doubt every single scene where it would make sense in universe will be subbed.

It's so hilarious watching someone complain about something that it's not true in this movie without watching it.
