Saturday AM estimates see Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse with a solid weekend start of $37.2M

Mortal Engines, directed by his Oscar-winning VFX protege Christian Rivers isn’t one of them with a disastrous domestic opening of $7.7M.

Universal can count on the 6th weekend of Illumination’s The Grinch which is looking great with $12.4M at 3,759 theaters in 3rd place, -17%, for a running total of $240.1M. The Grinch is doing so well, he’s one notch ahead of Disney’s Ralph Breaks the Internet who declines from his three-week No. 1 streak to 4th place with $9.6M in weekend 4.

MGM/New Line’s Creed II is looking at a $5.2M fourth weekend which will put the Rocky spin-off at $104.6M, 19% ahead of Creed at the same point in time back in 2015.

November has given 4 150+ films - BR, Grinch, FB2, WIR2. Grinch finishing at top and FB2 at bottom out of those, but interestingly, can BR leg it above WIR2? It will be 180.5 after a ~4.25 weekend.

Lower than I expected for ME.

And I’m really hoping Spider-Verse gets past $40M.

The Favourite is looking at a great expansion. Green Book is gonna probably end up with another sub-25% drop.

Mary Queen of Scots is actually doing decent so far considering the reviews aren’t that great (it’s two points shy of a Rotten score on RT).

Best I can see Spidey do at this point is around 36m. This weekend isnt generally known for family films having outlandish saturdays. As previously noted 44% is among the best for opening family films, plus you have the hefty frontloading that it is already showing. Tracking was right in this regard.

Nice to be back in Fort Worth, The a Favourite is playing near me and we’ll probably be getting a Beale Street.

Pretty much means ill I’ll be able to catch all of the major awards contenders before New Years.  Well, all of them except First Man because I kind of slept on seeing that and it was out of theaters quick.
