Can AQM beat Venom worldwide?

Yes.  Venom did what 855 or so.  This should do somewhere in the (wide range) of 850-925 depending on the 'non China' overseas markets.

With MPR flopping, can AntMan2 stay in the top 10 worldwide so it isn't the only big superhero movie left out?

FB2 will pass it.

When the MPR trailer came out and got a pretty unanimous "meh" reaction (even from those who looked forward to the film), it should have been a warning sign.

I think that media wanted to write headlines about a female lead beating Aquaman and they started to throw crazy predictions and the hype spilled over onto BOT and messed up with everyone's judgement. it isn't just BOT that thought MPR would win Xmas. it all started in media. And then various precursors started to lavish nominations (GG, SAG) and Top Tens (AFI). Boom.

But yeah, there was certain anti-Aquaman narrative and MPR push was big part of it.

Not too surprised. Second time in a row a quirky Fox Searchlight film got beat out by a somewhat genetic period Oscar film from Focus Features over the holidays.

So that means The Favourite will go on to win Picture 🤔

All those estimates are based on guesses (by experts with data tbf) for Sunday though; it is the best we will get for now.

Will Mortal Engines even hit a 2x? A lot of places are cutting back its showtimes on Tuesday when Vice and Holmes open.

I don't see that happening this time around.  The Favourite has a $6.5m lead with a slightly lower PTA at nearly the same theater count.

- (17) Mary Queen of Scots Focus Features $2,240,000 +220% 795 $2,818   $3,543,755 3
- (12) The Favourite Fox Searchlight $2,060,000 -21% 790 $2,608   $10,087,140 5
-

It can match Venom with something like,

355 OS-China + 265 China + 235 Dom = 855 ww, similar to Venom

imo it has a good shot at going over those numbers especially OS-China. China could do 270 while 235 Dom can also be handily breached.

I have to imagine it’s gonna drop some theaters on Tuesday. Theaters must be eager to ditch it because it’s wasting valuable auditorium space.

lmao, what happened in the last couple of pages? Did y’all just want to provide examples of what so many of us were talking about yesterday?

Sadly, the people that should be reading what many were talking about yesterday are the ones most likely to ignore it.
