HTTYD: The Hidden World OS

Recommended Posts

Already at 28,8M USD from Latin American countries with Ecuador yet to open, just 7,5% behind the second one in dollars at the same time (excluding Venezuela) despite ER being 30-40% worse.

So far it has been holding better than the second in all the countries but won't have the Winter Holidays boost in South America.

I see it doing.

Argentina 5

Bolivia 1

Brazil 15

Chile 6,5

Central America 2,5

Colombia 4

Ecuador 2

Mexico 20

Paraguay 0,3

Perú 4

Uruguay 0,4

60,7

From DHD:

Universal/DreamWorks’ threequel picked up another $38.2M in 46 offshore markets this session as rollout continues and ahead of the domestic opening. The overseas total to date is $138.7M. There are still 22 markets to go including Russia, Spain, Japan and China. Hiccup and Toothless got a boost from the Chinese New Year holiday in South East Asia, HTTYD3 is also the No. 1 studio movie this weekend, behind the Chinese pics.

Germany was new in the session with a strong $6.9M opening, well ahead of Lego 2and scoring the best February animation bow ever. School holidays are a help here and are staggered meaning long play ahead. In France, the debut was $6.86M at No. 2 — there’s a big local comedy in the market that’s at No. 1. In Vietnam, HTTYD3logged the best opening weekend ever for an animated movie at $2.5M. The Top markets to date are Mexico ($14.9M), Brazil ($12.5M), the UK ($11.8M), Korea ($8.9M) and Germany ($6.9M).

From DHD:

Hiccup and Toothless had a franchise-high domestic debut this weekend, several frames after their threequel began offshore rollout in early January. The current weekend overseas on the Universal/DreamWorks Animation title was $34.7M with strong play through European school vacations. Internationally, the total is now $216.9M for $275M worldwide.

HTTYD3 is playing in 53 offshore markets including nine new homes this session. They’re led by Russia’s $11.2M from 1,810 locations at No. 1. That’s followed by Spain at No. 1 with $2.8M from 352 sites, and the Philippines with $1.7M at 212 locations and No. 1. In holds, the UK was up 5% for a $20.3M cume, France dipped just 27% for $16.7M to date and Germany was down 39% for $13.9M. Mexicolikewise fell 39% for an $18.7M total after four frames. Still to come are China and Japan with the former opening on Friday.

tough to cross 400 os like the previous one but that is a very high-benchmark anyway so not complaining. we just was wir2 barely corss 500 ww, so targeting 400 os is great for httyd3.

is on 217 os. needs 183 for 400. if current markets can get 100 after 35 weekend then japan and china have 83 to get between them. 375 os is locked imo.

The 2 Dragons movie did nothing in Japan...

Second one wasn't even released because of the streak of bombs DreamWorks Animation had in Japan. But they do have a better distributor now in Japan. The problem is that HTYYD3 still has no release date set for the calendar year, which means it will likely either be released in 2020 (a full year after like Boss Baby) or not at all.

It appears that this is going to land at mid 500m WW (not counting Japan, DL keeps saying that is going to get a release in August but don't know if it would make much). With better ER and better China release date, it could have increased from the second one. Oh well...

That’s a solid end to the franchise.
